Answer below.

Gosh, they’re melting! 1000 tiny icemen sculptures were placed on the steps at the Gendarmenmarkt Square in Berlin, Germany at noon, today, September 2nd, 2009.

They began melting in about a half hour according to wire reports.

The melting  ice men were created by Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo.  The exhibit was part of a  launch campaign from WWF Germany to “raise awareness” about the effects of climate change in the Arctic.

So why not melting polar bears? Too graphic for some maybe?

According to some blog entires I’ve read, Azevedo has been setting up her tiny melting men sculptures in several countries since 2005.

It’s “art”. Greenmuze has an interview with the artist.

Sure why not, down in Australia, it appears some activists will be using a new tactic:

Frozen koalas may be thrown at rally cars

Did this make it onto RealClimate yet ?? Heh heh heh.

So the artist won’t be satisfied until the ambient temperature is sufficiently cold to keep ice frozen indefinitely? Wow, now that would be climate change (and the end of humanity).

David, you had me laughing out loud.
While I am currently unaware of any local little ice people communities, I can confirm that I have, in fact, dated a few women made of ice. It wasn’t the sun that melted them, however.

While on the subject of the WWF and environmentalism; we might take note that Obama’s “Green Czar” in charge of environmental legislation, is a radical Marxist Communist by the name of Van Jones; who years ago started the Communist STORM organisation; you can look them up on the web but the R stands for Revolution.
Obama found this piece of work somewhere in the environs of San Francisco where he started his misapproriation of environmentalism and environmental groups (such as the WWF for example) with the aim of exploiting environmentalism for his Marxist Communist revolutionary aims. And he is on public record as saying he plans to use the green movement to destroy the “evil” US capitalist system.
Just thought the scientific community ought to know who is steering the Obama environmental control.
If Obama doesn’t hate America; what on earth would he be doing differently if he did hate America ?

I think you’ll have a great time with all the global warmers on your cruise. Don’t forget to take lots of photographs ‘while it is still there to photograph’.

Well, if it was in the US, when the ice melted, we could quickly put up little Waxman figures with bills in their hands, and watch them melt.
