The little conference that can can't

Josh, of Cartoons by Josh has a take on the attendance of COP16 at Cancun, said to be down more than 50% over last year’s COP15 shindig in Copenhagen.

Snowing again here at tallbloke towers tonight. Very unusual for November. The MET has forecast 20C below freezing for some parts of the country.
That’s pretty near a record set in 1911. Common climate factor for then and now? low Sunspot number following a long minimum.

One can imagine all of the work shops dedicated to manufacturing planic, redistribution of wealth, and parasitical ‘science’.

There is too much complacency here abouts, governments are still pushing AGW.
I agree. Reading this and other skeptic sites, one can get the feeling that the war is won. Yet, the mainstream media, and politicians, continue with the same old tune. Only yesterday the Australian prime minister announced that she will pursue ‘price on carbon’ even more vigorously.

I don’t see any reason why this would contribute to the failure of this meeting. Less stake holders and people means less problems negotiating a (any) treaty.
Let’s assume only those with vested interests are present now.
A few drinks and the right drugs (this is coke paradise isn’t it) could just make the difference to get the right signature under the wrong treaty.
Just remember how the House of Lords signed the British Climate Bill?
Most of them were drunk when they signed the UK into the decade of deindustrialization.

…the attendance of COP16 at Cancun, said to be down more than 50% over last year’s COP15 shindig in Copenhagen.
The (C)AGW beast must be near death for it to have shed so many underfed parasites.
At this rate by COP17 the attendance will be down to maggots, ants, and beetles, getting what they can while they still can get something.
Any chance we can put the poor misbegotten creature down now? I’d recommend a nice bonfire cremation afterwards, there’s a cold Northern Hemisphere winter coming and we could use the warmth. However no roasting of marshmallows, that’d just be gauche. 😉

I don’t see why A Watts has us all freezing, warming our hands on laptops and such, instead of having skeptical science meetings in Mexico.
(We had snow S Wa before Thanksgiving, very unusual.)

I have to wonder if in the light of Climategate and the near complete meltdown of governmental budgets some of the proposed attendees requests for more government largess to finance a little time on the Mexican Beaches was seen as just a tiny bit too blatant a waste of money…
I agree, but I bet since it was already budgeted……………

Cacun. Why yes, what with the the carbon gypsy moths all going into hibernation, Cancun might as well be in a cocoon.

Here’s where they’ll be leisurely talking over skyrocket your electric bill, that is if they don’t get distracted from saving the world from your car exhaust and end up swimming drunk in the pool.

You said “There is too much complacency here abouts, governments are still pushing AGW”
I agree completely.
2010 will go down as the year the scientific case for AGW died.
If we are not careful, 2011 will be the year AGW statism rose triumphant.
More and more regulations are being put in place with the effect, if not the intention, to increase costs and reduce standards of living.

The Socialists want us rationing and fundamentally change our life style.

You mean the watermelons? They do claim to be environmentalists, so it applies. Green on the outside, red on the inside….

November 29, 2010 5:20 pm

If anyone has not looked at how insane 4 C by 2060 is , a simple exercise will do . If we are going to warm 4 degrees C by 2060, it means 4 degrees warming in the next 50 years or a rate of warming 4/50 or 0.08 per year. Our current rate of warming trend [ least square trend slope ]since 2001 is 0.0042/year according to WOODFORTREES COMPOSITE INDEX.[see below] This means that they are telling us that the globe will warm or .08/0.0042 or 19 times faster than today. These people really do have global warming fever of the worst kind and it looks incurable.

Don’t be fooled….. They are just signing agreements and creating political frameworks without us….. It’s just that they’ve given up on appearing like a democratic system….. As many of them have said….. ” Sometimes you have to suspend Democracy to save Democracy”… Umm…Yeah right!
…. Well at least we can count on our Media to keep them honest……. *sigh*

Those who came out of the closet call themselves socialists so why provide the the honor to be called after a perfectly shaped and excellent tasting fruit?
It’s an insult of the watermelon.

I look forward to January 5, 2011 when our new, more conservative US Congress convenes. Committee chairs and ranking members will exchange places and hearings will be populated by witnesses who will be more inclined to expose the fraud.
A prominent event will be the examination of Lisa Jackson, the run-amok enviro and head of Environmental Protection Agency, who is working furiously under the radar to effectively impose carbon restrictions via regulation under the shelter of the Supreme Court’s inane designation of carbon dioxide as a pollutant . Her little fiefdom sorely needs exposure to the strong light of examination and reining in.

Hey Anthony!
Can you get information out to Americans reading Watts Up just spoken about
by Christopher Monckton to Alex Jones???
He says there’s this legislator in congress (a Rino, of course) who might be
appointed as head of an energy committee ~ His name is Fred Upton ~ and
Monckton just said that ALL Americans should call their senators and congressmen
to STOP that appointment.
The guy is all about ‘eco-austerity’ and Monckton just said he’s an ultra-greenie
who will do his BEST to further subjugate the U.S. populace.
I can’t see of any other way to get this info. to you and I hope this helps.

As attendance declines the tone becomes more shrill. The die-hard, fully committed are the last ones to abandon the group. They should all be committed… institutionalized in fact, if you know what I mean.

Josh..
Remember, the real work is being done in several very high level smoke filled rooms that are closed to the public and all but the most influential in the world’s of Hi-Finance, International Politics, & Big Biz. Sure wish we had some flys on the wall in those. Don’t imagine there’s any “Climateologists”, or Eco-ologists either.
