Climate Change Denialism – Greg Laden’s Blog

Anthony Watts has responded on his blog but if I put a link to it he will discover that I’ve written about him and instruct his winged monkeys to fill my comment section with hate.

  1. Translation from Gregese into English: “Anthony Watts has responded on his blog but if I put a link to it people will discover that lies were written about him and people will realise I’m full of hate.”

In all sincerity though, the cowardice of these people is breathtaking. Mann won’t debate Spencer; Hayhoe declares [she] won’t debate a sceptic unless she has a gang of 48 other non-sceptics backing her up; Laden is afraid to link to your rebuttal of the Abrams hate piece.

  2. Notice he was asked about “skeptics” and replied “deniers”. This clearly indicates that he cannot tolerate any dissent from his precious faith. He has no skeptics because they are not of the faithful, and so must be shunned.

  3. Dangit! I just check the rules, and apparently I don’t comment here enough to quality for winged monkey status!…. And I always wanted to be a winged monkey too! They were my favorite thing in the whole movie!!!

  4. Darn I clicked on Laden’s site and then made an (even bigger) second mistake and read something to do with guns, I think I have to go for a walk just to calm down I rarely make really big mistakes in that short a period of time, later.

  5. Like Clarence, still working on getting my wings. Nonetheless it is possible to show Greg Laden what the world would be like if no-one had given birth to AGW alarmism. Hint: Fewer windfarms and bureaucrats, generally richer, otherwise eerily the same.

  6. The Auditor General from the Canadian province of British Columbia, pointed out that taxpayer’s money is being wasted on the Pacific “carbon trust”. The CBC seemed upset when they reported this yesterday as if how dare someone criticize. Much anger towards the Auditor General came from a UBC professor who’s company makes millions on this scam. The Auditor General is taking on a new job in Australia. He was forced out of his job for what he was hired to do. Sounds like the government and media don’t want the public to find out about this money making scam. I should start a trust and call it the Pacific Sunlight Trust.
Sorry no link, but I am sure this story will appear on this site.

  7. Why won’t the warmists teach us how carbon dioxide traps heat in the air? I really would like to know.

  8. This is really hilarious! I linked through to Laden’s rubbish (he’ll never be the master of a sweary blog) and probably improved his hit rate stats – he’s like a man with a hernia: needs the support.

Two things struck me immediately – alright, three things: He doesn’t get many comments; he doesn’t think we’re sceptics, but ‘science deniers’ (wtf are they?); and he says this about our how to engender debate:

“Why don’t I list “skeptics” sites on my blog roll? Because I think that the climate science deniers are doing a bad thing, spreading misinformation and lies, and also, behaving (in many cases) badly in other ways, such as threatening law suits or attempting to get criminal charges against scientists, etc. etc. It would be grossly irresponsible and highly unethical for me to put those sites on my blog roll.”

‘Unethical’??? How post-f*ckin’-Gleikian can you get?

But then, not to put a link to WUWT is so childish. Does he think that his readers are incapable of find WUWT for themselves??

  9. Anthony,

I thought you’d like to know… Not only are you a AGW skeptic, now “Climate Denier” but Greg Laden called you a “science denier”.

Just thought you’d like to know.

Maybe next you’ll graduate to baby killer.

  10. I wish the warmhysterics would teach us how to change the climate, so we could have hot sunny days in Toronto in February instead of having to go to Florida.

  11. “…the climate science warmists are doing a bad thing, spreading misinformation and lies, and also, behaving (in many cases) badly in other ways, such as threatening law suits or attempting to get criminal charges against scientists, etc. etc. ”

    FIXED.

  12. “Anthony Watts has responded on his blog but if I put a link to it he will discover that I’ve written about him and instruct his winged monkeys to fill my comment section with hate.”

    WUWT gives me wings!

I’m hungry. Are there any bananas around here?

  13. Well, I was able to get through one or two comment posts .. .then ZAP! … not letting me post anything more. And believe me, I was very kind. I used no harsh or inappropriate language, I did not call anyone a name, nor did I even single anyone out except Greg. I simply posed some serious questions about the topic at hand. I guess Greg doesn’t like to be questioned. Oh, but he was able to call all of you “liars” and guilty of spreading “misinformation”. Greg seems like just another in a long line of Joe Romm wannabe’s.

