Holy Hockey Sticks !

Last month I was surprised to find WUWT broke the 2 million hits barrier.

This month, it’s worse than we thought:

wordpress.com internal traffic counter for WUWT - click for larger image

Just another effect of Climategate.

In other news, some other websites didn’t appear to benefit from the Climategate “bump”.

From Alexa.com

As always, I say I could not have done this alone. My sincere thanks to the many contributors, and moderators Charles, DB, and Evan. Of course, let’s not forget all the readers and commenters. Truly a global village we have here.

It’s down to all those folks who keep plugging you in the ‘traditional media’. It’s along the lines of ‘you’ve just written the biggest load of religious BS this year. Go and read some proper analysis at that pesky website WUWT.’
Course, if you start writing religious BS here, maybe people’ll start doing the same to you!
Hope not.

Sorry, Paul Hanlon is me, I’m at a different computer. Another bit of good news is climatedepot is about half wattsupwiththat, which must make WUWT the premier site to go to for “real” climate news. I like climatedepot, but it’s a bit too “in your face” to be taken seriously, and has nowhere to leave comments.

I am sorry but using the same techniques as the CRU I inverted the graph and then reversed it and just as I suspected, you are hiding the decline in site hits per month.
Shame on you Anthony! Not to worry I hear the UEA have vacancies so if the boss sacks you there are other options 🙂

Anthony et al,
I just want to add my 2 cents to all the other kudos you’ve rightfully received in this thread. It is gratifying to know that you, along with all of us — together, are making a positive difference in the world. Amazing, isn’t it?
We need to keep the pressure in every way we can – individually and collectively.
The great thing about WUWT is it gives us the information and ammunition to do battle for the truth.
I can think of no greater compliment.
Carry on…

I’ve learned so much from what you and others have posted.
Thank you, thank you , thank you.

The flaw of Turnbull
Was to fall for the Gorebull
Warming that is,
Or rather isnt!
For the CRU facts
Just cannot be attacked (nor an ETS tax!)
And the truth sets us free
Of the hoaxers foul glee
As they’re caught in their acts
Of betrayal (of us all)
So while Krudd’s wicked scheme
Like a nightmarish dream
Ended up going downstream
Turnbull’s career ended drear
With Abbott’s victory scream!
So Copenhagen talk fest
With those damn hoaxer pests
Rudd’s ego is left rather flat
No tax by that scum
Left behind in the scrum
As the Liberals return to their best!
The end (Feel free to forwrad, edit or use as you see best Andrew Bolt.)
I suppose “climate change” is hazardous after all – its’ claimed Turnbull’s scalp. 😉
Although in so doing its done us all a favour most likely! I always thought Turnbull was in the wrong party for his essential nature.

Is this unique IP addresses? If not, I may account for around 750,000 of them.

It’s great.
I posted some WUWT links at an investors blog and was jumped by an American who was clearly convinced of the warmist side of the equation.
We exchanged some views and arguments and he was a fast learner, not a person who’s ego conflicts with his brain.
Now look what he has written at his blog.
It was what he called the most difficult blog posting he ever made but he gets the message and he will be a more convinced skeptic than I am.

Gibbs: Despite research dispute, ‘climate change is happening’
By Tony Romm – 11/30/09 03:21 PM ET
“The White House on Monday made exceptionally clear that it wants nothing to do with the furor over documents that global warming skeptics say prove the phenomenon is not a threat”.
Despite the incident, which rocked international headlines last week, climate science is sound, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stressed this afternoon, and the White House nonetheless believes “climate change is happening.”

Anthony, this will be the attitude of all Copenhagen participants.
It’s them who are in denial, not us.

I just wish we could all meet up for a beer somewhere and sometime.

How about a first WUWT Conference for Realism in Science and Sanity in Politics (WCRSSP, pronounced ‘Watts Crisp’)?

“3×2 (00:32:18) :
YOU are the cause of Global Warming – the correlation is clear.”
Correlation proves just that, correlation. Global warming could be the cause for the number of visits to this site, or, the number of visits could be the cause of global warming. See what I did there 🙂
“helvio (00:53:54) :
Al Gore estimates that this website will dominate the whole internet by 2050!”
That is just impossible, the tubes aren’t big enough for that.
I want a “Vote for WUWT and sanity” T-shirt

As always wonderful job. Hopefully our governments will be listening, although they still seem to be stuck thinking your hockey stick is the temperature graph.
Congratulations Anthony and moderators!

This is off topic, but the Sun is playing a backseat role during these important times, but SIDC has just released the Nov figures. The Nov figure is 4.2 which is extremely low for a count expected in the upramp of a cycle, the onset of a solar grand minimum is strengthening daily. We could not wish for better timing.
The Layman’s Count will be updated tomorrow which is expected to severely downgrade this already low figure. As the world eventually dumps the IPCC mantra, real questions will be asked on what drives our natural climate variation. The time is near for real science to explore real outcomes.

Normally, my biggest support goes to the moderators and admins who keep things sane and intelligent. I know well where you guys come from (see our investing site above).
Recently, however, this site has been more of a journalistic affair and I’ve been both captivated and impressed.
This has been a lot of good work and I think we can all thank you sincerely.

Link between CRU and Holdren confirmed. ClimateG enters the Obama Administration.
This is very inconvenient for the White House and a President who said he would always listen to the American Public, who said all his bills would be published at his web site before he send them out for a vote and who said that the science must be restored.

British Antarctic Survey are reporting that the ice is melting and that over the next century we ‘could’ see sea levels rise by up to to 1.4m
They claim the hole in the ozone layer has caused Antarctic cooling but it is healing and the ice will start to melt from underneath in the western ice shelf.
Any basis in science for all of this? We just have uncritical reporting from the BBC.

People instinctively know when they are being lied to and fed the politically correct line. That is why all those “pravda” style sites are no more than quiet, unnoticed backwaters. That is why they come to sites like WUWT and CA which is throbbing with debate and opinions – something unheard of on the pravda sites. And when they read the pathetic attempts of the alarmists they can judge for themselves where the truth lies.

If you plot WattsUpWithThat visitor count against CO2 readings in the atmosphere, it clearly shows WattsUpWithThat visitor count is the cause of CO2 rising in the atmosphere.
Congrats … great site Anthony.

Anthony,
Your site does credit to the spirit of independent and open science! Your part in feeding that spirit with energy and focus has been your acheivement.
How can we promote independent and private funding for research to help sustain this spirit of independent and open science? Hey, it seems to me that private universities do it all the time!

Let’s blame everything on anthropogenic global warming:
Michael Jackon’s death? AGW.
Jennifer Lopez sex tapes? AGW.
Tiger Woods car accident? AGW.
After all, the science is settled. No need to check the facts.
