It’s the same old tired stuff, Koch, anti-science, big fundraisers while claiming skeptics are well funded, etc., but at least there’s a new humorous label from Gore.
=========================
Former Vice President Al Gore made an appearance at a Democratic fundraising dinner Wednesday night at the home of Tom Steyer and referred to the California billionaire as:
“Mr. Tipping Point” in the fight against climate change, according to a source who attended.
Gore “discussed the need to not just win — but to win quickly enough to make a difference,” according to the source.
The roughly 70 guests who attended the two-hour dinner at Steyer’s abode in San Francisco’s Sea Cliff neighborhood ate grass-fed beef from Steyer’s ranch, as well as salmon, while a large California flag hung on the wall. The event raised $400,000 for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Majority Leader Harry Reid, one of six Senate Democrats to attend, “focused on the importance of creating an offset” to billionaire fossil-fuel backers Charles and David Koch, the source said.
Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) “focused on how exposed the Republicans are for adopting and promoting a basic anti-science position,” the source said.

but Presidio Heights might be more accurate.
—————————————————————-
That location is called Presidio Terrace. It is the only gated community in SF. The main Jewish synagogue in the city is right outside at the corner.
I used to live outside the western Presidio gates on 25th Ave off of Lake St in the late 50s till early 60s, in a beautiful 3 story home where Teddy Roosevelt used to stay when he came to the city.

Mainly, I meant it as pointing out a fact, like Kerry’s scientific facts. It’s just simple reality that the global warming political movement (which is all of it) could have been snuffed out in it’s entirety in that room. Never to bother anyone again. The thing is that shaky.
It could have been a bad salmon mouse, like from the python movie.
“Democratic fundraising dinner”
Again, i’m reaching that point where my blood is turning black. I cannot stand that corporate word ‘democracy”; because I know most people associate that word with freedom- its not freedom.
The dinner party was pretty much intended for those internal to a foreign corporate body known as a democracy.
Imagine this for a second:
Hey, are you Tom Seyer the owner of this ranch? Why yes I am. Well, under the guise of climate change, we’re going to take the right of use to your land. Why? well, you use too much water, have cut down way to many trees and we found a threatened species of bird on you property. You can’t use my land grabber tactics against me…….i’m friends with Al Gore.
Yeah, the day.
Democracy
“tyranny of the majority”.
Its where 51% rule over the 49% the minority have no say.
keep voting everyone and you’ll keep hearing about more parties like this one.

Weaseling. It was accurately describedas an ugly fantasy. Best to keep that kind of thing inside your head, since it tends to show your immaturity.

It is an undignified comment for these pages.
papiertigre;

>>>>>>>>>>>>
Really? Was James Hanson their? Phil Jones? Keith Briffa? Kevin Trenberth? The political leadership of a couple of hundred countries? The entire membership of Greenpeace and WWF? All the employees of the UN IPCC, NASA GISS, Hadley CRU, the MET Office, the WMO, journalists from hundreds of media outlets… they were all there just waiting to be “snuffed” all at the same time?
Not only are your comments sick, twisted, and disgusting, but you demonstrate that your reasoning skills are so weak that there is not point trying to explain to you why.
someone snip this guy or buy him a plane ticket to Syria to he can experience first hand what society turns into when a whole bunch of people decide that they are so morally superior that they can “snuff” out those with whom they disagree.
Here’s the list of political donors – Koch Industries is #59 on the list.:

Of course those higher up on the list never contributed to “climate change” promoters, lol.
@papiertigre
I laughed
I don’t understand why Al Gore called Tom Steyer “Mr. Tipping Point.” Is it because Steyer’s carbon footprint is big enough to tip us over the edge on its own?
If Lake Michigan were to rise 3 metres it would once again empty through the channel on the south end of the city into the Mississippi River. The channel is a canal at the moment. Were this to occur almost none of Chicago would be under water. Post-glacial rebound of the region may still tilt the Lake up at the north end causing the old course to be taken with no average rise at all. Previously the North exit was blocked by ice. Oh what a glorious climate we had in those days!
‘The refusal to accept global warming is driven by corporate interests ‘
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/feb/20/climate-change-deniers-markets-fix
oh so all we need to do is dismantle the capitalist system live in mud huts in an eco utopia and the climate will never change again and all the climate change ‘mass murder’ will stop? Seems like a plan.
there is no co2 deathstar that is going to kill us all. There are eco utopians who want to ‘break the system’ thro taxation and live in an anarchist utopia where people have names like ‘pine tree’ and ‘big owl’
if climate change is caused by the capitalist system then they will be embarrassed by “A California hedge fund investor has pledged $100 million in contributions to pro-environmentalist congressional campaigns, bolstering the battle against climate change.”
http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/02/20/us-usa-campaign-climatechange-idUKBREA1J1IZ20140220
in the interests of climate change they should refuse the money?
Let’s see. Tom Steyer was the principle financer of No on California Prop 23. He contributed millions of dollars. You know how the rest of us, we can contribute $2600 max to a political campaign. Apparently that rule doesn’t apply to Steyer.
This dude bought so many elections that it prompted Kim Alexander, president of the California Voter Foundation, to say: “We’ve seen companies giving that much, and unions and PACs that have a lot at stake giving $10, $20 million in an election, but you didn’t see that so much for individual donors.”
Proposition 23 was the modest urging for the government to abide by the terms of it’s own global warming law, AB32, that during periods of exceptional financial hardship the global warming law’s implementation be posponed (Yep. They actually wrote that into AB32, an admission by the authors that AB32 will cost the state business in the best of times – proving the lie “investing in green energy will create jobs” , “we can’t afford to let the Chinese beat us to the ‘clean energy'” and so forth.
The Cali democrats knew that line of campaign rhetoric was a pack of lies before Mr. Steyer bought the posters and ad spots. And yeah that was him. Mr Tipping Point.
Steyer also contributed millions to defeat Ken Cuccinelli, in the Virginia Governors race.
Ken lost by what? A couple hundred votes? How you feel about that Virginia, that a rich New Yorker transplant in California can buy your election? Does it feel good?
According to the Wiki, it was reported in January 2013 that Steyer might be named as a replacement for Energy Secretary Steven Chu. What an investor in politicians knows about energy, I have no idea, but I do know Steyer is one of Obama’s bestest money bagmen.
SO if he wants to be Energy Secretary of the United States, he will be, nitpicks like professional competence be damned!
Or he might replace Diane Feinstein in 2018. Maybe both. Why not?
If he does either I’ll have the smug satisfaction of him doing to you good folk out in fly over country directly, what he has been doing to the good people of California through the backdoor for years.
Algorian Logic
A reasoning technique that entails reaching a supposition about a subject in which one has no expertise and subsequently creating factoids to support the supposition without using critical thinking skills or research to discern the obvious implausibility of the factoids or the conclusion.
Right… more “anti-science GOP” spewings from the AGW cargo cultists, with their Head Shaman, “Interior of the Earth is Extremely Hot, Several Million Degrees”, in the room.
imho, I have a concept for controlling donations.
Only eligible voters can vote and/or donate money.
If you can’t vote for it you don’t get to have a say, plain and simple.
If Bill Gates wants to give Hillary Clinton $1M for president and/or a candidate for mayor for his town $2B for his election he can but, not one dime from Microsoft nor one dime to Nancy Pelosi for congress or Rick Scott for Governor.
No donations from corporations and NGOs, period and no donors or illegals from outside the US, the voter’s respective state or voting district.
No tax deductions for donating.

You must be unfamiliar with the Republican party and their uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. See Election 2012 for details.
This is not exactly news, but you can see the party leadership together in the madness and not just the usual puppet President crowing the line for them. Some day we will rise above the election as personality runway project and debate style and get to the real issues of party planks behind the curtain, including the planks aimed at your heads and basic science process.
He actually said Jakarta. I guess it was mis-reported.
Here’s a funny cartoon of Gore in a straitjacket:
http://quadrant.org.au/opinion/zegs-take/2013/10/burning-mad/
Exploiters are in a hurry to do ‘something’ so they can claim credit for the change, much like they used the Montreal Protocol to exploit reduction of the southern ozone hole, even though it wasn’t directly related (it was likely caused by warmer temperatures in the Antarctic in 2002), and the hole continues but the headlines ignore that little detail. They are masters of illusion.
Quote: “Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) “focused on how exposed the Republicans are for adopting and promoting a basic anti-science position,” the source said.”
I wonder how long it took these two to get there from the northeast while riding their minimal-carbon-release horse and buggies….wait…
“Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) “focused on how exposed the Republicans are for adopting and promoting a basic anti-science position,” the source said.”
So laughable, the democrats / leftists are all strong believers in science … until they see study after study showing leftist economics doesn’t work [not to mention reality slapping them hard across the face]. Or, studies showing the relationship between gun ownership and reduced crime. That kind of science escapes the “science-based” hacks [as does any other that doesn’t fit their agenda].
Wow looking at the list of “notables” who attended the fund raising event I was very happy that I was not on the invite list. I must admit that the likes of Reid, Gore, Feinstein, would have probably made me sick and I would have upchucked the expensive meal. I only hope that I could have made it to the balcony on time before it all came up.
