British green campaigner Angela Terry has plumbed new depths of arrogant hypocrisy, by demanding a ban on home conservatories during a TV interview – while sitting in her own conservatory.

PUBLISHED: 20:36 AEDT, 20 January 2022 | UPDATED: 21:30 AEDT, 20 January 2022A green campaigner has called for conservatories to be banned – while sitting in her own one.
Angela Terry said Britons need to dump the glass houses because they ‘act like a furnace’ for the rest of the home.
The environmental scientist, 47, claimed the move was about ‘having a no regret’ policy and protecting the planet.
But she appeared to exclude herself from the rules as she brazenly spoke from her conservatory in Wells, Somerset.
GMB presenter Susanna Reid pointed out the hypocrisy asking why she can have one but ‘nobody else is allowed one from now on’.
Ms Terry suggested because her house came with one she was exempt from new legislation.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. In essence this is no different to climate campaigners turning up to a climate conference in a private jet, and demanding ordinary people cut back on flying. But most of them have the sense not to flaunt their hypocricy right in the middle of a TV interview.

There’s no aspect of our lives they don’t want to control, is there? What on Earth gives them the right to even try this? More to the point, what difference could banning conservatories in the UK possibly make to anything? Other than destroying jobs and businesses of course, which is sort of rote work for these lunatics. It wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t for the fact that our hopeless PM will probably get talked into it. I remember telling my kids that we lived in a free country- I must apologise for that- we shouldn’t lie to our children…
That makes it rather a shame all those people died fighting two bloody world wars to preserve freedom & democracy against tyranny & dictatorship!!!
I think it should be ok as long as one purchases sufficient carbon offsets to cover it.
Yep because carbon taxes decrease the amount of carbon, LMAO. Words don’t make actions
Don’t forget the silicon solar panels made with components from slave labor in western China and powered by coal plants.
Slaves are low carbon.
And very low profile in green media
After decades of being protected by the media, the left wing sense of invulnerability continues to grow.
The real entitlement
This really is True Madness coming from confirmed Puritans.
THE main requirement for UK houses is heating, NOT cooling and even in wintertime, glass houses capture (and haha Trap) heat.
Lord help us, how much Government money (and utility-company money enforced by Government) has been spent on home insulation?
This Climate Thing simply could not get any more stupid
(until tomorrow of course)
What is actually going on here is the machinations of ‘The Green Eyed Monster’
Simple as that yet they will *never* admit as much.
What do we think will become of a world entirely populated by liars?
Seems to me that this isn’t news. News would be when one of these activists actually lives up to their own demands.
she’s says they’re bad because the world is warming- then TAKE YOURS DOWN or at least put heavy plastic over the glass
So the greens are now complaining that gathering solar energy to warm your living space via a conservatory is an environmental problem? If the “furnace” complaint relates to excessive warmth in summer have they not heard of using blinds or opening windows to improve airflow?
She’s just virtue signaling. As a UK “environmental scientist” shs is expected by her social and professional circle to say all the correct climate nonsense talking points. It’s is the “Emperor’s New Clothes” self-deception nonsense in our modern era.
“No conservatory for YOU!”
The conservatory nazi.
Next come the natatorium nazis, Bruce. Bet she has one of those too.
Kind of like John Lennon singing about no possession, from his million dollar condo in NY playing on a piano who’s value could feed a third world village for years.
He was a Socialist after all!!!
Sorry, but how do you think the Kerrys, di Caprios, Harrison
FraudFord and other campaigners, can get the message out to us the unwashed if they do not have access to super yachts, fast cars, seaside mansions and private jets? How? Tell me.Conservatories reduce the amount of heating required, and thus, reduce greenhouse gasses. I thought that was meant to be a good thing- natural heating method and exactly what the greenies stand for.
If she so hates conservatories, perhaps she should remove her own one altogether to be a pioneer. Will other ultra greens follow the insane advice, like children being led on by the Pied Piper? Will some start to question the advice -wake up to green lunacy?
What would happen if radical greens ever took control of government???It would be like Mao’s little red book- some idea comes up in to his head. There is no debate on pros and cons (the cons would find themselves executed.) Mao (and the greens) are so totally certain of themselves-no need for debate-they are always right. Next thing, it becomes a full-on policy to be pursued with vigour, regardless of the harm it does to others.
Say what you will, but I want a “bad” girl by my side.
They act like a furnace for the rest of the home? So what? very nice in winter. I have south facing patio doors & when the sun shines in winter (it sometimes does you know) it provides quite a bit of warmth to the room. A bit of a pain in summer, but they can be opened or the curtains drawn. I am planning on putting some of that plastic coated reflective foil that they use for survival bags on them in the summer.
Isn’t that a good thing? Solar heating! It’s free! Less energy consumed during the heating season? When I grew up in England the heating season was about 10 months long, and in summer we opened the windows. When I lived in Scotland, I seem to recall the heating season being closer to 12 months. The estimable Ms Terry obviously needs a lesson in logic.
Or perhaps she needs a brain.
As you and many others have said, passive heating and cooling are A Good Thing[TM].
These have been the traditional ways of keeping indoor areas as pleasant as possible.
Indian verandahs transplanted to Australia to great benefit, and Mediterranean courtyards seem quite effective in Greece and Italy as well.
Don’t be silly, people like her don’t need a brain, otherwise they might have to do some thinking!!! Sarc full on!!!

