“Psychedelics for Climate Action” (Tripping in Church of Climate)

From MasterResource

By Robert Bradley Jr.

“Personally, when I take mushrooms, the last thing I want to do is think about climate change. But that’s apparently what I should be doing, according to … Psychedelics for Climate Action.” (Emily Atkin, Heated)

At the anti-fossil-fuel Substack Heated, Emily Atkin outdid herself. “I fell down the rabbit hole of Psychedelics for Climate Action,” she confessed. “Then I came back to reality.” She continued:

Personally, when I take mushrooms, the last thing I want to do is think about climate change.

But that’s apparently what I should be doing, according to a new advocacy group. Psychedelics for Climate Action, or PSYCA, argues that the use of mind-altering substances and Indigenous plant medicines—like ayahuascapsilocybinibogaineketamine, and LSD—can inspire people to help solve the climate crisis.

PSYCA held its official launch at the Psychedelic Assembly in New York City last month. I decided to attend, because frankly, I’ve been pretty bummed out about the state of the world lately. I figured at the very least, going to this would be fun.

It was—but it was also genuinely thought-provoking. So today, I’m going to tell you how I fell down the rabbit hole of tripping balls for the planet—and how I ultimately came back to reality.

Crazy is as Crazy does…. Defacing Stonehenge. Throwing paint on museum masterpieces. Disrupting sporting events. Disrupting traffic.

Just Stop Oil members commit crime and get prison sentences. Justice served. Extinction Rebellion is now on notice too.

Final Comment

Emily Atkin faces a bleak outlook if she is at war against dense, reliable, affordable, consumer-driven, taxpayer-neutral, infrastructure-light, global-greening energies. And she is tripping to believe that industrial wind power, solar arrays, and battery packs are good for the environment.

It is past time for her to study the issues with an open mind toward human betterment. And then enter back to reality. And then fight back against the Climate Industrial Complex and the elitism behind it with her being a case study of reason over emotion.

the use of mind-altering substances and Indigenous plant medicines—like ayahuasca, psilocybin, ibogaine, ketamine, and LSD—can inspire people to help solve the climate crisis.

I can imagine what sort of solutions might come out of that idea –
“Dude, what if we put like, a really big fan, in front of all the wind turbines. That way, we don’t have to worry about if the wind is blowing…”

At the MLO in Hawaii the concentration of CO2 in dry air is 427 ppm for June. For one kilogram of air this is 0.00065 kilograms of CO2.

My comment self posted. I add this to comment:

The claim by the IPCC that the cause of the recent global warming is due to CO2 is flat out wrong. There is too little CO2 to heat up a kilogram of air.

That doesn’t follow. It’s the sun that does the heating. The theory is that the extra CO2 delays the escape of the Sun’s heat, and so the planet warms.

Not saying I think that CO2 is the decisive factor in climate change.
But that doesn’t mean that incorrect reasoning, that happens to support my views, should be supported.

CO2 delays the transmission of LWIR at 14.9 um wavelength from surface to space.

The delta is very small and there is growing evidence that (a) most of it is within the first few meters above the ground and (b) the wavelength emission path is saturated.

CO2 has miniscule, but non-zero, effects on the heat capacity, specific heat (Cp), thermal latency, and thermal resistance of air.

There is substantial difference from CO₂ increase causing global warming as believed and touted by alarmists and activists, versus the actual physics of CO₂ in the atmosphere slowing the transmission of minor infrared radiation to space, aka lapse rate.

As believed by alarmists, CO₂ actively causes warming.
António Guterres claim that the oceans are boiling stems from this irrational CO₂ active global warming nonsense.

A physical action we know is incorrect as physically, CO₂ IR radiation barely affects the top 0.01 millimeter of water surface.
While physical objects, ground, rock, buildings, trees, etc. can be warmed by CO₂ radiation. The truth of the matter as suggested by Harold above is that radiation from a miniscule trace gas gets lost in an ocean of radiation wavelengths.

Alarmists focusing on one specific atmospheric molecule heating the atmosphere, oceans and all above sea level continental structure is absurd.

Highly respected Physics doctors, (e.g., Happer) state that the CO₂ radiation bands are already swamped. Additional CO₂ has minimal effect.

Something pointed out by realists is that doubling CO₂ from 420 ppm to 840 ppm is impossible. There is not sufficient oil, natural cag & coal to cause that increase.
A comment that brings us back to what is actually causing the slow consistent rise in atmospheric CO&#8322 in an environment where mankind’s contribution is well below 5% of the total increase?

We know it is not CO2 because we can look at changes in CO2 vs temperature changes and see clearly that changes in temperature precede changes in CO2.

We see the HT eruption emit substantial amounts of H2O in the Stratosphere; we see warming that can be easily explained as the result of that event.

We see denial of that by both skeptics and alarmist.

We see that the aviation industry is putting 100 billion gallons of water vapor into the Stratosphere this year; which so happens to be an increasing trend that started in the 1960’s.

The trend correlates perfectly with the warming trend that has everyone up in arms.

There is immediate denial from everyone (both sides) that this is presented to.

Are we really searching for the truth here, or are we enamored with our equations that do not work?

We have allowed politics to dictate science.

Might as well be the king who decided pi = 3.

Yep, I think we can be pretty sure the climate cult comrades take plenty of psycho-delics and hallucinogens.

I don’t think Climate Alarmists should take LSD or other such drugs.

It seems to me that their Climate fears will only increase under the influence of these drugs. This might cause a psychotic episode. A psychotic episode that might last for many hours, and end badly.

Climate Alarmists should stay off the drugs.

Historically, heavy trips cause long term impacts to certain users. It takes them years to recognize reality versus fantasy.

At the anti-fossil-fuel Substack Heated, Emily Atkin ….

She’s a self-described “climate journalist.” Back in July 2021 after I’d inadvertently surfed across one of her “Heated World” pieces, I wrote a post at my GelbspanFiles blog illustrating how she is not a journalist in any sense of the term, but is instead a climate issue propagandist who dutifully regurgitates what she believes looks like it might be true, without ever making sure anything of what she was told actually is true.

Certain none are to be found at the partly public-funded U.S. PBS NewsHour. Or if there were any who’d appear to question the Al Gore/IPCC orthodoxy by simply suggesting that the NewsHour might be wise to invite a skeptic climate scientist to debate with the opposite counter part, the person would be fired. Freedom of the press within the press itself here? Not so much ….

Apparently, at least an observation based on the picture, she does not spend enough time outside looking at reality is all of its magnificent glory.

But that’s apparently what I should be doing, according to a new advocacy group. Psychedelics for Climate Action Oddballs, or PSYCOs

South American Tribes use psychedelics in some of their religious ceremonies.
Native Americans had similar religious festivals, as do the Aborigines, Inuit and likely ancient Europeans.

But, they seek insights to religious matters.
Something that ignores physical constraints like physics, mechanics, engineering, design limits and whatnot.

Of course, deluded religious groups, e.g., global warming advocates, devotees & disciples are practicing religion. They just haven’t gotten to regular ecumenical ceremonies, yet.

It used to be that certain researchers could obtain vials of LSD from laboratories in Switzerland. Is that still the case for the referenced dreamers above?

A very thematic post. The desire to ignore reality and live in a hallucination appears foundational to the net zero, climate catastrophe religion. It seems as if the farther you wander from reality the higher your status in the church of climate doom. But doom is of course the end product of thinking this way and the sooner doom puts the doom-mongers in their place the better for the rest of us who want to live and thrive by the laws of nature and economics.
