The green Toronto Sun has finally noticed the gross carbon footprint hypocrisy of the jetset leaders of the environmental movement.
Trudeau’s cheap talk on climate change
If the PM expects Canadians to sacrifice to fight global warming, let him lead by example.

If you want to understand the impact of climate change polices on ordinary Canadians and how detached our political leaders are from what they are doing by imposing them, think of this every time they say “carbon pricing.”
Think of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flying in on the Aga Khan’s helicopter to the billionaire’s private island in the Bahamas, part of his greenhouse-gas spewing winter holiday with his family and Liberal friends.
Then think of him returning to Canada to hear a tearful mother and grandmother on his “meet the people” damage control tour in Peterborough Friday tell him her skyrocketing electricity and fuel bills have driven her into energy poverty.
This even though, partially disabled, she said she works 15 hours a day and makes almost $50,000 a year.
That, in a nutshell, is the issue, because it suggests Trudeau doesn’t think he has to change his lifestyle to fight climate change, but ordinary Canadians do.
This even though the decisions he’s making about carbon pricing and to “phase out” the oilsands as he put it Friday — infuriating many Albertans whose economy is on life support — will change everyone else’s.
Now think of the rich, globe-trotting gurus of global warming from Al Gore to Leonardo DiCaprio.

In my opinion the hypocrisy of Trudeau, Gore and DiCaprio is a perfect illustration of the kind of world the green movement wants to build – a world of brainwashed low tech drudges toiling away in their fields and mines, while the new green aristocracy soars overhead on their way to their jetset holidays and conferences.
Update (EW): Several commenters have pointed out the Toronto Sun is not a green publication.
Update 2 (EW): Fixed a typo in the title.
The Conservative Party has a Canadian “Donald Trump” running for party leadership (Kevin O’Leary) and with our Lib-elite PM, Ontario Lib premier and a old timey socialist premier of Alberta, home of the Oilsands , we are going to see fly over people like the energy poor grandma of Buckhorn Ontario deliver a right wing federal government in two years. Imagine another billionaire free enterpriser needing to rescue the poor in a country! My socialist friends are in deep d#nile and get angry when they don’t want to hear my message that the nameplate parties they support have no resemblance to the ones they used to vote for. That their vote doesn’t mean anything – their constituents are outside the country. They won’t have the chicken in every pot as promised: they will be enabling the new world order’s plan to outsource your governance until pesky elections are no longer necessary. Agenda 21will be followed by a host of new agendas and they won’t be voluntary. Ugly shameful people.
This article appears to be one thing but it’s actually something else.
The Canadian Sun papers are neither left-leaning nor green. They are exceptionally partisan tabloids and don’t like anything the liberals do, whatever it is. But, being more on the anti-green side, she can’t attack Trudeau’s green initiatives (because there isn’t that much really, more talk than action so far, and lots of public posturing in Paris). So instead she is whining about the hypocrisy of talking green and approving new pipelines.
The Sun never worried about the hypocrisy of our former conservative government under Stephen Harper, who talked very green (100 percent carbon-free by 2080!!!, or was it 2090?) while doing as little to achieve that goal as humanly possible, i.e. essentially nothing. Harper was probably a closet sceptic, but never actually came out, what a pity.
It’s all silly political rant. If “my” party does something, it’s good and if “your” party does the same thing, it’s bad. Boring.
Once in a while, our newspaper delivery guy gets it wrong and we get the Sun instead of the Globe & Mail and National Post, and I read it and wonder, how is it possible to fill so much paper with so little factual news? What a terrible snob I am.
Smart rock, you are supporting a nameplate partiy that isn’t anymore what you think it is. The libs used to at least be somewhat supportive of business and the NDP did think the poor needed to be helped. Now it’s a global governance by elites you are voting for. with these parties.
Bang on! The NDP are owned lock, stock and barrel by the public sector unions while the Liberals are a creation of the millennial air heads and miseducated elite (public sector managers and professionals). The Canadian education system produces innumerate individuals which the universities “round out” with Socialist propaganda.
Exhibit 1- Justin Trudeau- Bouncer, Drama teacher, Massive borrowing expert.
Yes I think Eric Worrall was confusing the Toronto Sun with the Toronto Star one of the most leftish leaning newspapers in Canada.

I can think of nothing that would be more beneficial to Canada than a strong dose of warming.

Mods you are going to have to lighten up on such politically heavy threads. I didn’t use any profanities or slander in my first comment.

Kellie Leitch is the only candidate with true Conservative values. She is closer to Trump than O’leary.
Are we the first nation to have a Zoolander for PM?
Does this fit into the conversation?