People who live in glass houses….
Its not every day we get such a tempting target for scorn and ridicule. Pour it on, people. It feels good.
Throw a rock
People who live in glass houses….
Shouldn’t get undressed with the lights on?
Shouldn’t stow thrones?
Shouldn’t lie to TV Licensing callers?
Shouldn’t annoy the window cleaner?
By “throw a rock”, I meant give me an example.
Us illiterates need more literation.
The term greenhouse gases will now be replaced by conservatory gases.
It’s another step up the social ladder don’t you think?
Just don’t be so liberal with your gasses in the conservatory… I get it now!
The left are called looney for a reason: they are sick in the head. They admit this when asked:

News flash for Ms Terry. The UK is as far north as Labrador, so conservatories have long been used as sun traps that extend the growing season and provide warmth in a generally dark, cold country. If only her conservatory could dispel some of the darkness between her ears
I couldn’t face listening to her bloviation but I note she lives, coddled by the Gulf Stream, in balmy Somerset, she should try living through a winter in Sunderland or Aberdeen before she casts her first reactionary stone. She probably still does not understand that her own personal green house effect is from the glass blocking convection not from the copious, cringeworthy, CO2 she is graciously expelling. Now that would be something to consider banning.
.
Yes, generally these rooms have windows that open so on the hottest days you just open them and let the heat out, it doesn’t have to heat the rest of the house.
The heat you purposely trap with them on cooler days reduces the Mount of fuel you burn to heat the house, plus these rooms allow extended growing season to allow you to grow food for yourself.
These room are a climate win for such as her and she’s too stupid to see it
Peak stupid revealed
Never mind the hypocrasy, just look at the reason given that the conservatory ‘acts like a furnace for the rest of the house’. What on Earth does that mean? This ‘environment scientist’ is obvious clueless and has lost the plot completely.
It doesn’t even make sense. Isn’t climate change policy supposed to mandate houses that retain heat better? A conservatory does help to do that. If it get’s too hot in the summer (for south facing conservatories), most people don’t go in them. Or they fit sun blinds.
I guess we still haven’t reached peak lunacy.
I just realised, I have a conservatory, so I’m even more doomed than I thought.
But, just a minute, a thought occurred. Maybe – and this is purely theoretical, just a shot in the dark – maybe I could – I don’t know – sort of – sort of shut the connecting door.
Yes, it could really work!
Thank God, the planet is saved once again!
Chris
even thicker as it would allow homegrown veg etc and save on winter heating IF they used thermal mass floors and coiled poly? oh except uk+snow lol
