From the hot climate made him do it department comes this report from Donna LaFramboise on the “hacker generated” emails allegedly not from former IPCC head Rajenda Pachauri. You might need a bath after you read some of these.
I sense a sequel to his smutty romance novel “Return to Almora” perhaps penned from prison?Donna LaFramboise has been following the Pachauri/IPCC loose cannon fo years and writes:
An online Indian news source has published a collection of electronic messages allegedly sent by Pachauri to this unnamed 29-year-old woman. They now form part of a police document known as a First Information Report (FIR). The online version of these messages is difficult to read, so I’ve cut-and-pasted the text, added some formatting, and produced a 23-page PDF available here.
Pachauri, the recently resigned chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has PR flaks and a legal team. What is his version of events? Here’s a quote from a Reuters news story:
[Pachauri’s] lawyers have said his computer and mobile phone were hacked and that vested interests were maligning him because of his outspoken stand on global warming.
Shadowy, nefarious interests are out to get him, so they hacked his electronic devices to make him look bad. Nice try, but few people who examine firsthand the text messages and e-mails Pachauri says are fake are likely to believe that.
…
…Pachauri is apparently the kind of boss who not only expresses opinions about whether his subordinates should go to the gym, he’s the sort who tells female employees:
I am yours for life…and will always be yours, even when someone else enters your life.
And you have hurt me so often by being inconsistently cold on so many occasions. Not letting me touch you, even though I have always treated your body with reverence and as sacred. Perhaps, you regard a physical relationship as a matter of expediency and convenience. Well I don’t, and certainly not with your body which I worship, as you should have found out by not. Even when I “grabbed you body” I had my left hand over your right breast. Did I make even the slightest attempt to hold it in my hand or fondle you there? [typos in original, p. 6, line 180+]
He’s a prize, all right. In a few lines, he criticizes her for trying to fend him off, implies that she must be a slut since she objects to his ‘reverent’ embrace, and argues that he’s virtuous because he didn’t take as many liberties as he might have.
As the Shub Niggurath blog observed yesterday, this sordid saga took a vicious turn in December 2014. Not wanting to sit beside him on a plane one more time, this young woman attempted to sit on her own in economy class. Pachauri allegedly responded with an e-mail that reads in part:
you should reflect on the massive insult you heaped on me by indicating that I was so toxic that you would prefer not to sit next to me on the plane. If that be the case there is no room for any interaction between us…To me that act of yours represented the ultimate in haughtiness, arrogance and insulting behaviour. If you had any human sensitivity you would have realised what you have done, and possibly apologised.
You are welcome to remain a paid guest of TERI. I really would not burden you with any work in future. [p.20, line 754+]
I’ve read all of these electronic messages twice. They tell the story of a young woman who, following months of valiant struggle, perseverance, and vast patience effectively loses her job because she won’t let her boss grope her.
At the end of the police document, the complainant sums up her overall experience:
Whenever I had to travel with Dr. Pachauri for work, he would use the opportunity to constantly say vulgar and demeaning things to me. Whenever I sat next to him on the flight, he would try to hold my hand and tell me how much he loved me. If I ever spoke to any other male colleague, he would remark that I was going to sleep with him. I made repeated requests and pleas to Dr. Pachauri to stop this behaviour towards me. I have categorically told him not to touch me in appropriately or to hold me or kiss me, but Dr. Pachauri did not stop…
I feel broken and scarred in body and mind due to Dr. Pachauri’s behavior and actions…I get frequent panic attacks due to the constant harassment and being made to feel like an object of vulgar desire from this man, who is old enough to be my grandfather…
Till date I was extremely scared of going and reporting the behaviour of Dr. Pachauri, as he is the head of the organization for which I work and I did not know who I could turn to for help. I have tried to ignore and brush aside a lot of offensive behaviour from Dr. Pachauri as I was very scared of losing my reputation and employment if I complained to anyone…I request you to register my complaint against Dr. Pachauri and bring him to justice. [pp. 20-21, line 785+]
Donna adds:
“…anyone who goes to the trouble of looking directly at this collection of electronic messages will find it difficult to believe that this matter has anything to do with villainous hackers trying to smear a climate warrior.”