A man that has dealt with the consequences of his choices, good and bad, and worked hard, and made a success of himself. I understand he has a burger joint chain in the US now. Good on him.
It is not impossible he’s taken too many hits to the head as a pugilist and simply doesn’t know he’s an idiot.
I’ve always thought our overlords and elites were serious about their CAGW meme the day our head honcho proudly announces-
“Forthwith, no publicly paid official will remain air-conditioned on my watch, just like in our grandparents’ day, all for the sake of our grandkiddies”
to the tumultuous applause and roars of approval from those impacted, as well as those working in the great outdoors and under the iron rooves of our factories and workshops.

Socialists Justin Trudeau and Rachel Notley were recently elected in Ottawa and Edmonton (Alberta), both by voters who wanted “change”, Now we have the same warmist lunatic ravings in Ottawa and Edmonton and our economy is headed into the dumpster,
Here is what “change” will look like:
1. A major increase in energy costs, due to their move to “green energy” schemes, which are typically not green and produce little useful energy.
2. Huge increases in government debt to subsidize their intermittent and diffuse green energy schemes.
3. Huge payoffs of taxpayer monies to their financial sponsors, who will build these green energy monstrosities.
4. Huge increases in energy costs to consumers, who will be forced to buy this intermittent and unreliable green energy at greatly increased prices..
5. An increase in joblessness as industry relocates to lower-cost energy venues.
6. An increase in Winter Mortality Rates, particularly among the elderly and the poor, due to the greatly increased cost of home heating.
These dire results have already been widely experienced in Europe, Europeans rulers set out on this extremely foolish and destructive course years ago, and are now retreating as fast as they can, only limited by the speed that their politicians can admit they were utterly wrong about energy policy.
It is truly remarkable that young Justin and Rachel cannot even learn from the obvious blunders of the Europeans, but have to go and make the same incredibly foolish errors again, all by themselves.
When someone acts in such an obviously stupid manner, one has to ask the question – are they really that stupid, or are they simply corrupt? Is warmist nonsense just a scam to steal from the public, much like the many socialist scams we see in the developing world, where rulers get elected by promising the dream of a better life, and then proceed to live in luxury while their citizens continue to suffer in poverty?

It’s all about the ego with Justin. He is trying to climb the pedestal he’s placed his father on. His father was a divisive, free spending elitist with a good brain that couldn’t rule his emotions. But, who sees their father accurately? Justin is OK with being divisive because it connects him with dad, he spends freely because it’s the easy way to govern without messing his hair and he’s elitist because he was raised as a globe trotting elitist. He doesn’t have anything close to his dad’s brain. He is a child of his generation, no concept of responsibility. Just a pretty face to bring out the youth vote.
Well said! You’ve hit the nail on the head!
Mr. MacRae, I offer thanks to your excellent posts and hard work over the years in the battle for common sense. Hopefully common sense does prevail!
I too have attempted to enlighten our wonderful socialist Premier in Alberta, Canada. First pass was a 25 page document complete with three additional research papers attached, also sent it to the leaders of the top four (Liberals, PC, Alberta and Wild Rose). I actually did get a response from the Environment Minister, basically a reiterating the “Climate Leadership Plan” which I had countered in every aspect.
The second salvo was not so nice, in first person to the socialist Premier but this time cc’d to ALL MLA’s in the Province. Some responses, and maybe, just maybe, some enlightenment.
And in both correspondence, reference to the catastrophic results – why can we not learn from the past? Why do we have to go down the same road to similar financial ruin?
Time will tell but the only way to improve the situation is to carry on with the good fight. And I do thank you for that!
Than you Darrell for you mind words and your efforts.
I have also exchanged letters with Alberta’s Energy Minister. Here is a summary:
http://calgaryherald.com/business/energy/varcoe-opposition-demand-anti-oilsands-advocate-be-fired-from-government-panel
The Alberta NDP government has hired scoundrels and imbeciles as energy advisors.
Cheap, reliable , abundant energy is the lifeblood of society – it IS that simple. Fossil fuels provide about 86% of global primary energy. Renewables provide about 2% despite trillions per year in subsidies, paid by consumers.
Grid-connected green energy, typically wind and solar, is not green and produces little useful energy. The problem is intermittency. The sun does not shine all the time, and the wind does not blow consistently either. The NDP thinks that grid-connected mega-storage (aka the super-battery”) will solve this problem. It probably won’t.
They are hoping for a technological breakthrough at some time in the future, because a practical super-battery for Alberta does not exist at this time.
How can I dumb down this message so Rachel and crew understand? This is the energy equivalent of saying “If frogs had wings, they wouldn’t have to bump around on their butts”.