  14. Since I was a winged monkey in an elementary school play “Wizard of Oz”, can I get official status here! LOL
When they resort to name calling, you’ve won.

  15. Maybe I haven’t drunk enough Red-bull to get my wings yet. Is there a ceremony if I get promoted from plain monkey?

  16. I think it’s funny that all the comments on the Greg Laden blog post linked to in the article except for a couple of replies by Greg Laden are from skeptics.

  17. ” It’s a bully tactic; establishing rules that don’t really exist then whinging when your victim does not obey said rules. That’s just a guess, though.” What a thin skinned bully. I wonder if he ever looks in the mirror?

    ——————————————————————————–

Bet I don’t get past “awaiting moderation” :)

  19. It’s understandable why Greg Laden is reluctant to link to this blog. Every time this blog is linked, a monkey gets its wings.

  20. I give my comment ten minutes before deletion:
    ——-
The world should have stopped taking Mann seriously way back when he wouldn’t share his data/methodology because people “were just going to try to find something wrong with it.” That’s not science.

Their obdurate behavior is so strange no fiction editor would ever allow it. “This is the most important scientific study ever done, the fate of the world hangs in the balance… what? No you can’t check my work!” Not plausible.

As others have said, I’ll believe this is a real issue when the people claiming that start acting like it.

Oh, almost forgot: Haaaate! Haaaaaaaate! And your little dog too!

  21. “Anthony Watts has responded on his blog but if I put a link to it he will discover that I’ve written about him and instruct his winged monkeys to fill my comment section with hate.”

C’mon Greg. You LOVE it when Anthony’s winged monkeys land on your blog. You get more hits/views in one day than you’d otherwise get in a year. And judging from the comments, Anthony’s winged monkeys are generally a whole lot more respectful to you than you have been to them/us.

  22. I went and looked, dip me in clorex.
The little fellow is desperate, WUWT will boost his blog count beautifully.
I’m seeing a trend here, as these futile little propaganda blogs fade further into obscurity, their personal attacks on Anthony will escalate.
WUWT are the only visitors they get.
I would give them mere days before their funding is yanked, from the time Anthony stops reacting to their foulness.

  23. Perhaps someone should enlighten Greg (the Fool) Laden that denial is when someone
refuses to believe irrefutable data, as in the case of our non-warming planet for several decades now. Greg is the only identifiable denialist around here that I can see. Laden the Denier. Sounds better than Laden the Fool. Sort of.

  24. “Anthony Watts has responded on his blog but if I put a link to it he will discover that I’ve written about him and instruct his winged monkeys to fill my comment section with hate.”

Why should Laden’s comment section be any different from the rest of his blog?

  25. Greg reinforces my precept that all of the global warming hysterics are paranoid types who see themselves as victims. Victims of “powerful forces” (they’re required to be powerful, else their cherished mental illusions look ,well, rather silly).

  26. Translation: My sad blog is sinking and I need some traffic from anywhere.

Is there such an equivalent as a blog which stands in the middle of the internet superhighway and lowers its pants for lose change?

  27. I am not a winged monkey, I am a stooge in the pay of big oil, well I fill up my car with petrol and my handler gives me tokens and when I have enough I get a set of knives, does that count as being in the pay of big oil?

  29. Laden’s hate is self-personification.

He reminds me of children who would rather have negative attention than none at all.

Well, I’m not going to visit his blog. He can call me all the names he wants but I won’t be suckered; it’s a waste of time.

And because you know he’s going to read these comments: Grow up, Mr. Laden–you’re part of the problem, not part of the solution.

  30. “1) Mann’s egotistical claim to be a “public” figure is great. He has just torpedoed any chance of winning HIS lawsuit against NRO et.al. “Never interrupt the enemy when they are making mistakes”

    2) Mann has NEVER been awarded a degree in climatology,or even taken 1 class. “Climate scientist” indeed.
3)John Abraham’s claim to Sandy(a tropical storm when it made landfall) that Sandy has a human print. Prove it. He doesn’t give one iota of factual proof. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
    4) Funny. Wiki still has him listed as a Nobel winner.,a claim which has been exposed as a lie by the Nobel Committee themselves!

