From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

Despite high gas prices since the Iran conflict began in March, substantial subsidies are still being paid to renewables under the Contracts for Difference scheme.
In Q2, they amounted to £492 million, which included £373 million to out of control offshore wind farms.
Market prices rose from £74/MWh in Q4 to £90/MWh in Q2. However the average CfD strike price was £156/MWh.
Note that the recently awarded AR7 contracts for offshore are currently priced at £97.05/MWh, so will still require subsidies when operational in five years or so time, based on existing market prices.
The u**** is being extracted…and s****** up against the wall…
What is that old saying about bribery and corruption? I would like to tell Sid…..
Every now and then I take a peek at wasted wind, it’s kind of depressing…
So far in 2026, Britain has wasted £936,939,044 switching off wind turbines and paying gas plants to switch on.
Today, wasted wind has already cost Britain:£3,699,259
It’s 11am, so the day is yet young. But it is going to get a lot worse than this. The word in SW1 is Miliband would only take the foreign secretary post if his protege was given the brief: Miatta Fahnbulleh.
Ed Miliband has left behind a squad of his proteges and allies running DESNZ. He’s got two departments for the price of one…
It is striking that the large majority of DESNZ ministers have close ties to Miliband and are so junior. No elected minister in the department has been an MP prior to 2023/24. Suspicious levels of juniority… – Guido Fawkes
The UK is on a financial precipice. The ‘returning’ Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade is a man who was forced by the lawyer’s regulator (after 10 years of doing it) to stop claiming to be a qualified… lawyer.
Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary, was told to stop claiming he was a solicitor on his CV by the lawyers’ watchdog
The UK could… relieve some of the pressure on the finances by approving many more new licences in the North sea and reducing the windfall penalty taxes. But this purely ideological.
…people close to Fahnbulleh believe she has the skills, intellect and knowledge to challenge the much-disputed claims that drilling for more fossil fuels will bring the UK energy resilience.
…
Fahnbulleh’s appointment is a continuation of the Miliband era, which drew rightwing attacks for his mission to decarbonise the UK’s power sector by 2030.
…
As she treads her new path, Fahnbulleh will have to dodge accusations from the right of being a net zero zealot, and lobbying from parts of her own party and some trade unions to open up new North Sea drilling. – The Guardian
Costs can only go up.
Yes, that is what I was thinking, electricity costs are going to continue to go up for the UK and business will continue to decline.
UK leadership cannot see the Net Zero disaster they are creating. Time for new leaders. A vote of the people is called for.
Sadly, it’s too late. Our electricity generating and distribution system is up a creek without a paddle due to the ridiculous, unplanned and uncosted rush to net zero and weather dependant generation. We can’t now reverse back down the creek without incurring even greater costs.
last man out, turn the lights out (assuming there is one still on).
Cui bono? There are some who might not consider it to be wasted. Just sayin’…
Here’s a story re. how Norway handled its North Sea oil assets. Maybe you can share it with Ms. Fahnbulleh.

Off Topic My reply to the MO on the RCP8.5 problem. They’re falling back on the next best scenario – right or wrong.

Thank you for your reply to my query.
I will not enter into debate on this, but I would like to let you know my thoughts on this issue.
Firstly, there is clearly no intention of informing the people that pay you – the public – about any of the problems UKCP18 has and that it is effectively junk.
But more importantly, there is a firm ideological belief in the MO that radiative greenhouse gases are the magic temperature control knob. That is patent nonsense, as a primer:
“The Physics of the Tropospheric Lapse Rate Refutes the Radiative ‘Greenhouse Effect'”

That works on all worlds in the solar system irrespective of atmospheric composition.
Svensmark has finally been hounded out. He was entirely correct and that was a huge problem for the narrative.
I’m sure it’s trebles all round at that news.
Clearly it’s business as usual.

I have better things to do. That is their 9 to 5.
Falling back on the next best scenario is what I expected climate alarmists to do. They will act like nothing has changed.
They are
They’re NOT Wind Farms or Solar Farms…they’re Subsidy Farms period.
WTG and SV environmental devastating sites are not farms. They grow nothing.
I would not dignify them with the word Farms in any expression.
They are cash sink holes.
On further consideration, potentially calling them debt farms (growing the debt) could be acceptable.
The beatings will continue until moral improves.
The insanities will continue until sufficient damage is accrued.

Thank you. I spotted that error after changing was disabled.
The wind turbines shredding euros is a nice touch.
