Hump Day Hilarity: Dewey Defeats Truman Déjà vu

Almost everyone has seen this famous photo of a newspaper headline from the 1948 election. Today, history repeated itself.

deweydefeatstruman

Dewey Defeats Truman” was an incorrect banner headline on the front page of the Chicago Daily Tribune on November 3, 1948, the day after incumbent United States President Harry S. Truman won an upset victory over Republican challenger and Governor of New York Thomas E. Dewey in the 1948 presidential election. It was famously held up by Truman at a public appearance following his successful election, smiling triumphantly at the error. -Wikipedia

I understand that TIme also had to destroy a lot of covers as it had the same cover as the Germans. The difference is they had time to do it. And the foresight to wait.

One of the things I’ve been predicting for months was that, after a Trump win (should such an unforeseeable event take place) that there would be a lot of Democrat Senators and Representatives that would suddenly re-discover the Constitution.
Low and behold, this morning I’m watching Barbara Mikulski congratulating Chris Van Hollen on winning her vacant Senate seat and advising him to call the President Elect and remind him that Congress is a co-equal branch of government.
I’m vindicated in less than 24 hours.

I say “turnabouts is fair play”. Here’s hoping The Donald’s first executive order is the recall of Bark O’bummer’ Executive orders.
