Ah, but I happen to be campaign manager for my local branch of Reform UK. Not that my direct efforts are likely to make much difference – we are second from bottom in the list of seats likely to go Reform.

Reaching 100,000 does not automatically guarantee a debate.
2nd hoop
If it’s considered to be against government policy, the (cross-party) petitions committee tend to refuse.
3rd hoop
Find an MP,
Even if it gets permission to be debated, it would be done as a private member’s bill.
4th hoop
If selected, the debate is usually held in Westminster Hall, often for up to three hours. An MP chairs or leads the debate, other MPs can speak, and a government minister responds.
The debate raises the issue and records MPs’ views, but it does not automatically change the law or force the Government to act.
The Committee may also choose other actions, such as writing to a minister, requesting evidence, or referring the issue to another committee.
The whole bureaucratic process is designed to appear to be democratic while putting more stumbling blocks in the way to prevent changes to the status quo.
BUT, we don’t want it suspended … we need it repealed !!
Another total waste of time petition. It’s guaranteed to end in bugger all changing, as do they all.
Once a petition has been published on the website, it will be open to signatures for six months. At 10,000 signatures, the government will formally respond. At 100,000 signatures, the request will be considered by the Petitions Committee for debate in Parliament.
You get all those signatures and harrumphs, and then they might decide to have a short debate on it and then…

I gave up signing these a long time ago. Only direct action works – as seen in Gosport.
I am too weedy (and employed) to engage in direct action. So I signed. And I voted before that.
But of course it will do no good. Which is why I am turning into an accelerationist.
Do net zero and do it now! See where it gets you.
(Obviously I don’t want the UK to do it now. I want the Germans to set the example.)
I wouldn’t dream of telling anyone what to do regarding petitions.
I have come to the conclusion that they are a cynical (temporary) public pressure relief valve. Some petitions get well over a million signatures and change the square root of bugger all – aside from shutting the public up on a given issue, having had a debate on it.

You can already see they fear us.
I disagree, my violinist friend. Petitions like this, whatever happens to them, build towards taking the moral high ground. Direct political action on its own is not enough. This is war, and we need to secure our positions both ethically and politically.
Has it ever been proven that global warming is the cause of increased CO2 due to increased microbial action in the soils year long, and at elevated latitudes, along with the ocean CO2 balance changing?

Absolute proof is a bridge too far- but even extremely convincing is a bridge too far.
Well the teeth in the Keeling curve are definitely increasing and even more so at higher Latitudes.
CO2 is growing teeth…
Never mind about drowning in a boiling acid ocean; CO2 will bite your leg off (like ‘Jaws’)

For a UK temperature check, I went to:

CO2 Concentration Data
2024: 424 ppmv, 0.83 g CO2 per cu. m. of air
1901: 297 ppmv, 0.58 g CO2 per cu. m. o air
After 123 years there has been only slight warming in the UK, but this is within the range of natural temperature variation as shown by the Thi and Tlo range data. The warming is probably due to the reduction of air pollution that began in 1950’s after severe smog became a serious threat to human health. Before that time London was known as “foggy” London. I once had a light London Fog overcoat.
Note how very little CO2 there was in the air. This small amount of CO2 in the air can have no effect on weather or cause any climate change as claimed by the corrupt IPCC and the unscrupulous collaborating scientists.
I know what you are saying, but the temperature data looks dubious.
The site states-
“This page is a list of the average countrywide temperature in the United Kingdom for each year from 1895–2024. It is an average over the entire territory of the country, based on data from the University of East Anglia.”
So, in the last 123 yrs, those temperatures won’t have been taken at the same locations.
And many of those locations have changed from pristine rural to heat-island status.
For instance, in 1901, Heathrow was open fields with no acres of concrete, tarmac, air conditioning, or jet engines … it didn’t have any planes, let alone a Stephenson screen. It was all market gardens until 1929/30.
