Whitehouse & Co. organize "play-in protest" using kids as climate pawns

People send me stuff. In this case it is a groaner of a press release where kids too young to think will be used as political pawns for climate change action. They say:

…will focus on the air pollution that causes dangerous climate change. Families from across the country will showcase exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: Our children’s health and future.

Right. So will your kids benefit from a future where electricity prices are so high they can’t afford to run an air-conditioner (due to high priced “green” electricity) to offset that “dangerous climate change” you are talking about? I find this whole thing of using children for political means distasteful.

The headline says “Mothers from across the nation…” I’m willing to bet, none of them walked there. If they came from more than 100 miles away, I wager they flew in a gas-fueled airplane.

Half of these “activists” will pick ANY cause that makes them look sincere. What they’re really doing is trying to re-live their parents’ and grandparents’ glory days of protest back in the 60’s, because they realize their own lives are too comfortable, too banal, too consumption-centered, and especially too BORING.
It’s upper-middle-class-wannabe cred these days to be Urgently Concerned with the meme of the day.
I find them incredibly tedious. Best thing we can do is IGNORE them.

The airplane was undoubtedly a turbine fueled with Jet A or something rather like that. Only piston engined airplanes (mostly little 2 and 4 seaters) use gasoline.

New England power supply issues are somewhat known. Now a MISO (midwest) survey has come to light as well.
According to this survey, Michigan’s LP with have a 300 MW shortfall by June 2017 which will increase to 600 MW by 2021. IL and MO shortfalls by 2018.
Internet search: ‘2016 OMS MISO Survey Results’ the PDF of this report has a long URL but there is a short article with links at: http://www.eenews.net/stories/1060038670
Electric power shortfalls are a very close.
Some shortfalls are expected to be covered by running “extension cords” from Canada.

The entire point is to get at the kids while their brains are most malleable to create a motivating false belief system around Climate Change and the need for governments to control economic resources to supposedly protect the environment. https://behavioralpolicy.org/understanding-uncertainty-how-to-improve-communication-around-climate-change-evidence/ is a good example of how all these issues are seen as a means to use behavioral science for neural manipulation.

the brain-washing — which is also “great” for deception/distraction — in the view of our current “centralized command and control” government administration can never start too early. not only do i, for one, blame this administration [and vote whenever i can to stop them and their confederates]; more so, i blame the parents/guardians.
however, forget about the perceived future potential threat of “climate change” — however this notion may evolve by the command and control elites — the REAL and ACTUAL deception/distraction is from the financial destruction coming their way: when these children become working adults — that is, if they mistakenly go down that path toward real employment — than as working adults they will each be burdened already with, at a minimum, several hundred thousand dollars of government debt … not to mention any college loans, mortgage, etc.
these actual accumulated national debt numbers do NOT lie.
how can we, individually, as families, communities and collectively, as a nation, permit this burden to be put onto our children and grandchildren. we are “killing them” even before they begin their lives as adults. are we really this self-centered and recklessly greedy?

to me, this is the prime example of the insidious nature of our current evil — yes, evil — “command and control” administration:
1. even though such children already face, literally, mountains of financila debt
2. they continue to brain wash the young
3. convincing them that this “command and control” govt has their best interest at heart — remember, it’s all for the children — as they push and cajole for destructive environmental policies, based on speculation, AT BEST
4. iwhile advocating additional stifling taxes
5. while advocating continued and egregious stifling of the economy
6. all so that the “command and control” elites, when the financial and cultural system does collapse, can then ride in and make the final promise: we, the elites of the command and control govt, are here to save you all
7. but we can do so … only if you, the citizens [previously freeborn] surrender to the govt your remaining rights
8. and, yes, we will provide utopia!
note: in my opinion, the democrats are the leaders of this insidious pack of bottom dwellers … but many of the republicans are not far behind.
Q: for how long can we continue to follow this path — these false leaders — without falling completely into the abyss?
Q: for how long will we continue to permit ourselves to be duped, repeatedly, by such elites?
Q: how much of our birthright are we willing to surrender to these elites?
hope springs eternal but we must continue the good fight; the fight against these dark forces. as usual, it is up to us — we still have the vote and it is many against these corrupted immoral few — as we strive to remain free.

