Germany’s online WELT (published mid-May 2026) outlines a major health and climate policy demand made by a “high-level expert commission” to the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to WELT, a pan-European expert commission on health and sustainable development, appointed by the WHO and chaired by former Icelandic Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir, is urging the WHO to declare the climate crisis a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern.” This is the WHO’s highest level of alert, which was previously triggered during the Covid-19 pandemic.

You know, the fact that air masses move and shift heat around the planet by containing the characteristics of the region of origin and motion over.
What you describe is exactly that and any extra warmth added to that airmass cannot be measured other than by hind-tracking to the source region and in the UK’s case the SST of the seas surrounding us.

Go to the CO2 Coalition website. Take the CO2 test. In there somewhere, is a geological history of the biosphere, graphed over the last 500 million or so years. According to the geological assessment, CO2 has dropped near linearly, from about 7000ppm to as low as 180ppm, since life emerged onto the land to now. Temperature averages have gone from about 78F to in the 50’s F, not linearly, and not in sync with the CO2 drop. The mode for temperature has been about 73F, regardless of what the CO2 was. So why has atmospheric CO2 dropped almost linearly? We all know that some of it was sequestered in fossil fuels, so that when we burn fossil fuels, we are only returning life giving CO2 to the atmosphere, which will keep life going for millions of more years. But what I didn’t realize, is that CO2 is also being sequestered in stone, from clams, corals, etc. This CO2 will largely never be returned to the atmosphere, so the end game, somewhere down the road some millions of years, is that life will strangle itself out of existence. You have a duty to burn fossil fuels to kick the can of extinction as far down the road as possible, IMO.

The motivation here is that the expert commission was designed to come up at a specific point in time( WHO assembly) with exactly that result.
It was a bit counterproductive as it happened exactly at that time IPCC was forced to abandon the RCP 8.5 fairy-tale, which in return nullifies the acute medical emergency,
