Climate alarmist media waking up?
Germany’s climate alarmist media appears to be waking up a little, and thus are not totally buying the claims being made by German leaders that the devastating floods were due to climate change. It’s becoming increasingly clear the human catastrophe was the result of unimaginable government incompetence.
Though NTZ initially received a few complaints for blaming the loss of life on “criminal negligence” earlier, such complaints have stopped coming in as it is becoming clear as to why nearly 200 people lost their lives.
Catastrophe made possible by “inconceivable ignorance”
Today we are seeing unusually harsh criticism coming from a number of media outlets aimed at the German government’s ineptitude. For example, ‘Welt’ science editor Axel Bojanowski wrote a commentary that the flood catastrophe was made possible by “inconceivable ignorance”.
Bojanowski comments further:
Politicians, authorities and the media point to climate change as the cause of the flood disaster. Yet severe weather warnings were not taken seriously. And disaster protection in our country is at the level of a developing country.
The risk was known: Rainfall like this week’s has happened repeatedly in Germany, historical chronicles read like blueprints for the current flood disaster, and hazard maps show the flood risk. Yet politicians, authorities and the media point to climate change as the cause – while disaster protection in Germany is at the level of a developing country. An unbelievable scandal.
At least 156 people have died because of heavy rain in Germany. Rain had fallen in amounts that have always been expected in Germany and have been an occasional occurrence since time immemorial. The same places that have been devastated by floods of rain this week have been hit in a similar way in the past, as chronicles show.”

Those claiming that the weather catastrophe came unexpectedly and that there was no way to be ready for it are no longer being taken very seriously, and are only confirming their historical ignorance.

The Ahr River, the ground zero of last week’s flood disaster, is the northernmost tributary of the Rhine and has a length of 90 km and a catchment area of 900 square kilometers.
Lethal stupidity
As the chronicles show, flooding events happened dozens of times and the authorities were obviously comatose at the wheel.
For too many years a crusty old bureaucracy focused on climate protection while ignoring protection from the whims of the weather. Their strategy, as unbelievable as it may sound, was to try to produce good weather by cutting CO2 emissions. It’s that stupid.
The people who want us to think they can rescue the world’s climate couldn’t even manage a flood.

If the zonal circulation is weak, as it is now, then Central Europe is on the edge of the action of the Atlantic low and the Russian high. During periods of weak solar wind, which is the case now, the jet stream over the Atlantic is too weak to push the Atlantic air masses further east. The stagnation causes downpours over the same area.
This situation will occur again on July 24 and 25.
A Parallel can be seen with the wild fires that are happening in BC Canada this summer. The Premier of BC came out with a statement today that Climate Change is the cause of these wild fires.
At the same time the wise and timely management of these same forests has become non-existent by the same government. Clearing of brush, controlled burns and the stationing of water bombers to react to fires starting in the forests are put aside to bring a “More Environmental” approach to the wild fire problem. The same people who want to fight these reoccurring forest fires environmentally are also the ones who banned water bombers from using a lot of lakes to “To Protect the Fish Species”. There is also a reluctance to use fire retardant chemicals because of the harm they do to the soil until it is too late.
To make matters worse the largest water bomber in the world is sitting idle at Sprout Lake because it can not take water from a large number of lakes due to these regulations to protect the fish population.
So if carbon and CO2 is such a bad thing according to these environmentalists then why is it that EVERY YEAR this same inept BC government is letting these CO2 scrubbing forests go up in flames dumping MILLIONS of TONS of CO2 and carbon down wind. The haze where I live is so bad you can not see a half a kilometer for the last two weeks. We live 1500 KM away downwind from these fires.
The Alberta government just banned cheap thermal coal usage in ALL of our power plants because it generated more CO2 than natural gas would but any savings from that switch for the year is nullified by these forest fires in just one day. Meanwhile our power costs went from an average of 9 cents a KW/HR to 14 cents a KW/HR because we are burning Natural gas. My natural gas price has also jumped up due to the increased demand on the system from $3.85 a gig-joule to $5.85 a gig-joule and this is the low rate for the summer price. They are predicting $15 to $18 a gig-joule during high winter usage.
Sometimes an agenda and propaganda are more important than actually trying to prevent a disaster.

People die because of climate science and it is high time that this evil was stopped.
I live in the flood area and can tell you what realy happen: They want to produce more green energy (hydro energy) and filled up all the dams 98% . When the rain came they have no space in the dam and the water overflow all the dams, then the rivers and the towns. First they tried to cover up the real reason for the flood and blamed “climate change” but know they (partly) confess.

Unfortunately, the forecasts for Germany and Poland are alarming.
On July 24th, one low will descend over France, with thunderstorms in western Germany, and another low is already waiting over Iceland and will also go south.

German stupidity reminds me of American stupidity. The 2011 Missouri River floods were caused when heavier than normal spring rains quickly helped to melt MUCH heavier snowpack in the entire upper basin, and the Army Corps of Engineers failed to reduce the levels in the massive dams during the cold season to make room for the spring flood waters.
The snow pack was SO much higher than normal that year, even if had melted slowly, they could have expected enough melt water to refill the reservoirs, even without higher than normal rainfall. Instead, the whole river valley was inundated and lives were lost, property destroyed, infrastructure lost, all because of their hubris and mismanagement.
Idiocy… complete idiocy.
I have just come across a Dutch article (right click on article, select translate into English). The accuracy would have to be checked but it looks credible because it quotes actual sources and names a British hydrologist who was involved with the warning system. Heads should be rolling not a cover up by politicians.

For the record, the Ahr is by no means the northernmost tribituary to the Rhine, there are dozens of rivers ending in the Rhine downstream, this goes for Germany and the Netherlands.
They let this catastrophe happen so they could cry ‘climate change’. These people were scarified to an ideology.