People now surround themselves with comfy little cocoons of confirmation bias–where no one will challenge their own accepted, custom-made “truth.” Social media specializes in whipping up faux drama, faux outrage, faux “aggressions,” faux “hurt” and “damage.” This is where the hypersensitization and emotionalism of the public is coming from. I’ve been watching it morph before my eyes for the last 4 years. It’s like everyone suddenly has the IQ and self-control of a toddler. So I went to their website. Checked out recent blog articles, no comments. Clicked on the “Issues” tab and went to “Climate Disruption” and here is what it said:
“Rising temperatures, extreme weather, disruptions to the food supply, increases in ground level ozone and particle pollution – these symptoms of our climate chaos contribute to asthma attacks, heart attacks, heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, premature death, emergency room visits, hospital admissions, low birth weight, premature birth, diabetes, pneumonia, and even autism.”
It seems they forgot to include divorce, prostitution, gambling, suicide, pregnancy, baldness, obesity, bulimia, anorexia, rheumatoid arthritis, hernias, detached retinas, ingrown toe nails, traffic accidents and the Patriots losing the Super Bowl.
But the most obvious thing they left out is the elephant in their room: STUPIDITY!

Tom IF: i assume that you mean the stupidity of the American general public, yes?
because the govt administration, if anything, is NOT stupid; they know very much, i believe, where they are going in terms of leading the people by the nose … down that “primrose” path. these are cold and calculating ambitious people … who do not have, in their hearts, anyone’s best interest … aside from their own.
one might say that what we are witnessing is standard fare for humanity throughout the ages: a small group of motivated self-serving elites intentionally deceiving and thereby controlling the masses. the persians, chinese and the greeks were some of the first for which we have written records about such things; however, i am with that group which suspects that such societal relationships existed for countless generations before those times of those first written records.
we here in the USA, despite our fore-fathers sacrificing all in order to set up a society with a govt of, by and for the people — truly an exceptional society in the human historical context — seem to have fallen into a collective complacent funk by which we voluntarily are surrendering this bounty … without much of an apparent fight.
there is still time to change course … but the clock is ticking.

Taking your child to a faux protest that has no purpose other than to get people to pay attention to YOU should count as child abuse. Take the kid to the Smithsonian, they might actually learn something that is important and useful. The museums are even air conditioned.
In my experience, kids involved in crap like this are just parroting their parents. They are not capable of comprehending the issues well enough to form their own opinion.* Whether or not I agree with an issue or idea, I almost always feel a bit angry when I see children with signs at protests/rallies/parades. In most cases, the kid is just serving as a prop for the parents. These kids are being used as superiority signals.

Speaking with him, don’t know how we go on the topic, but you could see the sadness in him as his mother told him we’ll be all under water in a number of years. Where we are, we are hundreds of feet above sea level. He broke into a beautiful smile once I explained to him he had nothing to worry about (in more words than that). “will focus on the air pollution that causes dangerous climate change.”
They have invented a new science. I have never heard a scientist suggest that air pollution causes global warming. The theory is that CO2 (not a pollutant) causes global warming. My socialist government (the NDP here in Alberta) are trying to convince us that somehow our air is dirty (it is actually pristine) and that this dirty air is causing global warming.
There must by some kind of brain disorder causing our leaders to think this. Or maybe they think we have a brain disorder, and so can be tricked into believing this craziness.

To Jeff in Calgary – things you already know:
The 4.4 million dollar “clean air” summer advertising campaign by the Alberta NDP is a joke for anyone who thinks about it. Well, the NDP can put a check mark up as another oil company decides to shut down its upgrader:
http://www.jwnenergy.com/article/2016/7/nexen-indefinitely-shutting-down-its-long-lake-upgrader/
Alberta continued to lose jobs in June, housing starts are half of what they were last year by month and by year to date, there are lineups at the food and clothing banks. Meanwhile the NDP spreads their propaganda on “clean” energy jobs while the Alberta economy craters:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/24k-jobs-lost-2016-outlook-1.3550476

http://dailycommercialnews.com/Economic/News/2016/6/Alberta-job-losses-continued-in-May-1016763W/
Note that in this last reference, the young workers are being hit the hardest – across the country. “Who ya gonna blame?”
The school curriculum is being changed to incorporate Climate Change (CO2 bad) and “Green Energy”. No different than anywhere else I suppose. The US election this fall will be a game changer no matter which candidate/party gets power. Talk about “tipping points”.
Someone should tell the NDP to be careful what they ask for. Less oil cos = less taxes = less social program money. A few bird and bat pickers driving around the wind farms isn’t a lot of employment.
Most people around here are more concerned with the economy and the weather – not a little extra plant food.

