People send me things. The story a couple of days ago about Union of Concerned Scientists (Be a concerned scientist – valid credit card required) has prompted some interest in their cartoon contest.

I love that UCS, in URL and section notation, has designated this contest “Science Idol.” Magnificently evokes the warnings about “false gods” and “graven images.”

I must say I liked their cartoon No.1. It isn’t often that you see a crocodile living in a jungle, nor a rhinoceros and a bird of paradise (let alone monkeys and elephants) living in the same jungle as a lemur. Obviously their geography (among other things) is a little confused.
Yep I liked #1 also for those reasons and the fact the animals are cooperating. Also Marc Hendrickx’ entry.
For anyone with children/grandchildren…….the penguins are very very funny…..
MIT/Dreamworks hit the nail on the head a while ago….. after Feynman, CIT had explained the importance of scientific integrity years before.

I think it would be more appropriate if it were schoolkids as they are leaving school after one of Gores Movies!
My favorite was the 10th cartoon (http://www.ucsusa.org/assets/images/si/science-idol-2011/web-UCScalendar-2012-ScientificTruthPauls2011.jpg) in which Scientific Truth is the evidence against AGW.
Here’s my take on UCS. They started out as an outfit dedicated to unilateral disarmament. Naive fools infiltrated enemy agents of influence. Any questions?
