UPDATE: Some commenters seem to think Al is being treated unfairly. Gore press policy might be the reason we see this sort of thing happening. See the update below the “read more” line.
Seems that former Vice President Al Gore doesn’t like the cameras when people ask tough questions about the Arctic Sea ice, or Climategate, or er, anything. Lunch is more important than telling those pesky Fox News viewers how wrong they are.
Ambush journalism? Seemed good enough for CBS 60 minutes back when they were a real news program. Watch the video.

Here’s Al on the “ambush journalism” 60 Minutes show when the conditions are favorable to him:
No, Al would never associate himself with an outfit that does “ambush journalism“.

UPDATE: Some WUWT readers may remember this post I did back in 2008:
Gore to press: Stay Out!
Credit: Robert Vamosi / CNET Networks
One blogger, Tim Wilson, with press credentials writes:
Gore, who reportedly receives $100,000 for personal appearances, apparently has a standard contract that bans the fourth estate from all of his speeches. No one seems to know why, and we can’t ask — on account of we’re out here, and he’s in there.
So with such a policy and contract language, is it any surprise that Gore would not talk to a Fox News reporter and the only opportunity the reporter had would be in a hallway?
Gore’s Contract:

Love it, that’s good, esp. that first video.
“Though I don’t agree with Gore, I feel bad for him. I, for one, don’t like ambush journalism, no matter who it’s practiced on.”
And I, for one, don’t like ambush pseudo-science (“the debate is over”), especially when it’s practiced on me. Al Gore’s been allowed to skulk about behind closed doors for far too long. If we have to drag him out into the light, then so be it. He needs to defend his position in an open forum, to answer real questions posed by real interviewers, to account for himself and not creep about in the dark working feverishly to destroy my freedom and my independence and my prosperity. It’s like taxation without representation, and it rankles just as much. The debate is over? Yeah, right. It hasn’t even started where Mr. Gore is concerned.
Oh, my gosh! At least sucker him in with a few softball questions! Come on guys. Be a little smarter with the interview tactics.

Some places are already being effected by rising sea levels causing more erosion.

Hilarious! North Carolina increase is reported to be around 0.1 inches per year. If the house shown was built 20 years ago, and now is just at sea level, it would have stood about 2 inches above sea level when built. There are high surfs, hurricanes there, and beaches and sand bars erode and rebuild. It’s obvious what happened in the pictures.
“Currently, MSL is rising at a rate of approximately 2mm per year (0.08 inches/yr) if averaged over the last hundred years, and around 3mm per year (0.12 inches/yr) over the last fifteen years.”

@Glenn Skankey (15:31:29): “Do you seriously think he [Gore] should have taken time out to sit down with that reporter who was chasing him around and do an interview on the spot?”
“Why not? Monckton showed us how it’s done. See the video Amino Acids posted at 16:24:01. Alternatively, he could accept the invitation to appear on O’Reilly’s show (and don’t tell me you consider Gore’s “I’ll consider it” sincere).”
Gore isn’t Monckton, and not the same event. Was Gore just looking to grab a burger at the drive through, or did he have an appointment with someone? This is crappy journalism, I’d call paparazzi journalism, which is not journalism, but sensationalism for profit. And I seriously doubt that had Gore stopped in his tracks, immediately went and sat down at a table and invited the reporter to a question and answer session (both ways), the reporter would have participated on camera and posted it. Maybe after some editing, though.
No, I doubt Gore will consider going on Oreilly’s talk show. I wouldn’t either, with a person that stoops to that level. That video like this is publicized is dirty tactics and disgusting to me. Just my opinion.
“No, I doubt Gore will consider going on Oreilly’s talk show.”
So answer this: Whose show will he go on?
And I mean a show where they’ll ask him real questions and he doesn’t get to insist on five pages of pre-conditions and evasions as the basis for his appearance.
Lotta people just want to eat their waffle.

He isn’t required to go on any show. His beliefs and statements are well known. You and some others seem to want to *make* news, but that isn’t journalism.
Anyone that pays Algore $100,000 to talk about anything needs their head examined
