Fireworks like you've never seen them before: a drones-eye view

I was so entertained by this, I thought it would be worth sharing for WUWT readers. Imagine flying a drone with an HD camera through a fireworks display. Guaranteed to leave a smile on your face for the sheer novelty of the viewpoint, watching the near misses, and even a couple of hits…

Videographer Jos Stiglingh flies a DJI Phantom 2 drone with a GoPro Hero 3 Silver through the heart of a fireworks show. Highly recommended that you switch to full screen mode and set the video playback for HD.

Steve Jones (re: 8:40AM today). One might equally say:
“Anyone who listens to the William Tell Overture and {does not admit to} think{ing} of The Lone Ranger is {a snob}.”

And on a sweeter, though sadder, note…
Dear Ursa Felidae,
I am sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. In the days to come, whenever your heart overflows in tears, may all the love and good memories wrap themselves around your heart and comfort you. And on those days when the tears themselves are the healing ointment, perhaps listening to this will help them flow more freely:
“Melodramma” — sung by Andrea Bocelli

Take care.
Your Ally for Truth,
Janice
P.S. This IS on topic! The day our loved ones pass over to joy everlasting is the happiest day of their lives — FIREWORKS are in order! — yet, we, standing on the ground in the dark, weep.

why are remote controlled aircraft now called ‘drones?’
Drone sounds more ominous than RC plane.
[Often RC helicopter today. .mod]

Great!
Had to turn off the sound, though. The singing was awful, as most singing is.

“Because of its gangbangers, the US has a higher than average murder rate for a developed country, although even some European countries’ intentional homicide rates are higher. ”
The US is just more honest in that particular statistic it seems to me.
Germany for instance only reports 1st degree murder in their official very low homicide rate (0.7/100k/year); excludes all lesser forms of homicide (of which there are two); and everything involving foreigners (the excuse being, that those cases distort the statistic). In my estimation our real homicide rate is about on par with the US. (about 4.4 per 100k/yr)

Thank you, Anthony! I spent this July 4th in the hospital with my wife, who had to have emergency gall bladder surgery, so this makes up for the missed fireworks & then some!! Best Wishes & Happy Independence Day, Charles the DrPH.

I listened twice. The fireworks were beautiful, but to hear a real singer projecting through the mask instead of what passes for singing most of the time–ah, that was a treat!

Fireworks shows will never be the same again. That view changes everything.
And in the daytime, 88s don’t look pretty; just smoke and scrap metal.
And for Steve Jones, it was not I who permanently linked the William Tell overture to the Lone Ranger.
If you really want a case of murdering a music gem, for a silly movie.
2001 destroyed any possible future enjoyment of Richard Strauss’s ” Also Sprach Zarathustra.”
Didn’t do much for that other Strauss’s Blue Danube Waltz either.

The city in the background and camera movement are essential elements to the visual impact.
