Not content with “inventing the Internet”, giving a voice to literary despots worldwide still living in their parent’s basement, Gore now wants to do what YouTube has already done; give a voice to video despots living in their parents basement. I think Gore is late to the party, as a company called “poptent” is already doing video crowdsourcing. So is a company called SpotMixer. Or…maybe he’s going to offer to buy these companies with carbon credits or Goldman Sach’s stock certificates. Either way, it’s old news. Note that Gore’s last video venture, Current TV didn’t do so well, having to lay off 80 last fall. Even then Gore spun it as a success.
Al Gore Wants To Democratize Television, Leaks ‘Crowdsourced TV’

What if you could flip the mass media power of the TV industry funnel, making your viewers your producers, and then using communities to source, distribute and promote professionally curated content? Well, then you might have something that looked a little bit like user-generated video portal YouTube combined with a traditional television network. That appears to be what Current Media plans to introduce soon, Chairman Al Gore hinted at during the closing keynote Tuesday at MEDIA magazine’s Outfront Conference in New York.
“Soon we will unveil a new, related concept that we call Crowdsourced TV,” Gore disclosed during a speech that focused largely on the concept of a “sustainable advertising” marketplace, and what advertisers, agencies and the media could to do to help make it a reality. The industry needs to, Gore asserted, because, “the consumer is way ahead of us on this.”
Gore was alluding to the fact that consumers have already embraced social media platforms and new, inexpensive, professional quality technologies that have made them as much a part of the conversation as any marketer or media conglomerate, and that the best option for the media industry is to embrace it.
“I want to keep the anticipation, but we’re very excited about it,” Gore said about Crowdsourced TV. While he declined to elaborate, he implied that it would be a new iteration of what Current Media already does with its online community and its cable and satellite delivered television network, Current TV, which reaches 60 million U.S. households, and also operates in a number of major markets around the world.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I feel sorry for Al Gore. A man becomes successful because he can call a spade a spade, and thereby profit from such astute observations (as a life-guiding metaphore, of course). Poor Al couldn’t identify a spade in a hardware store nor at a gambling casino in Vegas. His inability to be brutally honest with himself will have self-destructive consequences eventually. No matter if he’s rich, for none of that goes with him when he leaves. In his case, what goes is nothing worth having.

As always, Al Gore is trying to make money off what others are already doing. It was the same with pollution and recycling. People have been reducing their pollution and doing more recycling before Al Gore thought about how to make money out of it. The only thing he tried to do is how he could force people to pay for the rest of what they don’t recycle and the rest of the pollution they don’t cut back.
Too bad he has not learned to reduce his oratory pollution…

AlGore and those who worship at his feet will be all for this newest new thing, that is until conservatives find material that they also want to produce and show. At that instant, crowdsourcing will cease to be interesting to the left, with all that hate speech and such. Too much like blogging, which has been taken over by right wing blogs like this one. The left will promptly show intense interest and hope in some other new thing.
I can’t speak for everyone, but for me al-Gore is the “face” of AGW. With his ridiculous road-show turned Oscar winning sci-fi movie and his mind-bogglingly hypocritical lifestyle, he’s just an easy target.
And don’t believe that nobody believes him. A distressingly large percentage of people I have talked to both in person and on the internet believe that al-Gore’s movie is completely true.
It’s important to keep up with this twit. He’s the reason I refuse to use google and won’t buy apple products (of course, their stuff is just crap anyway, but I kinda wanted an iPhone for a while there). I need to know what he and many of the other fantastically wealthy communists are financially involved with so I can continue my blanket boycott against them.
And I have also been involved in deprogramming many kids after they were forced to watch an inconvenient troof. I always make sure they understand the difference between what the school system wants them to answer, and the reality.

And speaking of Hugo Chavez, he does not (as you might suppose by the fact that he arrests and imprisons his opposition) want to shut down information available on the internet. He wants to provide internet service to more people. Well that sounds nice, doesn’t it?

That’s the way Liberals work: When it’s their failure, tell everyone how great it’s doing. Look at Obama and the economy – for 17 months, we’ve seen record bank failures, record deficits, record home foreclosures, record unemployment, record spending, a failing dollar, bank bailouts, etc. etc.. Every month the numbers get worse and every month we’re told that analysts say the bad numbers were ‘unexpected’ but now ‘bottoming out and so the negative numbers indicate that a recovery is right around the corner’, blah blah. Same with climate change – they tell us it’s warming. We show them it’s freezing and they spin that as good news that indicates warming is right around the corner. They tell us to watch for record hurricanes, we show them virtually none and they spin this as positive news that hurricane records are right around the corner. Get the picture? Liberals lie about everything. Because they’re wrong about everything. And everything they do is designed to take money and rights away from YOU and give money and power to them.
Now what was that definitive proof that WUWT is NOT “crowdsourcing.”

Good gawda’mighty! Stop painting people with a broad brush! I am a liberal. Don’t believe in religion. I believe consenting adults should be able to marry who they want to with all attendant privileges. I believe we need to, as a community, take care of our folks who are physically and mentally disabled. And I want guv’mnt to stay the hellouta out my womb and bedroom. That makes me an enlightened liberal. I also do not believe in AGW and vote accordingly. Being liberal is not a dirty word. Many misconceptions exist related to how we view “the other side”. We would all benefit if less stereotype was being passed around and more thinking was going on.
Oh yeah! 17 months trying to fix the unholy gigantic screw up that Bush baby took 8 years to accomplish. What a failure indeed. And of course Conservatives never lie do they? Gore never claimed to invent anything. He said he took the initiative in creating it – which is exactly what he bloody well did. Now I don’t know but I’d guess conservatives probably opposed supporting the internet creation – based entirely on the observation that they oppose everything government does on principle – except of course starting wars which they just love.
Now there’s a thing: A government body starts an anthrax scare making you all piss your pants, a clueless tv station connects it to Iraq – thanks to unnamed sources in government – and you lot spend an trillion bombing hordes of innocent people. All the while refusing to see that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Jeb Bush had all signed a document 3 years previously saying they needed to find an excuse to bomb Iraq. Sure, nothing wrong there. All above board. The tough decisions that conservative chicken-hawks just need to make! That Cheney and Bush aren’t currently doing hard time tells us only that it doesn’t matter who gets in; they are all as corrupt as each other. Yes liberals lie too. Surprise, surprise. Politicians do that you know. If you think your lot are somehow honest despite mountains of evidence to the contrary then it’s a serious delusion and is the principal reason why conservatives are disbelieved and distrusted on global warming issues even though they may be actually more correct than not. ie they pretend to seek the truth but only sometimes: The rest of the time they are quite happy with blatant lies.