Following is excerpted from a recent letter I received from Alberta Energy Minister Margaret McCuaig-Boyd:
“ Regarding your concerns about renewable energy being too intermittent and too diffuse to be economical, the Alberta Electric System Operator· released an Energy Storage Integration recommendation paper in June 2015, outlining key considerations regarding three top priorities for advancing the integration of storage technologies in Alberta. More information is available at: http://www.aeso.ca/gridoperations/28793.html “
The key report is here:
http://www.aeso.ca/downloads/Energy_Storage_Integration_Recommendation_Paper.pdf
QUESTION*:
Seriously, is any of this proposed grid-scale storage technology practical or economic at this time?
Regards to all, Allan
ÄNSWER: NO – NO CHANCE WITH TODAY’S TECHNOLOGY.
Moderator – please fix typos – thank you.:
Thank you Darrell for you kind words and your efforts.
He also qualified for the climate prat of 2016…..

Congratulations Justin, you may be a winnah this year too, as climate prats in the USA get thinner on the ground.
In defense of Nick Stokes (I know, unbelievable, eh?), he has from time to time (recently) actually been Helpful. One wonders if he isn’t having just a teensy bit of second thoughts….. C’mon, Nick, you Know you wonder once in a while.
I was told to engage brain before opening mouth, Same thing. Nick does have some good stuff on his web site but as you say …. sometimes
I find Nick pretty good on the detail but blind to the big picture. Disappointing when he has a good brain and the big picture is so actively twisted.
Off topic, but couldn’t find anywhere else better.
I’ve just been looking at the sea ice pages and it seems that Arctic ice is way down. Any thoughts about this; esp. is it a) honest, reliable and slightly scary data; b) instrument measuring problems; c) deliberately fiddled data to try to scare Trump into the Greenies’ camp?
In any case, I bet the Greenies will flood the media with this just before Trump’s inauguration to distract from his ceremony!
I think realclimatescience.com has some articles on that, I didn’t look much but it seems to be more fake data.
I think the deplorable climate science blog has some articles on that, didn’t look in detail but seems to be more fake data.
A huge amount of el Nino heat is still circulating through the Arctic on its way to space. Meanwhile, across Canada, the U.S., Russia and Europe, extreme cold rules. I believe Arctic ice will grow substantially next year and probably beyond.
Trudeau has turned out to be far more Green than he ever let on to the Canadian public. If he would have been more clear about that, he would not have been elected.
Going into the last election, Trudeau was far down in the polls and was never considered as a serious possibility to win. But over the long campaign, the other choices fell back and Trudeau became the default winner. He did not get elected based on his Green policies. Nobody knew what they were.
Canada has huge Hydro capacity. The northern parts of the country have very low population and lots of Hydro potential. A carbon tax is not that big of a deal in most of the county. Except in the places that have little Hydro and all the oil. His father also split the country in the same way.
People are waking up to Trudeau now, the honeymoon is over. It will only be one term if the Conservative party can find a dynamic leader but it is not clear right now if there is one.

LOL!!!
Just get the word out that it’s really a tax on French-speaking people and that will get the big split going.
Well spotted Eric and well said.

It’s a Marxist government, the former head of the world wildlife fund in Canada is the real PM, he ruined Ontario’s economy and now they intend to bring all of the other provinces down to the same level, but as they are the most equal pigs, the rules do not apply to them.
A bigot or sanctimonious hypocrite, perhaps. I wonder if he’s an acolyte of the Pro-Choice Church.
The obvious question is if Trudeau’s policies are crafted by the Artificial Green Blight. In fact, the same question should be addressed to every Profit (sic) of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. AGB stands to make trillions off the prophecy, and with a global enforced monopoly will dominate the green energy market that includes nuclear, organic black blob, natural gas, etc.
I pretty much had to stop reading Canadian news papers because of trump derangement syndrome.
I was amused by the British Columbia governments lottery corporation running ads showing wealthy lottery winners chasing each other around in some kind of tag game using fossil fueled jet skis and boats and helicopters and planes.

And where would we little people be without ACCIONA hoi polloi hobnobbing at the Dakar Rally?
“This ACCIONA project lends visibility to its defence of the environment and its position combating climate change, aligned with the agreement signed by 195 countries at the Paris Summit, which came into force recently.”

A hymn of Trudeaupian adulation (to the tune of How sweet the name of Jesus sounds):
How sweet the name of Justin sounds
In a believer’s ear;
It gladdens Al Gore’s followers
And drives away their fear.
How beautiful his selfies are
Midst the adoring throng;
With mainstream media on his side
He never can do wrong.
How brightly his charisma shines
His gilded name stands tall;
In adulation bathed he hath
No need of brains at all.
Brilliant!
I would add this: At his town Hall meetings, face-to-face with the plebs, his answers are pure pablum, and delivered just as if he were practising his skills in front of his full-length bathroom mirror …. his favourite place, I suspect.
Someone says: “Trudeau said, during the election, multiple things to multiple audiences reflecting multiple positions on multiple issues. No one has any idea where he personally stands on much. ”
Thank you! This resonates precisely with my ‘practised-pablum’ theory!
