According to “The Elders” Chair Mary Robinson, anyone who disagrees with her views on climate change is evil.

Climate change denial is evil, says Mary Robinson

Exclusive: chair of Elders group also says fossil fuel firms have lost their social licence

The denial of climate change is not just ignorant, but “malign and evil”, according to Mary Robinson, because it denies the human rights of the most vulnerable people on the planet.

The former UN high commissioner for human rights and special envoy for climate change also says fossil fuel companies have lost their social licence to explore for more coal, oil and gas and must switch to become part of the transition to clean energy.

Robinson will make the outspoken attack on Tuesday, in a speech to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in London, which has awarded her the Kew International Medal for her “integral work on climate justice”.

The evidence about the effects of climate change is incontrovertible, and the moral case for urgent action indisputable,” she will say.

“Climate change undermines the enjoyment of the full range of human rights – from the right to life, to food, to shelter and to health. It is an injustice that the people who have contributed least to the causes of the problem suffer the worst impacts of climate change.”

The Elders” are a group of self important former United Nations leaders and other high profile international figures who seem to think you should do what you are told.

Mary Robinson stops short of saying what she thinks should be done about those “malign and evil” climate deniers, but I think we get the idea.

I think it’s called deflection, or something like that. “I’m not the Bad Person. You are.”

It’s meant to distract you/us from the hidden parts, which are very unpleasant and destructive. Keep digging and bring all that bad stuff to light, and that destroys the false accusations by the false accusers.

Psychological projection is a defence mechanism in which the human ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection

This helps to explain why so many people on the left gravitate to jobs in the theater, they are all expert projectionists.

Did they talk to economics Nobel laureate Nordhaus about the limited damage even 4 degrees warming would cause?

I bet they didn!t, I smell a lew.

Pensioners in Ireland used to have free coal! My Grandmother used to have a lovely little single level terraced cottage with a massive chimney, fired by coal. It was absolutely lovely sitting there in the lounge in coal fired heat.

In there anything the UN is involved in, that is beneficial to humanity? I ask because from what we see being promoted, by the various aged ambassadors of that organisation, everything they advocate is counter productive and damaging to the poor peoples of the world.
To suggest the oil based industries have done nothing but harm is about as bizarre as it gets.
Could we suggest she uses only wind powered vessels for her world wide travels from now on. Perhaps she could also set an example as an “elder” and desist from using plastic of any kind in her daily life.
Show us how it is beneficial to avoid oil based products Mary, we will follow your lead, lead us all by example.
This pious outlandish nonsense from Mary Robinson, is so offensive to the educated and the scientific community in general, she along with the UN, should be changed with hate speech.

She may have been triggered by the EU’s recent failure to set CO2 reduction targets for 2050 and the electoral gains of a climate-skeptic party in Holland. History is supposed to be on her side, damn it!

She and her ilk are not the Heralds of History—that role is reserved for the Pranksters on Olympus. The Pranksters have an inhuman sense of humor when it comes to hubris. They have encouraged the hubristic (e.g., “incontrovertible,” “indisputable”) to go out on a limb, so that, when the bough breaks, they can enjoy some cosmic mirth. That’s what they live for.

The EU is set on a course towards zero carbon and renewables… there is no stopping it.

They are just arguing about the details.

No the issue is the speed. The EU has declined to set a time table for its goals. It doesn’t matter where the ship is pointed if the speed is Slow.

Indeed. not only is it slow, but the course it’s on is incapable of ever reaching it’s destination (Certainly as long as they shun nuclear). If they every got their grid anywhere close to the goal, it would collapse long before reaching it. Actually, I suppose the grid collapse is the only way they can reach a zero carbon goal – a zero carbon and zero energy grid!

Those Pranksters do indeed have hubris and we will enjoy some cosmic mirth as they are rounded up for an attempted coup-d’etat against an elected US President Trump.
Trump’s Climate Commission is what is triggering these Pranksters, as the entire Russiagate stunt crumbles. Their court jester Mueller did’nt deliver – Much Ado About Nothing.

Climate scaremongering is “malign and evil”. Using children as ammunition, and destroying the minds of toddlers in the self-styled “climate consensus” culture war against capitalism is particularly evil and degenerate.