For those complaining that this isn’t a climate story, sorry, but Patchy’s own layers have MADE is a climate story (bold mine):
[Pachauri’s] lawyers have said his computer and mobile phone were hacked and that vested interests were maligning him because of his outspoken stand on global warming.
Oddly, this incriminates him further in my mind. If someone were going to the trouble of breaking into his computer and phone in order to discredit him because of his stand on global warming, wouldn’t it have made a lot more sense to plant email like, oh, I don’t know, messages saying he knows the science is bunk?
Well who knew. Patchy’s lawyers come in layers.
Reblogged this on gottadobetterthanthis and commented:

While it is important to remember being a bad person doesn’t automatically make one wrong, this man has already asserted that he is a religious zealot with regard to environmentalism and global warming alarmism. This is a man who has demonstrated he has a very warped and immoral sense of dharma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dharma
Wether his personal mobile phone and/or PC (Or whatever) were hacked, the mail/text servers will have a copy so can easily be verified which the Police investigation, if not “knobbled”, can get access to.
“Return to Amoral” by Dr Strangelove.
Wow these hackers are serious creative writers. They did not just pop in to make lurid or vulgar suggestion to stitch up Dr.P, they made up a whole character profile and turned it into a serialized novel.
He’s going to have to pay some serious baksheesh to police, prosecutors and judge to get off this one.
Probably safer to rely on his voodoo heart condition to keep him out of jail.
Really: what Pachauri writes to people in private is none of your business and if any of you try to claim you have any superior morality becoming like the worst tabloid gossipmongers you need to tell your husbands and wives about your desperate states of mind.
I’m sure lots of you are so staid and boring that you only have sex in silence with the lights out in the bedroom, but hundreds of millions of people are more interesting than that.
I couldn’t give a damn if Pachauri has a lucid tongue where ‘bedroom romance’ is concerned: it is not a crime, it is not a perversion and it is nothing to be ashamed of.
You are the ones to be ashamed of yourselves in trying to make out that normality is to be a monastic prude 99% of the time whilst miraculously transporting your wife to the dark blue yonder the 1% of the time that you reveal your true colours……….
As for hacking people’s private accounts, if you don’t think that MI6, CIA, NSA etc etc haven’t read every one of all your emails you are so off with the fairies as to be in need of protection for your own safety. They hack with impunity, reduce the concept of privacy to an historical artefact and yet make out that no-one should be alllowed to do the same to them in return.
If Pachauri has been molesting people, then he’ll get his just desserts in court.
But if he just wrote some steamy novel, then really: you guys had better open your own lives to full public scrutiny, and by that, courtesy of this article, that must include a detailed historical record of all your sexual tastes, acts and partners.
Fancy that????
rtj1211’s insightful remarks have opened my prudish and hypocritical eyes. As a result, I’m now prepared to publicly “reveal my true colors”. I wear women’s under-drawers and fancy a nanny-goat. I write her steamy goat-poems, but she finds me disgusting. I’ve grown a goatee similar to Pachauri’s, so I know it isn’t my looks that offend. Maybe it’s the silk panties? Could my goat-goddess be a prude?
There! I feel “normal” already. I do believe I feel another poem coming on.
LOL. Hey, Claude, you could write a book! 🙂
rtj, I think you’ll find that much of what he was engaged in IS a crime, a perversion and something to be very ashamed of. He was blatently sexually harassing this woman, if the texts and emails are genuine and there’s no reason to think otherwise, especially as this is not the only woman to come forward. They guy abused his position of authority and high authority at that. Women are particularly vulnerable in countries like India and those who want to sweep this under the carpet are just following in the footsteps of generations of people who thought it was ok to treat women like second class citizens. Even in the West it’s hard for people (including men) to prove they’ve been bullied by their employers. Texts and messages like this are proof of how secure he felt in his abuse. For every text there would be hours of similar, verbal assaults that would come down to her word against his and be almost useless in court. If nothing else, spare some thought for the torment of the victim and that he’d probably got away with his behaviour if he hadn’t added the final insult of effectively sacking her.
reading the emails there is a section in which packy threatens to fast until the girl shows him affection. I didn’t bother to read further as this has nothing to do with with love. it is abusive manipulation.
sex is supposed to be consensual. if you threaten to harm yourself unless the other person gives you what you want, this isn’t consent.