Lies, obfuscation, propaganda, and name calling temper tantrums. The true hallmarks of a Warmista, who do NOT believe in cAGW,for if they did, they would be changing their life styles dramitically. After all,not much power for computors in a cave/mud hut.”

Posted the above at Greg’s blog.Wonder if it will pass the mods?

I also love his and commentators reply to the question of why skeptics blogs have links to Warmista blog, but the reverse is not true. Hilarious.

The effect, Richard, is real, and fairly elementary; the ‘effect’ overall may be quite minimal given all factors affecting earf’s (sic) climate however …

  32. Seems that, as predicted, something went wrong with my last post over there. Lucky I saved a copy here so i didn’t have to retype it. Did feel the need to add an intro this time just in case :P

Oh, and just had to clear cookies and route through an anonymous proxy for it to accept my post, even before moderation. I can keep this up all night, can he?

    ——————————————————————————————-
Seems my last attempt got Lost In (cyber)Space but luckily I’d remembered to cross-post it elsewhere so have a copy.

Obviously my tongue in cheek prediction over there about moderation couldn’t have really happened with such a valid comment so I guess I’ll try again.

Must remember to re-post in the other place as well for posterity ;)

  33. I told him we were a friendly lot if he got to know us but we don’t take kindly to crap like “denier”. My comment got removed.

So, I posted another even friendlier post – just making it clear that we object to things like being called “denier”.

I’ve tried, and if he doesn’t respond in kind, he only has himself to blame if the “winged monkey” come calling.

  34. Thanks, Gail! I look forward to checking out your song and other videos at the M4GW site over the weekend. My work computer won’t let me, and I should really get some more work done today anyway. :)

  35. Modded again over there – third time lucky maybe.

I honestly don’t see there’s anything contentious or unreasonable in what I tried to say – I was only pointing out that the other side might have the same view of some things – so I’m really not sure why it should be refused by a supposedly rational blogger?

  36. Even without wings, monkeys can be a menace.
( youtube can prove it ).
    Wizards are …. a fantasy dreamt-up by a child’s mind.
Climate models lack such an excuse.

  37. Greg Laden said
“It would be grossly irresponsible and highly unethical for me to put those sites on my blog roll”
But you are willing to put up links to so-called pal reviewed papers which are then blown out of the water for the dishonest way they torture the data and science.
Yeah nice and ethical Greg….how do you sleep at night!!!

  38. Richard111 says:

“Why won’t the warmists teach us how carbon dioxide traps heat in the air? I really would like to know.”

The answer is simple; The UN declares Newton’s law of cooling unconstitutional. The earth’s heat will no longer flow from the warm atmosphere to the cold of space, allowing climate scientist’s models to trap it. In spite of traps being cruel & inhumane it will be permitted by the IPCC provided the scientists models only trap enough heat to generate grant money to feed their immediate families, thus preserving their heritage.

  39. The screamers and the freaks don’t realize that Hansen, IPCC and the MET are back peddling and everyone else is just laughing at them. No offense intended but I’ve had a glass of mead and this just makes it more delish!

  40. I just checked, and I was wrong :(
I should have said ‘Fly , FLY my pretties’

  41. I went to Mr Ladens Blog page and parused the comments. One commenter asked:

    Les Johnson
March 28, 2013 But why do skeptic sites put AGW site son their blog rolls?

    .Mr Ladens responce was:

    Greg Laden

March 28, 2013 Less [#5] … I don’t know, you would have to ask them, but one guess would be do that you could ask that question. It’s a bully tactic; establishing rules that don’t really exist then whinging when your victim does not obey said rules. That’s just a guess, though.

OK, that will be all for the winged monkeys for now, thanks for proving my point!

So I posted a comment asking Mr Laden what he thought bullying was and that Dr Mann was in fact more guilty of bullying tactics with his Twittering about WUWT than linking to a website could be considered bullying.

