I view the proposed presentation (given by Al Gore here) https://www.climaterealityproject.org/truth) as politics masquerading as science. I personally don’t think this presentation or “climate activism” belongs in MVHS chemistry classes, but if that happens, I’d like to ask for “equal time” in those chemistry classes to correct some of that misinformation.
I have a great interest in the scientific debate around climate change; I’ve been sanity-checking these issues almost daily in great detail for about 12 years. I do have about 35 slides (graphs etc) that I’ve pulled together in the last few days, with more planned.
I agree with [another parent] who wrote about the Nov 20 presentations:

Just noticed this morning a short news item about Italy mandating climate studies for high schoolers, and most other students.
A better win would be to allow a follow up seminar rebutting the cult gospel. Then the kids might actually learn something about the world around them.

This program is entirely political and has no place in schools. Realistically, it is preaching their new religion to children unprepared to know or understand either side of the argument.
But it’s costing us “our way of life” and “much, much more” according to the people claiming that our way of life is directly responsible for the sky falling and we must change our way of life, or else. Cognitive dissonance never seems to effect climate cultists for some reason.
How is this lying vile human still allowed to talk on a national level? Are academics all sold out, that none of them are shouting from the roof tops that CO2 is a scam, which cost the tax payer trillions… Their was a letter sent to the u.n. by a large amout of scientist’s, why are none of them allowed to speak on a national level? Can’t they force themselves on the main stage like xr has?
Just in from WUWT: 11,000 scientist [clowns] just came out in fierce rebuttable to the 500 who wrote the UN letter. It’s just another highlight of the magnitude of the corruption problem. We have incentivized a tsunami of scientists on the grant dole over the years. More like activism plus grant money is the university education model these days.
Anyway, their dramas have no boundaries. It’s like the political left vs right: for what the left lacks in workable policy, they have always been more organized which works really well for them in compensating for their lack of truth and common sense. I’m not sure if the real climate scientists can get the organizational mechanism needed to consistently rebut and keep up, primarily because we’re not motivated by money and power, aka socialism, ultimately on the global level.
How can we motivate the real scientists to have similar magnitude vision/goals pursuing truth instead? Grand scale pollution and health targets? Low cost energy targets? Perhaps an alternate big vision can at least give people something else to fight for for those that crave that on a large scale. At least it could be the lead that functions as a distraction while they’re forced to look at the real science.

I recently wrote a letter to the editor of my local paper pointing out wrong, not true, or misleading items they or the TV stations have put out. If I see this near my home I will be happy to send a letter to the superintendent.

I went to school in Germany, and theorically to one of the best. We were shown “An Invonvenient Truth”. The teacher called it a documentary. That was in 2008 or 2009 if I remember right. My sister went to the same school a few years later and was shown the same film by another teacher, which makes me suspect that it’s in the curriculum.
We were teenagers and we had no reason to mistrust our teachers. I knew about photosynthesis and ice ages, but I swallowed the lie. So did all my classmates.

You have clearly come to recognise, if not the truth, then at least that there is doubt about the ‘settled science’. This is very encouraging as I have long maintained that there will be a natural backlash from our youth as reality begins to dawn.
Most of us on here, even the studious older members of WUWT, went through a rebellious stage in our youth, pushing back and questioning everything we were told was ‘right’. Most of it we found was right however, many of us realised some of the truths we had been indoctrinated with were not true.
In our day it may have been religion, the evils of alcohol, or gender segregation, perhaps politics, but we all questioned something.
It is my abiding belief that it will not take a generation (not even close) before our children and grandchildren collectively react to ‘climate science’, as the grape vine of Chinese whispers grows ever more strident.
The scam has a natural end, nature will ensure that, but it will also have a social end as more young adults watch the Yellow Vests in France, and the disenfranchised in Chile reacting against oppressive government policies to raise taxes under the shroud of climate change. And there’s more to come.
The western world is approaching, if not already at, ‘peak climate’. The big successes for the Gores of this world have already been made, now there are only tiny increments left, and they have neither the time nor the ammunition to see this through.
Unless we here are all very much mistaken, the recent, almost imperceptible warming the planet has experienced has plateaued for nearly 20 years. In which case, there are two possible outcomes.
Warming must be dramatic, and genuinely unprecedented, to even approach the alarmist computer model predictions or, the planet begins to cool, just as imperceptibly (hopefully) and trashes once and for all the concept that human emitted CO2 causes warming.

