Whitehouse & Co. organize "play-in protest" using kids as climate pawns

People send me stuff. In this case it is a groaner of a press release where kids too young to think will be used as political pawns for climate change action. They say:

…will focus on the air pollution that causes dangerous climate change. Families from across the country will showcase exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: Our children’s health and future.

Right. So will your kids benefit from a future where electricity prices are so high they can’t afford to run an air-conditioner (due to high priced “green” electricity) to offset that “dangerous climate change” you are talking about? I find this whole thing of using children for political means distasteful.

Those poor kids are already ruined; it is inherent in their mother’s actions. Rich enough to go to DC and dumb enough to believe warmunist drivel. If climate change were really a problem, they would not need this PR stunt. If it were really a problem, the Paris accord would not be the joke it is.
No warming this century except the 2015 El Nino blip now rapidly cooling. No accelerating SLR in geostationary tide gauges. Greening. Polar bears thriving. Antarctica not losing ice after all. Mother Nature is mocking the warmunists, and this stunt won’t change that fundamental.

“Those poor kids are already ruined”
I wouldn’t count the kids out just now.
When I was a kid, I attended a Christian church, and did so from a very early age.
I recall one of the tenets of this particular church was being discussed in the sermon one day, when I was about 10 years old, which had to do with praising God using music.
In my particular church, the belief was that it was a sin, to praised God with anything other than the human voice. No musical instruments allowed. None. And if you used one, you were damned to Hell for Eternity. (Other Christian denominations do not follow this tenet)
And as I listened to this discussion, I thought to myself that it didn’t make sense to me that a merciful, loving God would punish someone for praising Him using a musical instrument. I had my first doubt about the truth of what I was hearing.
I think that was the start of my skeptical attitude. Even though everyone in the Church seemed to agree with the preacher on this point, I did not, and the social pressure (unconscious) of not conforming was not enough to change my mind. If it didn’t make sense, then it didn’t make sense, and it didn’t matter who said it did.
These kids will probably be hearing a lot of things that don’t ring quite true about CAGW, maybe they won’t notice the contradictions now, but in the future they will, and like me, they may question the conventional wisdom all on their own.

I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of kids are already showing this and it’s a great joy to me. Kids are by far smarter than many grown-ups think they are. I’m not saying it’s right across the board, but I do think more are keeping quiet about what they really think. There will be backlash in the future when they are old enough to make their views known.
And yes, there’ll be those who won’t agree with me – that’s fine – we’ll have to wait and see.

I wonder what the psychological fallout will be when hopefully the AGW/CAGW scam collapses?

Here in Ontario, Canada, our government (which has forced its citizens to pay $37 billion in extra electricity costs over 8 years) has hired David “No Longer Real Scientist” Suzuki to scare the bejeebers out of kids in a commercial. I’d link to it, but its as close to child abuse as I ever want to get.

I have seen the commercial. But (with apologies) I like this video of Suzuki’s opinion on humans on the earth:

So, who wants to be a 10th level maggot with him?

I’m guessing that a lot of these Networks, Coalitions, Partners, Alliances, Associations, Consortiums, Partners, Communities, and so on, are headed and staffed by salaried Directors, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Officers, Mailroom Personnel, and so on.
And, I’m also going to guess that none of them, none of them whatsoever, produce anything at all.

I read somewhere of the large amounts of energy needed to keep the world’s iPhones working.
This would be a very good place to start cutting back.
Tell all the “kiddies” that the infrastructure uses way too much energy and they must do without their iPhone, X-Boxes etc etc and go and play outside in the streets like us old fogies uses to.

Andy, these kids have solar powered cell phones and video games. Geez, don’t ya know if they go outside they might suffer from asthma from all that CO2 pollution. Google and Apple are saving these kids from lung diseases! It’s the new nkrmal.

So 700 moronic moms from accross the country and their poor children are being paid to attend this 2-hour bogus political event, and we’re supposed to be impressed? Shame on those moms. And shame on the organizations staging this sham planet-saving, hypocritical, faux-science “event”.

July 12, 2016 5:17 pm

Moms Clean Air Force has been out there for a long time. They protest climate change presumably because they are 100% scientifically illiterate and 100% needy. One wonders if they see their children as anything other than a little vehicle to use to make Mom feel very important. They cannot possibly care about their kids future. No way. They care about themselves and that’s it.
(Has anyone considered that global warming is the new Valium? Keep mom feeling good and feeling important without involving a pharmaceutical company.)

You nailed it, Reality check. Social climbing nowadays entails conspicuous kowtowing to the Progressive Narrative, extra points for embracing a “cause” as part of one’s personal “brand,” aping the idiot celebrities like that Titanic idiot DiCaprio. It’s right up there with kale smoothies and yoga pants, and just as phony.
All about the virtue signaling, after which they go home and wash their Rx opiates down with wine. I live in a town that’s just ROTTEN with ’em, but believe me there are a LOT of “closet” Trump supporters here, too!

July 12, 2016 5:20 pm

I wonder how many will show? Green rallies have been showing poor turnout lately, so if anyone is there to report on it, be sure to take some wide-shot photos so we can get a realistic view of the numbers (Greens and other enthusiasts have been known to exaggerate).

I wouldn’t go. The organizers are saying they plan to showcase the health dangers of rising temperatures at this event. I wouldn’t put it past them to give everyone food poisoning so they can blame it on climate change.

“Families from across the country will showcase exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: Our children’s health and future.”
And how exactly are they going to showcase the dangers of climate change at this Play-In? Are they going to point out the lack of snow on Capitol Hill in July? Or will the giant puppets morph into monsters and frighten the children when the temperature rises? They’ll have to enhance and exaggerate the danger somehow because climate change never seems capable of frightening people all by itself.

Louis
July 12, 2016 7:24 pm

They are taking children outside to play in the middle of the hottest month of the year, and they expect it will serve to showcase the health dangers of a warming climate. How many health emergencies/fatalities are they expecting to have that day?

Anyone holding a “demonstration” should have to post a bond covering the cost of police protection, EMS, traffic disruption, and toilets at minimum. That ought to slow down the parade of nonsense.

Worse, they are in a city with amazing FREE museums, and rather than expose their kids to the best humanity and nature have to offer, these “moms” are making their kids go to an pseudo-playdate. I am all for kids spending time playing outside, but not when it is going to be around 90 degrees and muggy. Go see the Spirit of St. Louis and the lunar module. The Star Spangled Banner. Heck, go see the baby panda. At least the zoo has water sprayers along Olmsted Walk.

“Moms Clean Air Force is a community of 740,000 moms …”
Really? Seven hundred forty thousand, eh? Doesn’t that seem a tad, shall we say, exaggerated? I mean, that’s a pretty damn big organization. Maybe I don’t get out much but how come this is the very first time I’ve ever heard of it? Aw, what the heck, why don’t they just claim they’ve got a million members?

Well it all depends on how you’re using the kiddies and what side of politics you’re on-
https://www.veooz.com/news/JLBkHZK.html
and if you’re on the politically correct side it’s OK to explode them apparently. You just have to appreciate the finer nuances in such matters.

This “event” generated very little (as in none) mainstream media coverage on Wednesday.
Note that the best report is released through Northwestern.edu:
http://dc.medill.northwestern.edu/blog/2016/07/13/play-in-protest-urges-action-on-climate-issues/
You can watch video of about ninety kids and thirty mothers doing fun things for the camera.
There’s also a mountain of posters with no one to wave them around even when the camera is
turned on.