It was temporarily posted pending moderation

Guess what??? The comment was moderated out

So I commented again asking simply for Mr Laden to define Bullying as commented in his earlier post.
Again, it was temporarily posted pending moderation.

Guess what, it was again moderated out. Not only no explanatory reply but noy I am locked out of commenting.

So much for CAGW sites fighting the GOOD fight

  42. Why do so many people think that disagreement is hate?

For that matter, why do they think mocking is hate? Does anyone think Weird Al hated all the bands he parodied?

The only “hate” I have is for stupid people, and maybe willfully ignorant. I hate those people. I mean, they COULD educate themselves, or listen when someone who knows better is talking.

This is supposed to be a Science argument. There’s no hate. I don’t even hate Gleick or Mann, I just mostly pity them for their ignorance and blind adherence to ideology. At least real religions have a useful purpose.

  43. Anthony, I’ve been coming in for a while now – I’ve never yet received instructions from you. What am I missing? How do I earn my winged monkey badge?

REPLY: Ask Greg Laden, cuz we’ve never given any out here – Anthony

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you’re on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You’ll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it’s going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
    get older.
And in the end you’ll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
    Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you’ll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it’s too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
    around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
    Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I’m a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I’m just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don’t stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
    maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone’s expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything’s done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone’s a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

  47. I learned after one post on Laden’s site that he’s not interested in fostering informed discussion (I visited it in an earnest desire to seek contrary views to Anthony’s). It was readily apparent to me that the site merely pushes either (a) sycophantic support by warmist protagonists or (b) Laden’s predilection to make snarky comments responding to sceptic posts he chooses (deleting and therefore ignoring the difficult ones). I haven’t been back since and the comments in this thread indicate that I’m not alone in this view, hence his lack of postings.

  48. I wonder if Greg would call me a denier to my face? I have no use for cowards flinging insults via the internet. If you wouldn’t say it to my face then…

  49. The current reality is that folks like DimLaden are in a panic. Reality isn’t behaving the way it was supposed to. They are the chosen saviors of the world, the elite who can lead us poor, ignorant monkeys to salvation. It just isn’t fair …

Look for more and more anger to build as the planet continues to cool.

  50. These CAGW proponents have now seemingly all reverted to the same approach, simply name calling and stonewalling.

It is really quite a spectacle.

  51. THE WINGED MONKEY
(for Greg Laden to take to heart)

Yes, I am a winged monkey
A poet both staid and funky
    For all of the time
    I keep it in rhyme
    Exposing the braying donkey

Had to laugh! For those who don’t know — the timeless dream of all poets is to have “wings” — to write lines that fly like Pegasus! Time has proved that I am not much of a poet so, what the hell, I will settle for winged monkey.

    Eugene WR Gallun

  52. Has anyone, or everyone, else noticed we (at least many of us) so called “deniers” have a sense of humor and fun about ourselves as well as the CAGW crowd, but none of them, as far as I can tell, seem to have any sense of humor at all? That seem very telling psychologically to me.

  53. As has been observed, Greg is probably reading this thread.
I honestly can’t understand why he thinks we should be full of hate, hate is so unproductive!

    DaveE.

  54. “hate” is a Liberal buzzword. All disagreement to the Progressive/Liberal worldview is “hate”. So all who disagree are haters. ie) racists, sexists, homophobes(I love that one). Meat-eaters, tree-cutters, SUV drivers. etc.

  55. I posted the following rather ironic, but basically true “status report” on
Greg Laden’s Blog Climate Change Denialism to show that there is no need not be
hate-mongers. I think he has no sense of humor because he refused to accept
it. I hope you guys over here will enjoy it then.

    —————————————————————————–

    Hello guys,

It’s gotten a little cold out here in Northern Europe and it occurred to me
maybe some of you might appreciate a first hand update on whats going on here.

We were pleased to find out that most dogs used for herding can locate sheep
buried in deep snow. Must have been a shocker for them little rascals, grazing
quite innocently in a spring-meadow one moment and then, snap, blanketed under
a couple of feet of snow. Also on the positive side, if we go outdoors it’s
amazing to experience a time-warp into our cultural heritage: snow- and
ice-scape’s with the spring sun high in the sky, just like our early masters
painted them in the Little Ice Age. Photography does a good job, but, well you
know, that special thing that paintings have, I think that’s because they
captured it in oil (no nasty chemicals or them ever changing bits in those
    days).