As much as I hope that you’re right, I’m afraid today’s young generation isn’t questioning the climate scare yet. The grownups (40+ yrs) that I know aren’t too scared about the climate. Their kids, by joining XR, are rebelling against their parents. Facts don’t always help, either. When I visited a town in Germany that is now famous for its cherry trees, and heard that they used to grow wine there until it got too cold, the penny still didn’t drop. It took somebody with a degree in history to tell me about the Medieval Warm Period and the Holocene Optimum and how the Earth is greening already. I thought he was exaggerating, so I set out to find the facts and original data. Lo and behold, he was right. And lo and behold, I was old enough to admit it. At seventeen I wouldn’t have.
In my own age group I meet lots of people who are happy with their beliefs, be it climate alarmism or radical feminism or whatever else. If I show them facts, like that their country’s laws discriminate explicitly against men, they answer: “We just see the world differently.” Probably, in a direct confrontation, they don’t want to admit that they were wrong. How do you change somebody’s mind and still let them keep their face? How do you make them feel smart while you teach them? Any advice?
I think we should find out if there is a similar group that disseminates counter-agw info using the same Goebbels-inspired propaganda m.o. as Al Gore’s cult does.

Yep–all concentrated along the I-35 corridor which unfortunately is turning a sickly blue color due to all those Cal. techies moving in. Georgetown (mentioned in another story) is right in the thick if it–Williamson county-fastest growing county in the country for the last who knows how many years. Glad to have made my escape some 10 years ago–things were getting bad then, now impossible. From the map, doesn’t seem that any presentations are in schools though.

Do you or does anyone know how this massive propaganda effort to terrorize our kids is being financed? Was there any coverage in the media of Al Gore training people in Minneapolis for these events? I checked the one in my city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and it will not be in a school, it will be at the City Hall. Kind of makes sense, since the mayor is a bit of a lefty.
How is this legal? Surely there are rules in place about this sort of political brainwashing? You shouldn’t be able to just turn up at a school and present theories as facts. We really do need to start fighting fire with fire and point out the horrendous financial and human misery that following this madness will lead to. Is this all a big tantrum because Al didn’t get to be Prez?

They are well organised and apparently well-funded, and both the public and the government here seem to think this is all good, clean, green fun. This has made it possible for our latest official energy policy to come out top-heavy with wind power, a disastrous move that will see the country sink into the kind of energy black hole that is happening in South Australia. Notice how the media were in panic about Day Zero in Cape Town in March 2018. National Geographic also hyped the alarm. There certainly had been a terrible drought and the dams were very low but no one mentioned that the rainy season was in winter beginning around April. By the end of winter 2018 the dams were over 74% full. This year after another good winter the dams are over 84%. Of course the reader is not informed that the biggest dam which holds over 53% of the water was completed in 1979 and only one dam, a quarter the size, completed in 2009 . But the population has more than doubled since 1979. The water crisis is actually not a climate crisis but the failure of people to plan and adapt.

The media are also being alarmist and disingenuous about another very large dam in the interior of South Africa. This is now less than 50% full – but again they do not explain that this is at the beginning of the summer which is the rainy season. Blaming climate change for the problems of water and drought in South Africa is simply a smoke screen to cover the mismanagement, incompetence and corruption of those governing.

Hansen’s prediction that New York’s West Side Parkway would be underwater in 20 years (around 2009)

Al Gore’s environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth contains nine key scientific errors, a High Court judge ruled yesterday.
The judge declined to ban the Academy Award-winning film from British schools, but ruled that it can only be shown with guidance notes to prevent political indoctrination.
