You all certainly look to be living it up on those ‘big oil’ sponsored salaries of yours. La dee dah!

I may or may not be the only one in the group who has actually worked for an oil company. For a couple of years I was the Chief Financial Officer for the largest fuel importing and distribution company in the Solomon Islands.
“Biggest in the Solomon Islands” loosely translates as “smallest in the world”. We used to joke about how we certainly weren’t “Big Oil”, and that we weren’t really big enough to call ourselves “Small Oil”. Finally, someone came up with the right term.

My thanks to all the great folks making WUWT work, despite the lack of Big Oil money.

A great team needing a break (except for the mods) 🙁
Make sure you kept the receipt before Warmists allege “Deniers being fed by oil funds” 😉 Not that I’d give a dam.

A group of hardier individuals would be difficult to envisage. You put the A-Team in the shade. I trust the meal was suitably resplendent.

Where are your light sabres guys? You are the last hope for freedom in the Galaxy against the Evil Empire and it’s Imperial Team Stormtroopers.
Beware the bounty hunter Boba Gleick leaking the restaurant tab to DeGalacticSmogBlog. 🙂

Funny thing is, probably because I grew up in an age here in New Zealand before television, that I enjoy the little game of imagining a name to a voice, in this case electronic. Like others here I somehow imagined Leif as a young thirty something hotshot solar physcist but wasn’t surprised to see ‘global warming’ framing his smile.

I learned back in the early days of the ARPAnet that I was no good at matching Email (we had just invented it), to faces. My second ever business trip was to Cambridge, MA for a meeting about FTP (people had implemented the “new” FTP that is essentially what’s in use still). I was nearly terrified about meeting my colleague from Harvard. Fortunately I hadn’t heard his family had links to the Boston Brahmins and his grandfather was a major contributor to the Boston Aquarium.
However, a geek is a geek the world over, even if he has access to club in Harvard Square.
As for Leif, you must’ve missed the discussions here between Leif and me about the glory days when computers had lights and personalities.

As always, my best regards to the whole team, I’ve learned a lot from visiting this site over the past number of years (even tho sometimes I don’t show it) It’s been fun probing the minds of an invaluable team with an enormous combined wealth of knowledge, backgrounds and experience.
P.S. The comments here from readers are awesome too, I’ve noticed from following other sites that skeptical commentators appear to be more clued in-to and have a better grasp of the science, physics and engineering than the somewhat clueless CAGW crowd.

Now that’s what I would call the perfect guest list for dinner. Anthony, for giggles you should have invited William M Connelley. Ha, imagine the chaos and confusion that would have ensued as he edited the menu/price list to his liking.

It’s Santa Leif!

Dr. Svalgaard looks much as I imagined, but Willis Eschenbach looks nothing like I would have imagined as the author of such firebrand tomes. There doesn’t appear to any flames coming from his eyes at all.
My heartfelt thanks to you all.