Regarding the original Crusades, Tom, you may already know, but they followed after 200 years of incessant slave-raiding by the Muslim world, that depopulated the entire Mediterranean littoral.
By the time the first Crusade was launched, the unremitting hostility and military aggression of and by Muslim societies had already been well-demonstrated and was a fact of life in Europe.
The Crusades were merely Europe acting in response.

The reality is that the climate change we are experiencing is caused by the sun and the oceans. Despite all the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate. Before they demand action they need to figure out what action can be taken to intimidate the sun and the oceans to provide the ideal climate. The real problem that they should be addressing is Mankind’s out of control population and the children are representative of the problem. Unlike climate change, the out of control population problem is a problem that Mankind does have the sower to solve. If Mankind does not control his own population then Nature will, catastrophically.

Hillary was right. This may be the most important election of all. We can’t let her take America and the world through anymore of this abusive demogoguery.

Those poor kids are already ruined; it is inherent in their mother’s actions. Rich enough to go to DC and dumb enough to believe warmunist drivel. If climate change were really a problem, they would not need this PR stunt. If it were really a problem, the Paris accord would not be the joke it is.
No warming this century except the 2015 El Nino blip now rapidly cooling. No accelerating SLR in geostationary tide gauges. Greening. Polar bears thriving. Antarctica not losing ice after all. Mother Nature is mocking the warmunists, and this stunt won’t change that fundamental.

“Those poor kids are already ruined”
I wouldn’t count the kids out just now.
When I was a kid, I attended a Christian church, and did so from a very early age.
I recall one of the tenets of this particular church was being discussed in the sermon one day, when I was about 10 years old, which had to do with praising God using music.
In my particular church, the belief was that it was a sin, to praised God with anything other than the human voice. No musical instruments allowed. None. And if you used one, you were damned to Hell for Eternity. (Other Christian denominations do not follow this tenet)
And as I listened to this discussion, I thought to myself that it didn’t make sense to me that a merciful, loving God would punish someone for praising Him using a musical instrument. I had my first doubt about the truth of what I was hearing.
I think that was the start of my skeptical attitude. Even though everyone in the Church seemed to agree with the preacher on this point, I did not, and the social pressure (unconscious) of not conforming was not enough to change my mind. If it didn’t make sense, then it didn’t make sense, and it didn’t matter who said it did.
These kids will probably be hearing a lot of things that don’t ring quite true about CAGW, maybe they won’t notice the contradictions now, but in the future they will, and like me, they may question the conventional wisdom all on their own.

I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of kids are already showing this and it’s a great joy to me. Kids are by far smarter than many grown-ups think they are. I’m not saying it’s right across the board, but I do think more are keeping quiet about what they really think. There will be backlash in the future when they are old enough to make their views known.
And yes, there’ll be those who won’t agree with me – that’s fine – we’ll have to wait and see.

I wonder what the psychological fallout will be when hopefully the AGW/CAGW scam collapses?

Here in Ontario, Canada, our government (which has forced its citizens to pay $37 billion in extra electricity costs over 8 years) has hired David “No Longer Real Scientist” Suzuki to scare the bejeebers out of kids in a commercial. I’d link to it, but its as close to child abuse as I ever want to get.

I have seen the commercial. But (with apologies) I like this video of Suzuki’s opinion on humans on the earth:

So, who wants to be a 10th level maggot with him?

I’m guessing that a lot of these Networks, Coalitions, Partners, Alliances, Associations, Consortiums, Partners, Communities, and so on, are headed and staffed by salaried Directors, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Officers, Mailroom Personnel, and so on.
And, I’m also going to guess that none of them, none of them whatsoever, produce anything at all.

