Scientist Rebellion Activist Arrested for Bothering David Attenborough

Essay by Eric Worrall

Emma Smart apparently attempted to approach Attenborough to discuss his disregard for the excess and inequality of eating at a restaurant.

Weymouth climate change protester arrested while Sir David Attenborough dined

A climate change protester has been arrested after reportedly approaching Sir David Attenborough at a Michelin-star restaurant on the south coast.

Dorset Police said Emma Smart, 45, was arrested on Thursday evening after an incident at Catch At The Old Fish Market in Weymouth.

Mrs Smart said in a statement: “The Catch is a symbol of excess and inequality in today’s world, Weymouth has average wages amongst the lowest in the UK and is at huge risk of sea level rises.

“Yet this restaurant still continues business as usual amongst the worst cost of living crisis many will ever experience.

“We don’t need another documentary series showing us that we are losing some 150 species going extinct globally every single day.

“What we need is action. Sir David is in a unique position to tell the truth about the biodiversity crisis.”

Emma Smart seems to perhaps be a little obsessed with David Attenborough? In February she published a polite get lost letter from her hero. This letter was apparently a response to correspondence which started when Emma was in prison.

The full BBC article mentions Emma was arrested under a Section 35 order, which in this case might mean she allegedly failed to obey a police order to get lost and stop harassing Attenborough.

Emma appears to be a member of “Scientist Rebellion“, an affiliate of Extinction Rebellion composed of scientists who are fed up with people not listening to their advice.

What do you think? Does Emma’s climate activism make you feel more inclined to listen to her scientific advice?

Emphatically No. Science is not a political process.

Near its end, the post includes, “Emma appears to be a member of “Scientist Rebellion“, an affiliate of Extinction Rebellion composed of scientists who are fed up with people not listening to their advice.”

As if their advice is worth listening to. Oy vey!

Bob, I think her google profile suggests she is a self appointed ecologist, what ever that is? I am going to do some research into fish later myself, a portion of chips with the Cod has revealed it is very acceptable. I am moving research on a level in the near future and intend to study Monk fish in various recipes…. 🙂

You can’t get Monkfish (aka Rock Salmon) in London chippies anymore.

Rock salmon was a name for dogfish to make it sound more appetising – like Battersea is South Chelsea . Monk fish was always a luxury fish but the tails only. The head is like that of a marine rottweiler on steroids. Monkfish is also known as Angler fish. At least in Aberdeen. However you maybe can not always take the word of a son of an Aberdeen fish merchant as for instance look at the weasely Michael Gove

Yeah, the Dark Side seems to have expanded the meaning of ‘scientist’. I recall the Ozzie cartoonist John Cook (inventor of the 97% scientific consensus on anthro global warming) marvelling that one day he was an ordinary bloke and then suddenly he became a scientist professor at Cook University! Not only have they done away with the scientific method, but they’ve also done away studying science.

November 19, 2022 3:18 am

This woman seems incapable of thinking clearly. Presumably people working in a Michelin-starred restaurant get paid above average wages. If they decided they were going to close, surely that will drop the average wage in Weymouth even more? And what does she want there to replace it? A MacDonalds? People might drive to Weymouth for a fine dining experience, spend the night in a local hotel and bring some money into the local economy. They won’t be doing that for a Big Mac.

This parallels my thoughts. Some one in history said that if the wealthy buy goods and services from the poor it will help lift them out of poverty–and proposed a great ball for the wealthy who would buy food, ballgowns, etc., from the working class. I would think the workers, fishmongers and other service people make more feeding Mr. Attenborough than they would make working for and supplying the local street fish and chips stand.

The restaurant will no doubt be supplied by local fisherman and farmers as well as being able to pay for more staff than a less expensive restaurant. And if it is rich people dining there then money from outside is coming into Weymouth. Looking at the menu, there is a lot of local produce so the restaurant probably provides indirect employment for scores of people and businesses. Stupid women.

I can, just about, contain my grief that someone gave grief to pompous, virtue signalling charlatan Attenborough.

And pleasing that the grief – giver was someone even more ridiculous than he has abundantly proved himself to be.

It would be nice if it could be confirmed that this lady’s path to absurd mendacity (150 species extinct per day) had been initiated by the endless nonsense spouted by the “Great Savant” himself.

Socialism merging into Marxism, which appears to be “

Appears to be? They’ve been on this a long time:

“But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy…One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy any more.” — Ottmar Edenhofer, Co-chair of IPCC WG III, New American, Nov. 19, 2010

I’d say her spiel is pure crackpot bullsh*t merging into insanity. Perhaps the good news, if there is any here, is that Attenborough gets to see up close and personal what his own crackpot bullsh*t has wrought.

Emma isn’t that Smart

“[Weymouth] at huge risk of sea level rises.” Now, that’s well beyond risible.

As for the sellout known as David Attenborough, he’s a human being and as far as he’s concerned human beings are intruders on the [natural] planet. With that in mind, it only seems fair that such a prominent ‘problem’ human being, is being harrassed in an expensive eaterie by a lesser yet more fervent believer in the faith..

Weymouth can get a bit of flooding if you get the right conditions, autumn equinox , spring tide and a big south westerly gale , I’ve only known the road between Weymouth and Portland cut once by the sea during gale force winds as its right by the sea and shingle beach . At this end of the beach you can catch trigger fish which have come from the Caribbean . Photo of Chesil beach

My opinion of SDA still not recovered from Walrusgate
SDA’s reported advice that walrus falling off cliffs was a result of “ lack of sea ice caused by climate change”.
Ref “Attenborough’s cliff-dying walrus convinced elite Davos influencers of a global climate emergency”, WUWT Posted on January 24, 2021

This is in contrast with SDA’s scientific advisor for that trip, Anatoly Kochnev,  in his own article “Pacific Walrus in Russia” published in WWF 2017#2 in which he recognises that whilst :
“Climate change has caused a significant decrease of summer and winter sea ice cover making it difficult for walrus to rest up on the ice floes or use them as platforms for feeding in the extensive shallows of the Central Chukchi Sea. Walruses are forced to remain near shore for extensively long periods , creating dense haulouts in the tems of thousands.”

the article goes on to state:
“There is also growing interference from predators and humans, leading to panic among the tightly-packed crush on shore and is likely the cause of annual mass deaths of walrus on coastal haulouts”.
Thus SDA’s own consultant has an alternative cause for the mass walrus deaths which is not solely to do with climate change.
However that doesn’t fit the climate change hysteria narrative.

Neither of them are sane, decent, honest or truthful on the simple basis of natural fact any educated person has access to. Both equally sociopathic.

Delusional or deliberately deceitful on the facts, to gain whatever worthless fleeting fame their sociopathy creates for them. When they die both will leave an evil stain in, and a very bad smell around, the institutions of real science, and the scientific method itself. This event can’t be too soon for the sustainable future of humans on planet Earth, which needs saving from them and their mentally challenged ilk.
