Friday Funny #2

Oh this is rare, two Friday Funnies. This one is still rooted in the same humor sources as the new cartoon by Josh posted here.

Now you see it…94,910 people on board (last night ~11:30PM PST)

Now you don’t…73,010 people on board (today ~9AM PST)

And those two guys look so happy about “Liftshare week”, but I digress.

It seems that there was a quality control problem, which is what I’ve always said is the biggest issue in climate science.  [UPDATE: They definitely had to purge some 20K+ in people numbers. This is confirmed independently here by Richard North of the EU Referendum blog in the UK, who noticed well before I did.]

When I can be signed up, along with Lord Monckton and James Delingpole (see the top image) along with Osama Bin Laden, Elvis Presley, the late Michael Crichton, and Nessie the Loch Ness Monster, you know you’ve got a QC problem.

I know it’s generally against policy but can I post O2 email addresses to individuals supposedly of influence?

Oh While I’m at it.
Can I ask for sponsors to allow me to turn my heating on on Sunday instead of having to wear this bloody sweater?

Did they resign or did they just push red buttons?

Just went to 10:10, and I see no names or numbers in the “Join us…” (why do I keep hearing creepy voices droning that phrase? What movie is that from?) sidebar.
Have too many people signed up fakes at their expense?
Golly, I thought only clever young creatives wre supposed to be netroot-mobile-snarky!

I have to say that seeing this gives me a certain frisson:
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/sciencefair/post/2010/10/wegman-plagiarism-investigation-/1
My, didn’t the Virginia AG cite Wegman six times in his Appendix B? Hmm…
Now, this in no way denigrates his finding that the error (not fraud) that Mann made in his initial analysis technique was wrong (and it was, as even Mann admitted in the Climategate emails http://www.eastangliaemails.com/emails.php?eid=591&filename=1132094873.txt). The important point is, as shown in Wahl and Ammann (2007), that it didn’t make any difference to the conclusions. It does however speak to the level of overall scholarship in the report.
Put it on the front page, Anthony…

At the moment 10:10’s UK site has 73,083 People on board, just 73 more than they had when Anthony provided an update this morning. And the top of the Recent Signups list is currently “Boycott O2″…

Another seven signed up overnight (73,090 at 06:10 BST)…
At a rate of say one per hour…it’ll only take until December 2012 to get back to the 93,00o mark. But 10:10 day is tomorrow! Another triumph for our dedicated team of planners.
PS – To put this number in perspective for comparison, 41,000 turned out for the top soccer match last weekend (Chelsea vs Arsenal). To pay the $100 + for tickets and to spend a whole Saturday afternoon is a bit more of a commitment than just signing one’s name to a website. And the diehard fans do this week in week out…not just once a year (or maybe not at all – we’ll see tomorrow). Up the Shots!

So how many people really are signed up?
Were those just names of people who had recent done hits to the web site but were called sign ups instead? I hope that would not be the case.

Dunno why but Anthony just emailed me to ask if the Phil Clarke who signed up last night was me.
Yes, Mr Watts. It was.

I think you may be thinking of the eerie chant, “One of us. One of us.” This is from Tod Browning’s memorable movie Freaks.

I signed up a few names such as ‘Gullible Idiot’ and ‘Warmist Watermelon’ on the uk site. They were very quickly removed, and then ten minutes later I saw the list of new members had been completely removed from the homepage. Seems Franny and 10:10 don’t have as much of a ‘crazy’ sense of humour as they thought they did!
BTW I don’t know yet if they’ve put the list up again.

‘Professor Tol could not be described as a sceptic, but I’m absolutely sure he was being ironic.
He’s just about the only academic here in Ireland with the courage to speak out against the insane climate abatement nonsense and we’re very lucky to have stolen him from the Netherlands.’
So essentially you’re just gonna try with the appeal to authority fallacy and hope for the best?
I’m sry I don’t give a fart ass who anybody who supposedly have a weighty name are, what with they’re mostly just fat anyhow.
And beside maybe he’s just the only nut fucker who hasn’t understood Irelands economical predicament, which pretty much spells EU subsidies if played right?

Break.com posted 10:10’s video on their front page, where it has already garnered 101,358 views. What’s particularly amusing is that they categorized it as a Horror video:
http://horror.break.com/youve-always-wanted-to-see-exploding-school-children/youve-always-wanted-to-see-exploding-school-children#comments-target
“Check out this global warming propaganda campaign backfire and bask in the blood lust of school children!!” Submitted by: BreakStaff
10:10’s UK site is up to 73,274 People on board, 17 more than my last update:
http://www.1010global.org/uk/people/learn
So, at what point can we safely call 10:10 an abject failure?

You accused him of being sarcastic, he wasn’t. That has to do with his previously stated opinions, not his qualifications.
Where you got the idea that I was appealing to authority is beyond me.
If Ireland wasn’t spending €10billion on wind turbines and however many billions the transmission lines will cost we’d be in a much better predicament. Especially since the nearby Scottish windmills are running at half the capacity the industry claimed. Incidentally, we’ve spent more bailing out our incompetent banks in the last 3 years than we ever got in 30+ years of European subsidies.

On 10/10/10 day
Somehow it has jumped back up from 73,000 to OVER 96,000 again..
As I had a screen capture of Exploding Mr Creosote being signed up, how many of those people are REAL..
Deathly silence in the UK about this ‘event’ anything happening around the world?

Richard Tol
October 10, 2010 6:21 am

@Barry
The jump in numbers, first 20,000 down, now 20,000 up, is most likely due to duplication of names.
I signed up twice (first to check whether I can sign off — I cannot — and then to see whether they check for duplication — they did not at first, and then they did, and now they don’t again). Search for Richard Tol and you’ll find two.
The 20,000 duplicates reappeared after James Delingpole made fun of the drop in numbers.
The latest recruit is Feyd Rautha, nephew of Baron Harkonnen.