I read somewhere of the large amounts of energy needed to keep the world’s iPhones working.
This would be a very good place to start cutting back.
Tell all the “kiddies” that the infrastructure uses way too much energy and they must do without their iPhone, X-Boxes etc etc and go and play outside in the streets like us old fogies uses to.

Andy, these kids have solar powered cell phones and video games. Geez, don’t ya know if they go outside they might suffer from asthma from all that CO2 pollution. Google and Apple are saving these kids from lung diseases! It’s the new nkrmal.

So 700 moronic moms from accross the country and their poor children are being paid to attend this 2-hour bogus political event, and we’re supposed to be impressed? Shame on those moms. And shame on the organizations staging this sham planet-saving, hypocritical, faux-science “event”.

July 12, 2016 5:17 pm

Moms Clean Air Force has been out there for a long time. They protest climate change presumably because they are 100% scientifically illiterate and 100% needy. One wonders if they see their children as anything other than a little vehicle to use to make Mom feel very important. They cannot possibly care about their kids future. No way. They care about themselves and that’s it.
(Has anyone considered that global warming is the new Valium? Keep mom feeling good and feeling important without involving a pharmaceutical company.)

You nailed it, Reality check. Social climbing nowadays entails conspicuous kowtowing to the Progressive Narrative, extra points for embracing a “cause” as part of one’s personal “brand,” aping the idiot celebrities like that Titanic idiot DiCaprio. It’s right up there with kale smoothies and yoga pants, and just as phony.
All about the virtue signaling, after which they go home and wash their Rx opiates down with wine. I live in a town that’s just ROTTEN with ’em, but believe me there are a LOT of “closet” Trump supporters here, too!

July 12, 2016 5:20 pm

I wonder how many will show? Green rallies have been showing poor turnout lately, so if anyone is there to report on it, be sure to take some wide-shot photos so we can get a realistic view of the numbers (Greens and other enthusiasts have been known to exaggerate).

I wouldn’t go. The organizers are saying they plan to showcase the health dangers of rising temperatures at this event. I wouldn’t put it past them to give everyone food poisoning so they can blame it on climate change.

“Families from across the country will showcase exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: Our children’s health and future.”
And how exactly are they going to showcase the dangers of climate change at this Play-In? Are they going to point out the lack of snow on Capitol Hill in July? Or will the giant puppets morph into monsters and frighten the children when the temperature rises? They’ll have to enhance and exaggerate the danger somehow because climate change never seems capable of frightening people all by itself.

Louis
July 12, 2016 7:24 pm

They are taking children outside to play in the middle of the hottest month of the year, and they expect it will serve to showcase the health dangers of a warming climate. How many health emergencies/fatalities are they expecting to have that day?

Anyone holding a “demonstration” should have to post a bond covering the cost of police protection, EMS, traffic disruption, and toilets at minimum. That ought to slow down the parade of nonsense.

Worse, they are in a city with amazing FREE museums, and rather than expose their kids to the best humanity and nature have to offer, these “moms” are making their kids go to an pseudo-playdate. I am all for kids spending time playing outside, but not when it is going to be around 90 degrees and muggy. Go see the Spirit of St. Louis and the lunar module. The Star Spangled Banner. Heck, go see the baby panda. At least the zoo has water sprayers along Olmsted Walk.

“Moms Clean Air Force is a community of 740,000 moms …”
Really? Seven hundred forty thousand, eh? Doesn’t that seem a tad, shall we say, exaggerated? I mean, that’s a pretty damn big organization. Maybe I don’t get out much but how come this is the very first time I’ve ever heard of it? Aw, what the heck, why don’t they just claim they’ve got a million members?

And just how many of the foregoing can we expect to know anything about climate?

Well it all depends on how you’re using the kiddies and what side of politics you’re on-

and if you’re on the politically correct side it’s OK to explode them apparently. You just have to appreciate the finer nuances in such matters.

This “event” generated very little (as in none) mainstream media coverage on Wednesday.
Note that the best report is released through Northwestern.edu:
http://dc.medill.northwestern.edu/blog/2016/07/13/play-in-protest-urges-action-on-climate-issues/
You can watch video of about ninety kids and thirty mothers doing fun things for the camera.
There’s also a mountain of posters with no one to wave them around even when the camera is
turned on.