The darker side of things is that the Great Reaper has extended – reopened
maybe more accurate – his primary harvesting season with extra frost related
jobs here and there. The extra capita count he has gained this year has to be
    determined by the statisticians.

The min-temp records are toppling faster now then the max-temps did, but who
really cares about things like that? Surely, our mainstream media don’t because
they hardly mention any of them. It has to be that they – eventually – got
wiser, have stopped confusing sensationalism (and god forbid, alarmism) with
journalism; we will never know for sure (they won’t tell but there is no shame
    in learning!).

Be assured we are not alarmed at all – even as this is going on for some years
now – because a warming trend cannot reverse, that would be silly after all
that extra carbon is dumped in the atmosphere. We are intelligent people and
know this is normal variability in weather and not climate. I heard a rumor
though that someone attributed this spring cold to global warming – a backward
hilly-billy boy, obviously, not aware of the consensus or who refuses to get
enlightened. You never stop laughing, how could it be that melting ice on
Greenland and the North-pole produces cold over here? Last time I had a whiskey
on the rocks it took a lot of warmth out of my hand but it stayed at 0 deg
Celsius but don’t take my word for it as I’m not a climatologist.

There are however some people over here – I have to admit their number is
rapidly growing – who hold a grudge on leading climatologist. When people heard
that there would be no more snow and ice in winters to come, children would
read of it but never experience it, they started throwing stuff in the bin. And
now, with an ongoing economic crisis and skyrocketing energy prices, there is
no bargain in salvation. Buying new snow-shuffles, sleds, ice-skates and all
the other stuff prematurely discarded does not bide well with folks here.

Let me end with a light note and a smile. Before the snow there was a bitter
cold and dry wind. While walking at the beach I saw a father and his son
looking down at two dogs very actively engaged in procreation. Watching in
    bewilderment the boy asks:

Daddy, why the doggies doing funny like that?

Well son, thats what global warming gets you. The cold dry wind has blown sand
in the eyes of the dog in front, who is now in pain and blinded. His very
concerned and loving friend has taken it upon himself to push and guide his
    stricken pal home.

PS. I found my way over here from WUWT, reading that people were accused of
committing hate-crimes over here, can’t see that. As a Dutchman, I’ve been
often told, that we as a people lack the sophistication and sensitivity of the
global civilized citizen, could be a cultural blindness then. Let me make up
for that, if by chance we should meet I’ll throw a Dutch-party and we discuss
Geert Wilders, acclaimed to be the next Adolf.

  56. “ALL WE OWN, WE O-Owe.” The flying monkeys, like the guards, were liberated upon the death of the wicked witch. They were conscripts, forced to do her bidding.
It’s not really that apt of an analogy for we “Watts-uppers”. I believe we are all volunteers.

  57. Pompous, humorless and uncivilized – why is it all the AGW-pushers are so rude, so unpleasant and use such violent language? Why is it they can’t envisage the possibility they may have got things wrong? All symptoms of Narcissism, in my experience.

I gave up looking at any of their blogs let alone trying to reason with them years ago – I wouldn’t want such unintelligent bigots around my dinner table either.

  58. Greg Laden – you think you have problems with flying monkeys. There are many less fortunate than you old bean. Watch and learn.

  59. I’m sorry, giving in to the emotions caused by his post I left a message there as well! Really Anthony, can’t we just stay in our happy little echo chamber, and ignore those nasty bullies? /sarc

“Denier” is a very hateful term, yet thrown around casually here it seems. So if I don’t trust science from people who (once you’ve read the emails) have deliberately tried to stop publication of opposing views, conspired to have journal editors sacked, agreed privately that the hockey stick is bad science but don’t say it publicly, refuse to hand over data illegally (thank god for the time limits, eh Phil?), I’m a denier? So black is the new white and I’m hateful. Enjoy yourselves kids!
