If you want to understand the impact of climate change polices on ordinary Canadians and how detached our political leaders are from what they are doing by imposing them, think of this every time they say “carbon pricing.”
Think of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flying in on the Aga Khan’s helicopter to the billionaire’s private island in the Bahamas, part of his greenhouse-gas spewing winter holiday with his family and Liberal friends.
Then think of him returning to Canada to hear a tearful mother and grandmother on his “meet the people” damage control tour in Peterborough Friday tell him her skyrocketing electricity and fuel bills have driven her into energy poverty.
This even though, partially disabled, she said she works 15 hours a day and makes almost $50,000 a year.
That, in a nutshell, is the issue, because it suggests Trudeau doesn’t think he has to change his lifestyle to fight climate change, but ordinary Canadians do.
This even though the decisions he’s making about carbon pricing and to “phase out” the oilsands as he put it Friday — infuriating many Albertans whose economy is on life support — will change everyone else’s.
Now think of the rich, globe-trotting gurus of global warming from Al Gore to Leonardo DiCaprio.

In my opinion the hypocrisy of Trudeau, Gore and DiCaprio is a perfect illustration of the kind of world the green movement wants to build – a world of brainwashed low tech drudges toiling away in their fields and mines, while the new green aristocracy soars overhead on their way to their jetset holidays and conferences.

There’s a pattern emerging, a desire to return to days of monarchies and aristocracies where benevolent kings and lords would lead their serfs with wisdom, bless their serfs with their benevolence or punish them with violence. The rabid enviros – whether Gore or DiCaprio, McKibben or Trudeau – have never said the world cannot survive the first world lifestyle. They have consistently said the world cannot survive EVERYONE having the first world lifestyle.
I am absolutely flummoxed by the self blindness of the environmentalists in the green movement. What they preach is Others living the low impact and consumption life. The Others live rurally, of the land, bicycle or walk only, and are content in their village opportunities. The urban, sophisticated universe is for the managers. And somehow there aren’t too many of them.
And they get away with it. To succeed, the Greenpeace-Sierra Club vision requires a privileged, small elite governing the world, a world in which class structures and numbers are fixed on principles of gobal “sustainability”, and population sizes are controlled – AFTER 60 – 80% have disappeared.
And since the Green Collective is not advocating the US shrinks to a population of 50 million from 330 million, the program is on its essence racial “rebalancing”: Gore and DiCaprio and Trudeau are proposing we get rid of most of any color but whites (or honorary whites like Obama).
And they get away with it.
“And they get away with it.” Not in today’s world. The people are becoming aware of the deception. Remember the outsourcing lie that started about 30 years ago? It’s nothing more than wealth redistribution and the people know it. Just like CAGW. People in the Western/industrialized countries know they’re being strung along to give up their progress and lifestyles to homogenize the people of the world into the lowest common denominator at their expense.

The Toronto Sun spun off the Sun News Network – a conservative, alternate voice to the largely socialist bent media in Canada. (Yep, both countries have a similar problem – control freaks who want to tell us how to live and breathe.) Right from the get-go, the MSM and their allies, fought tooth and nail to put the SNN out of business. They vetoed to allow the SNN on the lower cable channels with the other news outlets and they were relegated to the 300’s block on the channel lineup – that is – on the cable networks that actually carried the channel. Long story short – they bought out the SNN, and shut it down. We lost our only conservative voice in this country. As for the Sun Newspaper – they are owned by the “powers that be” – so, like FOX, they are increasingly conservative and libertarian light. FYI, since I noticed the apparent unfamiliarity with our status in the North.
Addendum to above: FYI, There is an internet news voice now on the internet, operating on a shoe string and it is called The Rebel dot com. It features a few of the fired commentators from the SNN and they could use any assistance that our American conservative can provide. (No, I’m not affiliated with them. Just directing your attention to a lonely voice in the wilderness – no pun intended.)

The Sun is right in pointing out Trudeau’s hypocrisy… and Gore and DiCaprio but why didn’t they include Hanoi Jane? Nothing irked me more than listening to that woman (a guest in my country), bad-mouthing my Prime Minister. This is the person who should have been charged with treason by the US government… this is the person who insulted First Nations people everywhere by indulging in her baseball team’s Tomahawk Chop. We Canadians have long memories.

I’m sorry. Did you say you live in Canada? I’m not getting that impression. This government has continually lied about where these “refugees” are from and are not properly vetting entrants. So, that kills his stance on refugees. It is crap.
Now, rebuilding the infrastructure? There is NO money left to build jack squat. He gave it all to the UN, and we all know the UN isn’t corrupt (barf!!!). He has done zero for the majority of Canadians, and is now imposing a carbon tax that will devastate the poor and hard working schmoes like me.

The fact Trudeau claims budgets balance themselves is an indication of where he is at .
If climate changes as almost everyone above Grade 3 has figured out then it is either going into the next ice age or coming out of the current one . Does anyone claim it stays the same ? Yet we are supposed to believe humans are going to adjust the earth’s temperature by adjusting a trace gas (CO2 plant food ) which is highly beneficial to life on earth and is less than <1%of the atmosphere . Most coming from natural sources like water vapor .
Co2 levels are historically low and are increasing to the great benefit of plants and animals . Yet people like Mr. Trudeau want to reduce CO2 and raise energy prices on the vain and foolish premise that humans are somehow going to control the earth thermostat . Are they nuts ? That is how bad the overblown global warming con-job is .
There is a reason people prefer to populate warmer areas so continued warming is fantastic .
But lets be honest it is not about the planet having a fever… it is about fleecing people to pay off government friends and introduce a new tax for governments to waste . .
The government knows it's a con job and they are the main promoters . Fuel poverty deaths are completely avoidable yet government so desperate for cash approve the policies.
A class action suit is long overdue by the people who have lost relatives and friends to this government sanctioned fraud .

The threat to shut down the tar sands is in response to fear of Trump approving the US pipeline to transport that to the Gulf, on Jan 20. It is an attempt to derail the US pipeline. After the US stalled so long, now Canada is stalling.

Just this last few days he has said they need to be phased-out. If that isn’t “shutting-down”, I don’t know what is.
If O’Leary come in on a ticket of “Keeping the LIghts On, Electricity Affordable, and Grannies Alive”, he’d gain enormous traction.
So Canada is going to proceed with a carbon tax at a time when Trump is going to give the six month notice on ending the NAFTA Agreement. Un huh.

I’d just like to add perspective to “the lady complaining about her electricity bill”. In the province of Ontario, the price of electricity has skyrocketed and will continue to do so. The affordability of electricity is a major political issue and is regarded as the major reason for the deep unpopularity of the current Liberal government. A primary reason why electricity rates have soared is the Liberal “Green Energy Act” which attempted to put Ontario in the forefront of renewable energy and AGW mitigation. The GEA may have had good intentions but it was badly conceived and badly administered. As one example, the Ontario Auditor General calculated that teh feed in tariffs for wind and solar installations were so badly set up that the government has committed to $37 billion dollars in unnecessary expense over what could have been obtained with a competitive market.
Ontario is an example of what can happen to a green AGW initiative if it is now well planned. So the “lady complaining about her electricity bills” is not just someone complaining about her bills. She is a citizen who is complaining about a government program that has committed the province to an unaffordable program that is damaging the economy by making firms uncompetitive due to their energy costs