If ever I wanted a God it’s now. Just so that I’d know those scaremongering evil doers will rot in hell for an eternity.

“it denies the human rights of the most vulnerable people on the planet.”
1.2 billion people, 17% of the world’s population remain without electricity to their homes. Over rapid transition to non-carbon fules (especially if limited to wind and solar as many ‘environmentalists’ demand) will ensure they remain without for a long time to come. Thus, they will continue to cook over open fires and the children will not have the light to do homework and improve their educational prosppects.
Mary Robinson (who I otherwise much admire) seems indifferent, or more likely naive, to these basic human rights.

It is Mary Robertson and those like her that just know others are able to design, construct and operate and maintain zero CO2-producing electric power systems at costs below current systems. Likewise, they just know that others are able to design and manufacture zero CO2-producing transportation systems that have the same, if not better, human utility and at lower costs. Additionally, they just know that Western nations can provide Third World countries with zero CO2-producing electric power and transportation systems the West currently enjoys at minimal cost.

Their problem? Neither free human beings nor free markets will do their bidding.

Their solution? Socialism and its handmaiden, Totalitarianism.

I think, as is well known, the Guardian has migrated to a full advocacy agency on environmental issues. They have no interest in accuracy or balance. Its all about pushing an ‘end of the world is nigh’ agenda, regardless of the facts. Their removal of the comment option on most Environment articles is part of this – athough I was repeatedly censored and eventually banned, simply for not following their own view of ‘truth’.

Hilarious : A quick look at the Elders’ Page : How was the group formed?

The concept originates from a conversation between the entrepreneur Richard Branson and the musician Peter Gabriel. The idea they discussed was simple: many communities look to their elders for guidance, or to help resolve disputes. In an increasingly interdependent world – a ‘global village’ – could a small, dedicated group of individuals use their collective experience and influence to help tackle some of the most pressing problems facing the world today?

So Obama’s favorite billionaire likes the “global village” ?
Bet they think 7.5 billion people are too much for their jolly little global village community.

They are a joke.

“Bet they think 7.5 billion people are too much for their jolly little global village community.”

Exactly. That’s how we get:

“The EU is set on a course towards zero carbon and renewables… there is no stopping it.”

They will have to get rid of 80% of their population to achieve. But wait . . . they are importing a replacement population!

“They are just arguing about the details.”

Nope. Stupid wrong. The EU is INCREASING population.

Sometimes, I think these overpaid egomaniacs have no real understanding of how easily this planet can turn against us on a dime, as in start up another glacial maximum, and we’ll be back to hunting with stone-tipped spears and arrows, and Roast Beast cranked over an open fire.
I know The They wouldn’t survive for more than brief spell, but The They would certainly want to take a bunch of people right down the tubes with Them.
What has surprised me is how long it has taken them to admit they want to be the One Ring to Rule Us All, One Ring to Find us, One Ring to Bring US All and in the Darkness Bind us…. because Hobbits free and happy are less pleasing to the Dark Lords than Hobbits miserable and in chains.

Mary Robinson once made a useful contribution to the Irish peace process. I have no knowledge of her subsequent career with the UN and other organisations. Her comments reported here suggest to me that she has already overshot her level of competence and the stupidity of these comments undermine any respect I ever had for this woman.

If she speaks for the organisation calling itself the Elders, it calls into question its competence as well.

March 27, 2019 12:12 pm

The Elders have reality dementia.

And that’s just a polite way of saying that they are totally off their rockers.

Their point of view is so flawed that they might as well be declared a case of hopelessly lost souls.

I pity the fools. [I know, it’s somebody else’s line, but here it is oh so appropriate.]

This is a kind of reverse projection. One takes everything awful in one’s own head – the malign and evil – and one projects it onto those who thwart or disagree most with you.

How many ‘consensus climate’ scientists, environment journalists, or climate wonk people spoke out against using children as ammunition in their climate culture war? None I know of. I know who the ‘evil and malign’ people are here – they’re the ones telling toddlers they have only ten years left to live.

it’s an injustice that the people who have contributed least to the causes of the problem suffer the worst impacts of “climate wars”.
