Congressional Tipping Point: Not an April Fools Joke

From the “you just can’t make this stuff up department“, something so outrageously stupid, you wonder how the Navy Admiral being interviewed by congressman Hank Johnson (D) GA kept himself from busting out laughing.

It should be an April fools joke, but isn’t. Watch the video below.

Looks like he is an automatic pelosi vote. Yes he is sick, very sick. But on the bright side, didn’t he replace a huge embarrassment Democrat? It’s proves what it takes to be a Congressmen.
I would love to hear his arguments on global warming. Is this a new way of sinking land? Any peer reviewed studies about this?

Isn’t this the guy that replaced Cynthia McKinney? I don’t think she was ever THIS nuts.

April Fools right?
I’m Canadian, and there’s no way I can believe that this guy is a congressman, unless of course that is the Somalia Congress in the video.

Johnson admits illness, vows to fight on
Congressman Hank Johnson’s dramatic weight loss this year is due to experimental treatment he is taking for hepatitis C.
Johnson said Monday that he was diagnosed with the blood-borne liver disease in 1998 and began an experimental regimen of daily doses of the drug interferon in September 2008 designed to rid his body of the virus.
But the treatment’s side effects – weigh loss, thinning hair, irritability and depression – dramatically altered his appearance. His loss of 30 pounds in the last year and thinning white hair prompted questions from constituents over the summer when a noticeably gaunt Johnson hosted a health care reform forum in the district.
Johnson, who is on his third round of treatment with interferon, said the disease ravaged his liver and the treatment made his thyroid overactive, leading to his weight loss.

This is not about AGW, it is about medication affecting the mind. If you are religious, pray for him – he asked for it.

Color me astounded as well.
Of course, a representative democracy does not guarantee that you will get smart people elected.

If the man has hepatic encephalopathy, the video should be pulled, because he will likely die soon without a liver transplant. Metabolites that the liver is no longer processing would be poisoning him. His staff should help him retire more gracefully if this is the case.

That’s the guy that replaced Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney – she of the 9/11 was a put up job by Bush (and other conspiracy theories) so I guess that District has more than it’s share of loonies?
I had a similar experience in the 70’s when I was an Aide de Camp to then one star Marine General P X Kelly (he later became Commandant – 4 Stars – awesome leader) who was testifying in front of a similar Congressional Committee about a new weapon system. He was asked by a Congressman (who asked the question as if he were Solomon), “Tell me General, has this weapon system been designed to deal with the unknown threat?”
ummm, well sure. It will handle any unknown threat that we know of…..

Fortunately , this guy does not represent my district . However , he replaced Cynthia McKinney who gained fame for assaulting a Capitol guard after he requested she show him her ID . BTW , McKinney ran for president on the Green ticket in ’08 . It’s amazing to see whom the good people of Georgia will elect to congress , although the folks down in Fla’s 3rd have done just about as well – check out Corrine Brown’s “Gladulate the Gator” speech on Youtube .

Go ahead and laugh but Johnson knows stuff. He’s from Atlanta which everybody knows is where the refugees from Atlantis settled. Nobody thought Atlantis would tip over and sink either but it did and the people of Atlanta, proud descendants of the Atlantisians, will never forget!
It’s true. Google it.

Your response to this proves that you deniers of AGW are just anti-scientific. I saw Dr. Doolittle in a scientific documentary about an island that floated around in the ocean. The debate on this is over; the science is settled: floating islands can capsize. Stop being obstructionists. People’s lives are at stake. Congress needs to do something. At least Hank Johnson was addressing real problems. When the island finally capsizes, you anti-science deniers will finally be tried for your crimes against humanity.

Interesting as I have been working on a paper myself entitled the “Guam List” . I never ever considered Guam completely tipping over!
My theory is that within the next 100 years or so, Guam will begin to list to the left, or possibly to the right, depending on coral degradation. I hoping to receive a grant from the EPA to research “Coral Un-degradation”.
Happy April 1st.

Suffering from Hep C or not, clearly, this man is an idiot. For the people expressing sympathy for the people of GA, don’t, they are the lunatics that put him there subjecting the rest of the country to this idiot. And we wonder why we’re in the mess we are?

Anthony/Charles,
I must demand that you immediately remove this video since it is obvious that Congressman Johnson has accidentally revealed a state secret that is vital to our national security – that Guam is in fact a floating battle island.
Please, for the troops, we can’t let Red China know!

If this man has a serious health issue that impairs his cognitive capablities, why is he still sitting in a lawmaker’s seat?
Sort of makes me wonder whom the joke is really on.

“I heard that this fellow has a severe Hepatitis C condition although
I do not know why a liver condition affects the brain.”
It does. Toxins and such build up from the liver damage.

Beyond amazing. This is a fantastic example of just why our Congress needs a tremendous house cleaning.
Rep. Johnson should be censured by the House.
If the letter after his name was not a (d) this would be national news, with the message point being to get the clown out of office.

Let’s be clear, it is NOT his slurred and slow speech that I am concerned about, it is his lack of comprehension of reality that he would think that a landmass could tip-over and capsize. I mean, that clearly is a [snip] moment right there.

There are many bars in the Palace of Westminster and it is fairly normal for honourable gentlemen and ladies to be post-prandially somewhat squiffy or even fast asleep. Does Congress not have bars? But, to be fair to Hank, he’s not any worse than a lot of the dross we have to put up with in the Mother of Parliaments.
I also agree with Anthony’s reply above – it’s hard to believe that the Johnson in the clip and the Johnson who allegedly wrote that reply are the same people.

I’m sure the IPCC has a job waiting for that guy. Wait, he’d fit in better at Media Matters or maybe a local ACORN outfit.