Exactly right. Pachauri is a manipulator. I’ve met exactly this sort – they just don’t stop and it’s always the other person’s “fault”. That he’s further lying about it and claiming to have been hacked points to him knowing his actions are wrong. If he actually thought he loved the woman, a normal response would be, “But I love her,” not “It wasn’t me! I was hacked!”
It will be interesting to see whether he is dumb enough to repeat thus BS under oath. He could find himself up for perjury as well.
“As God is my witness, I did not send any emails to that woman. ”
He has shown he has no morals, is willing to abuse his position of power, lies instead of admitting error. [allegedly]
He has been head of IPCC for 12y.
***
But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt.
No connection ! This is not a climate story. He was surely an honest broker, quick to admit errors in IPCC reports and not at all inclined to abuse the power and influence of that position.
All those piling on here are just bad-mouthed dee-niers, out to kick the poor guy when he’s down: in a spot of trouble because of some scurrilous, disgruntled employee.
Why, they’re no better than the rascals who hacked his email, computer and telephone. Obviously in the pay of Big ( oil / gas / coal / carbon ) , well Big Something.
This really is horrible as well as demonstrating an abandonment of duty. Just look at some of these words!
line 46-47 “…licence / To let me love her with intensity unlimited and totally unchecked”
line 130-131 ” here I am sitting and chairing an IPCC meeting and surreptitiously sending you messages”
line 174 ” I give very little of myself to several others” (in its context this is at very least emotional attention if not more)
line 367-369 ” But is a little show of tenderness so difficult for you? At the end of a long day is it so alien to your nature to sit on the sofa next to me and hold my hand, and possibly even give me a hug?”
line 490-491 ” Some day you will realise what you have lost.”
line 561 “I am very very sorry, and I mean it. I promise you this will never happen again…” (but it did)
line 623-624 “I dreamt last night that I did the preliminaries of making love to you, but woke up at
624 the critical moment”
line 670 ” I will genuinely stop plaguing your exustence [sic]” (but he didn’t)
line 727-728 “And I promise you I will never bother you again” (but he did)
It reminds me of the child sex abuse cases that are coming to light in UK. People who abused their position to exploit children while constantly heaping blame on the victims. That’s what this feels like to me. I hope the truth will come out and appropriate actions taken. I pity this poor victim.
I would worry about the safety of the lady in question even in this country, but in India it would be easier to see her out of the way!!!
I couldn’t leave poor old Rajendra without a little song to cheer him up a bit.

Disgusting man, going by the emails, but is there more to this story?
Have previous allegations been covered-up and victims been ignored and sacrificed to protect green interests and the AGW mantra? Going by this apology from Greenpeace, the answer is yes!
http://www.greenpeace.org/india/Global/india/Greenpeace%20response%20to%20sexual%20harassment%20allegations%20by%20ex-employees.pdf
So the guy left a whole saga of inappropiate electronic mail in the hand of the abusee? Either the guy is nuts, things like this are the norm in India or there’s something dodgy about all this, apart from the obvious of course.
Him leaving is nothing but a boon to the AGW agenda. I fully expect more character assassination against Al Gore in the future as well.
He’d got away with outragious behaviour over climate, why not think he couldn’t do the same over this? After all he’s a much loved green icon with a nobel peace prize. People have gone unpunished for rapes and murder against women in the past, cultural mentalities that lead to that don’t vanish over night. It doesn’t excuse him but he probably thought he was a bit of a catch and he wasn’t doing anything wrong, just forcefully ‘wooing’ her the way women secretly want men to. /sarc.
“So the guy left a whole saga of inappropiate electronic mail in the hand of the abusee? ”
Yes – apparently. Prisons are full of people who left evidence of their crimes, aren’t they?
