Climate Justice | James Lindsay & Michael O’Fallon | Changing Tides Ep. 1

Sovereign Nations

Changing Tides is a new series of discussions from Sovereign Nations featuring James Lindsay and Michael O’Fallon.

The tides of change are all around us. At times, the changes are obvious, such as the demand to oppress all things “old” and to forcibly thrust conflict theory into nearly every facet of our lives.

In 2019’s Trojan Horse series, O’Fallon and Lindsay along with Peter Boghossian warned of the coming totalitarian wave of Critical Race Theory, intersectionality, and other forms of radical subjectivism. These ideologies serve as the ruling doctrines of our age and their presence is clearly evident in the topic for this new discussion. Draconian change frequently arrives with propaganda-spiced phrases that confuse the true intentions of its advocates, the same is true of climate justice. In this first episode, O’Fallon and Lindsay sound the warning in regard to climate justice and its contrast with science, real-world problem solving, and self-governance.

Climate Justice => fuel poverty

April 29, 2023 11:00 am

There is a pattern when people have to use a word to qualify justice. Justice has to do with the application of the law. There are good laws that need to be passed and bad laws that need to be changed or abolished by elected legislators. A law against drunken driving or speeding in a built up area is there to protect people and punish the wrongdoer. These are both things we have control over.

Climate is, however, a different “animal” that we do not have control over and never will. We cannot engineer the perfect climate for 30 different climate zones and sub-zones when we cannot even say what the perfect climate should be in each zone. Creatures have “evolved” to live and thrive in the coldest or hottest areas. Humans have the unique ability to adapt in ways not possible among all other living creatures.

It is not the concern of justice to make humans do things to avoid what might happen in the distant future. Justice can only address real harms caused in the present. Justice calls for evidence that can be tested. To my knowledge there is no HG Wells Time Machine that has been built that can go and collect evidence from 2050 or 2010. Climate justice is simply a fraudulent scam to steal from the naive masses and further enrich a handful of powerful and wealthy.

Notice how many of the climate protesters are actors, putting on their street performances and being paid by some shadowy figure who seeks to benefit or perhaps living on government benefits. Not too many of them are from engineering and manufacturing and mining and the likes who have to work hard to feed their families.

If they want to get acting jobs they must toe the line or be ostracized from the business. Only those confident of their box office appeal/draw will dissent.

A civil engineer ( bridge design ) was jailed recently in UK for a Stop Oil stunt where 2 men climbed up a major bridge crossing stopping traffic for 24 hours or so.

thats the issue , many are highly qualified in engineering- but most likely mix in those sort of social circles with ‘climate warriors’

YEP! Met an “engineer” who worked for a company who “helped” nuclear power plants get their licenses extended. Obviously the company’s owner new the ins and outs (or who to talk to or bribe) of the process so was in high demand.

Way liberal. We were talking about “renewables” at his behest, I would NEVER have brought it up with he and his virtue signaling wife (3rd hybrid or electric car!!!)

When I casually mentioned frequency issues and unreliability, HE mentioned the “spinning reserves of wind turbines. I asked where he got that idea. From a liberal rag, I think “The Daily Kos” or some such. I asked if he had done any research. Of course he had not. I changed the subject after asking him to check it out. I seriously doubt that he did.

They were a two income family, both professionals, who had lived in Chicago until they had kids. Then, like all good well to do liberals, they moved to one of the better suburbs of Chicago, Gardner’s Grove, where the schools were better, the police force was better, the crime was lower, and even 2 years ago, there were VERY FEW POC to be seen in their neighborhood. Those POC I did see were by ll appearances also well to do.

I notice that there a few farmers or growers or fishermen ,or builders or mechanics or truck and train drivers and the list goes ,on at these protests.
These people actually work and grow your food and work in many essential industries and have not got any reason to protest against climate change as they know that climate always changes .
When it comes to climate justice ,who is making up the rules and who are the high priests that are deciding that you or I are guilty .
I just look at all the hypocrites who fly around the world attending COP meetings which if emissions are so critical these meetings could all have been zoomed .
Their motto is do as I say not as I do.

A dozen years ago I was consulting on mineral processing for a company developing a rare-earth mining project. I designed a testing plan and engaged a university engineering department to build and test an apparatus for separating the individual rare-earth elements from a concentrate of the ore.

As soon as the work started, a university strike involving thousands of students broke out. I called the engineering department regarding a planned meeting and they told me that the meeting is still on. Engineering and science departments were business as usual. The strike, which disrupted the city for the balance of the school year was all arts and humanities students.

Where has your global temperature and list of failed forecasts gone?

If justice involves laws, then I demand thermodynamic justice and physics justice.

Totally OT but might be of considerable interest to Charles R, Rotter and not the other one, Charles Rex.
If you are in the UK with name like yours you can get a free holiday at Batlins, number of hotels offer free one night stay, restaurants free meals etc, only between now and coronation of Charles Rex.
That was in a way of bribery for even a more irelevant OT of something I came across while ago.
Einstein’s theories stipulate that nothing can move faster than speed of light.
Wrong.
Consider this:
Let’s have one of those powerful lasers sending beam of light to moon’s surface somewhere near the visible edge via a mirror rotating about 100 times/sec.
None of it is too complicated or big deal. The laser’s beam ‘spot’ will travers moon’s circumference 100 times/sec
Moon circumference is about 10,000km.
It follows that the electromagnetic wave representing the laser’s beam end will sweep moon’s surface at velocity 100 x 10,000km/sec = 1,000,000/sec which is more than 3 times speed of light.
You are welcome to think about it if inclined to do so, but don’t expect me to explain why the above is or isn’t wrong.

It follows that electromagnetic wave representing the laser’s beam’s end will sweep moon’s surface at velocity 100 x 10,000km/sec = 1,000,000/sec

This assumes that the laser beam travels in a straight line. It won’t.

The wavefront will move outward tracing a spiral arc not a straight line.

I though it was for some new types of laser not all

They talk about climate “justice”.
If there is such thing then they should be able to define just what is climate “injustice”.
