UPDATE: 6/5/10
All of the tech issues from yesterday have been resolved. WUWT is now listed as the Top blog in the Sciences category by Wikio. My thanks to everyone who helps make WUWT a success.
=======================================================
From Greg Laden’s Science Blog, a preview of the upcoming science blog rankings. Apparently, WUWT is going to be number one. Oddly though, the Wikio Widget at the right sidebar which has said #2 for months, has suddenly stopped showing my ranking. When you click through it you find the number two science blog spot is now occupied by some shoes, cats, and shopping blog:

And WUWT is nowhere to be found now. Maybe it’s just a glitch. Maybe Greg’s just having some fun with me as his top post is cat related. Heh. No worries, I’m sure it will all get sorted out.

Here is a sneak preview of what the June Wikio rankings for Science Blogs is going to look like:

I attempted to go to the link you posted when you said:
WUWT is still #2 on the wikio blog, but their site appears to have been hacked. All of the “Top posts” in the #2 spot are WUWT links.

My guess would definately be a hack or some other type of attack since my anti-virus program blocked the page as having an active threat.
Congratulations! I try to hit your site every day!
WUWT is now #1! Officially.
Congratulations, Anthony. Well deserved.

Anthony – When I clicked the new red #1 link at the top right I got attacked just now:
HTTP Fake Scan Webpage 5
Severity High
Looks like the website has been hacked and highjacked.
REPLY: Some paranoiaware is just a little too…paranoid. I have a link scanner and it says the page is OK. – Anthony
Something is fishy. WUWT is clearly and deservedly the king, but Icecap counter shows we get 140,000 hits a week. We should be up there somewhere.
Icecap needs a site look refreshment as some on WUWT have suggested but don’t want to lose the 4146 stories posted. Don’t know how Anthony manages comments. Maybe he has a moderator to help. I am a one man band and can’t do it.
REPLY: Joe the reason Icecap is not on the radar is twofold
1- Format issues (you have no RSS feed)
2- Inability to link directly to stories (the major reason)
The Wikio formula is shown here: http://www.wikio.com/blogs/top/Sciences#
The way ICECAP is setup makes it impossible for anyone reading the story to link to that story specifically. The lack of an RSS feed makes it impossible for other systems to scan content. So, you disappear from aggregators and other indexing systems that provide linkbacks.
If this isn’t a wakeup call for you to overhaul ICECAP, I don’t know what would be. What sort of blogging system does it use now? There may be an import option for it. WordPress has many. – Anthony
Tried it twice more – both times OK now. Must be a corrupt packet setting it off or something.
So essentially when I finally post this comment I do it on the numero uno bloggo?
But I did that the first time I commented on this here blog …oh, hahaha, see what I did there? :p
I just got back from China where I’ve missed WUWT. Your website is blocked there by the Chinese government (who did you make mad?) so you are missing out on a possible billion people to click your website. With all that your’re still number one!
I guess I came in after the problems were fixed. Congratulations Anthony–you are definitely my #1 science blog!
Well Anthony, the way you keep on digging up little snippets that we are not supposed to see; that the MSM try to hide from us; and with the excellent cadre of Guest Authors; Like Leif, Steve Goddard, Willis Eschenbach, Roy Spencer; and some others I embarrasingly admit don’t come to mind; is it Bill Illis; we have plenty of inputs to whet out appetites. Well of course Lord Monckton, occasionally drops in; and then Dr Meier gives us a look from the other side of the fence (bravely) and we appreciate that.
But it takes your hard work to make it go Anthony; so congrats on a well deserved recognition.
George
Congratulations Anthony, and to all the contributers, from both sides of the divide who continually challenge, inform, and intelligently discuss the present state of play with the whole weather/climate conumdrum.
WUWT may be one of the few blogs involved with the issue that does not degenerate into a name calling, insult generating, troll infested science based blog.
Thanks to everyone concerned I have learnt more in the past 3 years than would have been possible from studying the accepted dogma and political announcements.