Sleep – However one would expect higher functioning from the head of a worldwide scientific/propaganda organisation…
TinyCO2 – Oh I completely agree that someone as delusional as the author of the email would not think anything of leaving such evidence, and the situation in India of relevance would make it easier for such a person to carry on in his delusional state. Convenience of it all is distracting though.
I only have a word to describe this: Repulsive. Probably because my english vocabulary is too limited.
Pachauri is a liar and a disgrace to men everywhere. He needs a punch in the nose from the young woman’s Dad. So Ladies, here is how it works. When any man puts his hands upon your person without your consent, grab him with both hands, shift your weight into him as your knee smashes upwards into his groin. Hope that helps. I did need a shower after reading the details.
Getting back to the realms of reality, there’s absolutely nothing funny about sexual harassment for its victims. It’s a deeply distressing experience and should be recognised and condemned for what it is – predatory sexual behaviour which should be prosecuted with the same rigour as any other crime against the person.

Pointman
Like Donna, I find it hard to credit that these are not genuine. They tell a very convincing tale of a woman trying to balance keeping her career, genuine repulsion for the attentions of an ugly old man and even some sympathy for a respected elder. For every sentence in text, you can guarantee that there would be hours of similar unwanted attention.
The techniques used in the emails are similar to those recommended by pick up coaches like Julien Blanc who was recently banned from speaking the UK and sent home early from Australia because they’re unacceptable in a modern society. Those techniques rely on emotional bullying and exertion of power until the victim caves in to the abuser.
Yes, we should try to avoid schadenfreude at the IPCC’s expense, even though they have had several opportunities and recommendations to ditch the guy for legitimate reasons in respect to climate and credibility. However, this kind of abuse should be of concern to everyone, not just sceptics. In this case the bullying was sexual but bullying is bullying. Too often we see the consensus side use their position of power to silence the other side.
Around the World, a series of high profile people (ok men) have fallen from their lofty perches because their underlying behaviour was horrifying. Investigation reveals that those around them knew that those men were behaving badly, even if they didn’t realise the full magnitude. They could have been stopped far sooner if those people had not turned a blind eye because they felt the men involved were too important to good causes to be subject to normal rules of behaviour. The Catholic Church, charities, the BBC and even the IMF have harboured monsters because of a ‘greater’ good, and those abusers have only been stopped once the public found out and kicked up a fuss.
It may not be science to highlight bad behaviour but it is important that we don’t ignore it because of some higher moral imperative and that includes sticking to science instead of what some feel is gossip.
Gorp, Schwarzenaggle, now Packy. all victims of global warming. caught with their pants down trying to cool their junk.
One word for that:
Creep
“…I have too many flaws in my thinking and I have a distorted personality.”
Give that man a Nobel Prize !
Flashback:
Well, it worked So Well for Haig and Nixon, of course they would say that… [/sarc]
What’s that smell? Sniff… Smells like… desperation… and corruption. Sigh! Another day, another *gate.
Could the alleged perv behavior be as a result of climate change ? Isn’t everything else?
How did this guy last this long ? Someone has pictures on someone and I doubt it will be under wraps for long .
Ah Ha.. The IPCC and the EPA have nothing better to do than be involved in some HOT action.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-03-03/untouchables-government-employee-cant-be-fired-despite-watching-6-hours-porn-day-wor
Do you seriously believe that he is the only one like it. It is endemic as an attitude in that field. They were careless enough to let a backup file with personal as well as climate data get into the public domain but by accusing the recipients of hacking intimidated them into not keeping it.
Perhaps it’s simply a cultural norm in India? The BBC website has a horrific story about the Delhi rapes:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31698154
Selected quotes: “When being raped, she shouldn’t fight back”, “She was beggar girl. Her life was of no value”, “In our culture, there is no place for a woman”, “If my daughter or sister engaged in pre-marital activities and disgraced herself… I would put petrol on her and set her alight”.
So perhaps he was just behaving in-character for a normal Indian man? I don’t want to believe it, but…
Mud sticks. Didn’t he write a dreadful smutty novel. As far as the Indian ideas on female morality that is not general, The caste system is still working, the educated classes do arrange marriages sometimes. Anyway, so he was hacked, they have to prove it. And we all know how easy that is.
