Energy scientist, Vaclav Smil puts the total cost of achieving net zero by 2050 at $US444 trillion, or $US17 trillion a year for 25 years, “requiring affluent economies to spend 20 to 25 per cent of their annual GDP on the transition”.

So net zero by 2050 won’t happen and the increase in global temperature will not be limited to the 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels that was agreed as preferred at Paris in 2015 – nowhere near it.
…There has been systemic reticence on the part of scientists to spell out what’s actually going on, first because science is inherently uncertain, so they are always reluctant to be definitive, and second because they worry that if the true nightmare was revealed, politicians and everybody else would either refuse to believe it or just give up.

The average temperature difference between the Aussie state capitals Melbourne and Brisbane is around 4ºC, so why isn’t everyone in Brisbane dying from climate change? How could global warming of 4ºC make Melbourne uninhabitable?
Cairns is about as much warmer than Brisbane as Brisbane is warmer than Melbourne. 4ºC warming wouldn’t even make Brisbane uninhabitable.
And of course you have prosperous and high population tropical cities like Jakarta and Singapore even closer to the equator than Cairns.
If all this isn’t enough, we have evidence from the distant past that warming is not a problem.
Our monkey ancestors also did well in a much hotter world. The Palaeocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, 5-8C hotter than today, was the age of monkeys. Our monkey ancestors thrived on the abundance of the hothouse PETM, and colonised much of the world, only retreating when the encroaching cold drove them from their new homes.
Fish also did pretty well during the PETM.
As for climate scientists failing to tell the truth to prevent Net Zero being abandoned, surely the time has come to stop hiding the truth and let it all out, and tell it how it is?
Net Zero is being abandoned anyway, so what do you have to lose? Please entertain us, don’t hold back – let’s hear your nightmare, let’s hear and read the predictions of your dying climate doomsday cult in all their glorious detail. Go out with a bang rather than a whimper.

It is more complicated than that. Deaths are more related to unusual such as in heatwaves, more than from average heat.
Heatwaves in Adelaide and Melbourne, much further from the Equator thanBrisbane, can be hotter than Brisbane heatwaves.

Climate doe not ‘change’, it ‘varie’s. That is, humans have no meaningful way to CHANGE climate. The total human energy expended is more than 50,000 times less than the energy intercepted by the Earth from the sun and re-radiated to space. Photosynthesis is changes more than 50 times as much CO2 annually as do humans and is far more in control of climate than humans can hope to be.
My comment just a moment ago was sent before completion, but I cannot delete it.
Climate does not ‘change’, it ‘varies’. That is quite different. Variation occurs without human intervention, and in spite of it. Human climate forcings are puny compared to the important natural forcings. Milankovic forcing has decreased by more than 50 W/m2 in the past 10,000 years, and though we remain in an interglacial, all data tell us the temperature HAS fallen over that time even though climate models predict just the opposite.
You can believe the data or you can believe the models. They are incompatible.
Anrthropogenic forcings are ~ 1.6 W/m2 – that number is VERY uncertain. The desired narrative, however, requires the forcing, coupled with an assumed climate sensitivity parameter, be large enough to cause a 1.5C temperature anomaly; whatever the absolute temperature may be– somewhere between 283 and 289K. That too is uncertain.
Let’s stipulate that a temperature anomaly of 1.5C has, in fact, been reached, as has recently been reported – whatever the absolute temperature may be.
OK, so what?
The planet is still here. We still have weather. The rent-seekers still blame the weather on climate change, but after 50 years of crying ‘WOLF’, we all know better, except for the emigrating American climate scientists. They are moving to France.
It has never been about climate warming, or climate cooling, or killer asteroids, or Yellowstone erupting. It has been about making money, and I don’t mean us making money.

The real problem this dumbf-k has is that if the scientists would tell the truth, that there is no climate crisis, that it is a scam, it would kill of NetZero at once.
The problem for climate “scientists” is they have ridden the wave of future predictions of doom, and that wave has crashed onto the beach of reality – the future has become the now – and is dissipating dumping the “scientists” high and dry, on their backsides.
The true nightmare has been revealed – it was all just a bad dream.
Paris was two degrees not one point five. Then alarmists saw that this would take a long time to reach. Not scary. So IPCC’s ridiculous SR1.5. Neither have any scientific basis. So relax
