UPDATE: All of the Gore-a-thon posts and cartoons are now available in the Climate Fail Files page here
If you noticed a change in the header, this is why.
Our rebuttal of Al Gore’s 24 hours of Climate Reality aka the Gore-a-thon is On-The-Air. Josh is leading the charge chortles. We’ll have a new Josh cartoon, along with commentary, graphs and links every hour starting at 5PM PST to match the starting time of the CRP. They appear below this post.
You can watch the live video presentation here, I urge everyone to do so (because after hour 4 it is starting to look like a massive dud, Al needs the help) and to make notes about it during the appropriate hour. Alternate video link here at Ustream.
Here’s the trailer advertising it:
If you run a blog, we hope you’ll participate and use the content. If you don’t have a blog, get one for free here and join in the fun using the free content we’ll provide.
All good clean fun of course. While we have some great ideas for the program, WUWT readers often come up with some great ones too. Luboš Motl has some fun ideas already.
Ideas and discussion welcome below.
UPDATE: The Climate Reality project has released two videos hyping the event. It appears they’ll be smearing some of what is in the videos.
Of course, they are asking for money, a minimum of $10 after viewing them. They write with the mass email:
While some folks have told us these aren’t exactly family fare, we think they make a point that’s long overdue. And you can help make sure that everyone who you think can handle them, sees them.
We are planning an online ad buy — but we need your help to reach as many people as possible. Will you donate $10 to get this message out?
http://forms.climaterealityproject.org/ad-donate
Your donation will help us spread the Climate Reality message in a unique and effective way. Tell the world: The climate crisis is not a debate. It’s reality. And the time to take action is not the future — it’s right now. The fat lady has sung.
Watch the videos and make a donation today. Anything you give makes a difference:

The time to act is now. The denial has hit the fan.

WUWT readers may recall that Mr Bogusky is the “interviewer” for Al Gore’s recent racist slur against climate skeptics.
Looks like “someone” is just starting to figure out that some scientists “torture data” and even “make it up”. This is going to make my head explode like when I heard of how many times people tried to turn Bernie Madoff into the SEC and were ignored.

Theo Goodwin: “If I had known what was coming, I would have fought in the smoking wars on the side that opposed smoking bans.”
The denormalization/stigmatization of smoking/smokers and indoor AND outdoor smoking bans were planned in the mid-1970s by a small clique operating under the auspices of the World Health Organization (Godber/WHO Blueprint). This clique was circulating the concocted idea of secondhand smoke “danger” years before the first study on secondhand smoke.

Antismoking is not new. It has a long, sordid history, where much of it pre-dates even the pretense of a scientific basis or the concocted idea of secondhand smoke “danger”.
There were concurrent anti-tobacco and anti-alcohol “crusades” in early-1900s USA. These crusades led to a temporary ban on the sale of tobacco in some states and smoking restrictions in most states, and eventually Prohibition immediately following WWI.
http://www.americanheritage.com/articles/magazine/ah/1981/2/1981_2_94_print.shtml
The current antismoking crusade is in the eugenics, social-engineering tradition. It has all been political activism. The activists have been allowed to get away with exaggerations (inflammatory propaganda) galore. They have promoted themselves as the “good guys” battling the “evil” tobacco empire. All questioning of activists has been typically dismissed as the “evil” work of the tobacco empire: The activists have [fraudulently] promoted themselves as “truth-speakers” and all disagreeing with them as liars. And societies around the world have lapped this trash up. There is now a lucrative, self-serving anti-tobacco industry that did not exist 30 years ago, and most countries are signed-up to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control where particular ban requirements must be met.
The goal of tobacco control has always been to influence (manipulate) law-makers into enacting smoking/smoker bans. Given the “success”, albeit fraudulent, of the tobacco control template, there are now others queuing to use the “template for success”, e.g., alcohol, climate control.
http://piee.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/docs/behavior/becc/2008/presentations/17-2C-02-Lessons_from_the_Tobacco_Control_Movement.pdf
The concocted idea of secondhand smoke (SHS) “danger” has been a means to an end. The goal has always been to exterminate tobacco use. There are now bans being enacted that have nothing to do with SHS. For example, those who smoke are being denied employment, medical treatment, and housing. There are now attempts to ban smoking outdoors where there is no SHS “danger”.
Here’s an excerpt from an antismoking “advocacy toolkit” (from a Canadian toolkit, but will be very similar around the world) for outdoor smoking bans. It highlights the tricks/tactics used to contrive appearances – from flooding comments boards with inflammatory rhetoric, to conducting their own “polls”, to giving the appearance of wholesale public support for smoking bans – to manipulate the public and politicians/law-makers:
“For the next few months, strive to ensure there are positive media stories, letters to the editor, etc., that tout how well the bylaw changes are working. There will no doubt be a backlash from smokers in the beginning until they get used to the changes.
In the meantime, you have to counter their negative comments in the media, in comment sections of online news pieces and blogs, on radio call-in shows, etc. Your job is to make politicians continue to believe that they did the right thing.”
It is not unheard of for councillors to backtrack on their decision and water down legislation.” (p. 48)

[REPLY: I’m allowing this comment because it speaks to the efforts of special interest groups to attempt to control discourse. Anthony has made his position on smoking and cancer clear. Do NOT comment on the pros and cons of second hand smoke or smoking and cancer linkages. -REP, mod]
