Jim Hoggan’s flagship propaganda outlet, releaser of the Gleick stolen files, Desmogblog.com – is D.O.A.
…or maybe they just gave up, according to Alexa, they had their last measurable traffic blip almost 6 months ago (lower number is better):
The Pakistani’s like them though:

When a domain expires, the DNS entry is changed to the registrar’s parking HTML server. My guess is that your DNS server hasn’t heard the news yet.
It still redirects for me:
$ host desmogblog.com
desmogblog.com has address 199.59.166.108
I for one will be sad to see them go.
They gave me so much entertainment.
Mind you, in these Politically Correct days, I guess it is bad form to derive one’s
enjoyment laughing at lunatics.
Oh man! Where can I go now for a list of people not biased to alarm?
Dead for me in the UK.
Still waiting for someone to turn the “denial” rhetoric on its head and ask some prominent warmist whether they deny the results of Watts et al 2012, and if so, why? Do you deny that Gore lied about xxx (pick one) ? Or that Gore has made millions pushing …
Continue with a long string of such leading questions

If one’s computer infrequently caches DNS entries instead of asking the DNS system it is possible that the lookup your system does uses your cached entry which still points the server with the site on it.
You can even make an entry on your system that persists forever.
And these people claim to be so smart. NOT!
GoDaddy now gives two WHOIS results. DeSmogBlog was at namecheap.com, expired Sept 21. But now it’s registered at enom.com, record updated on Sept 22, new expiration Sept 21, 2013, a year away.
Is “enom” some sort of name holding company, the name will stay “parked” on their lot until the name is reclaimed or sold off? Or is “enom” the commercial/professional side, “namecheap” is the “discount” side?
It looks like DeSmogblog.com is up and running now. I’ve never been there before, but it seems to be fully functional.
I ran the Alexa comparison of WUWT and Desmogblog a couple of days ago. I was going to make a note of it in tips and notes. I decided not to because I didn’t want then to get a single extra hit. OH WELL!!! There is nothing happening over there at DeSmogBlog… don’t waste your time. They are having money issues clearly.
On the topic of things disappearing, let us all congratulate the Arctic Ice on its continued existence (per sidebar countdown). More panic next summer, no doubt, if the warmists haven’t all exploded with rage by then.
All I get on http://www.desmogblog.com

I think you are on to something. It is too much to hope that the Frankenstein monster is kaput.
We know that there is coordination behind the scenes and I see this as “restructuring” only.

“it seems to be fully functional.”
Well, that’s new!!! 8^D
Not working for me in the people’s Republic of caledoni via the.com. The IP works, unfortunately.
JoNova’s down. “This account has been suspended” 16:45 UK time, Saturday.
Swings and roundabouts.
Do not worry: Hoggan and his teamsters are probably preparing “Nobel Prize winner” Andrew Weaver’s run for the BC Green party…
It looks like they can save $11 a year at the new registrar. Perhaps the $11 is critical in their finances.
Interesting. Previously there were just 2 nameservers listed, same for namecheap and enom:
dns101.registrar-servers.com
dns102.registrar-servers.com
Now there are five:
dns1.name-services.com
…
dns5.name-services.com
Before I couldn’t pull up the site at all, “taking too long to respond”.
Now I get a blank page, unless I turn off AdBlock then I get the search terms list.
The site is parked, running through googlesyndication.com and “demdex.net” to try to dig up some search ad revenue.
(Heh, punch in demdex.net and you get sent to http://www.adobe.com/products/audiencemanager.html)
If the site ain’t dead yet, it’s sure doing a good imitation.
I get an apparently blank page as well (i’m not about to turn off adblocking). However when i view source, I see a whole bunch of javascript and some interesting meta tags:
name=”keywords” content=”cash advance debt consolidation insurance desmogblog.com”
name=”description” content=”Find Cash Advance, Debt Consolidation and more at Desmogblog.com. Get the best of Insurance or Free Credit Report, browse our section on Cell Phones or learn about Life Insurance. Desmogblog.com is the site for Cash Advance.”
Later same day in UK – Now dead for me. What will I do? 🙂
Chris Mooney has been absent from DeSmogBlog for about a month. I would guess that he is their top traffic and comment generator.
Oh not to worry. They just need to give the ol’ turbine blades a spin to get them up and running again. Or maybe dust off the solar panels. Maybe they forgot to feed the squirrel that runs the little generator? Alternative energy, which I assume ALL AGW blogs and websites depend on, has to be nurtured and cared for ya know.
