From the “you just can’t make this stuff up department“, something so outrageously stupid, you wonder how the Navy Admiral being interviewed by congressman Hank Johnson (D) GA kept himself from busting out laughing.
It should be an April fools joke, but isn’t. Watch the video below.

No joke, Coco. Congress critters have no sense of humor: especially where their own dignity is involved.
Wish the Admiral had told Johnson the plan, that is…to evenly distribute the Marines throughout the island with no more than 40 men/women per square mile at any given time, thereby preventing the tipping or capsizing of the island. Since Johnson believes the island is floating then the Admiral should have eased his fears by pointing out that sea level rise is not an issue with a floating object. For that matter why isn’t the Admiral considering making Guam even more west by having a couple of battleships just drag it? Where’s the Army Corps of Engineers when you need them?
The spin his staff is putting on it is rather humorous. Watch the video, the guy flips his hand over to show the Adm. what he meant by capsizing.
@ur momisugly mod……Why was i snipped? I was simply stating that the guy has been suffering from hepatitis for about ten years and has apparent brain damage….
The really sad thing is the moonbat that he replaced in the last election was almost as bad. You’d think this district could do better….but they keep voting in crazier people.
Ignorance knows no bounds, political, cultural or any other kind of limits.
Stephen Singer (11:34:07) : “…on Rush Limbaugh’s radio program he admonished everyone that Congressman Johnson is suffering from a very serious medical issue which is apparently affecting his cognitive abilities quite a bit.”
I think Rush knows all too well whereof he speaks. Rep. Johnson has been taken suddenly drunk.
I might as well disagreed with this guy too.
According to the news, I’m a racist for disagreeing with another man of color.
Of course that’s a stretch. None of them know the color of my skin.
I heard that this fellow has a severe Hepatitis C condition although
I do not know why a liver condition affects the brain.

The problem with democracy is that the people get the Representatives they deserve.
If he were refering to a rhetorical tipping then he certainly explained himself poorly. I think stupidity and a liquid lunch, plus a desire to sound considered and weighty, led him to such utter dross.
Although his office may be trying to put a nicer spin on his statement, he not only made a hand motion of “tipping” but used the word “capsize.” “Capsize” is what unbalanced floating objects do, not what unstable systems do.
Oh my LORD. I thought he was never going to get to the point, and when he did I began to think he was on Crack! Coouuuuuld Heeeeee Talllllk any Sloooowwwer?
@ur momisugly mod or A Watts: I am not joking about this man having hepatitis C. I am only commenting on this because your site has become my favorite over the last 6 months and I don’t want to see it hurt by something like not knowing the whole story on this politician.
Sincerely, Ian…
In response to the suggestion that he wasn’t suggesting that Guam could actually tip over, I would point out that his hands as he said that moved as if something were tipping over.
All in all, not one of our more articulate or knowledgeable members of Congress.
Good thing I didn’t have a pistol handy. As he continued to struggle to try to describe the length and width for perhaps the third time, and finally, with no clue that the way to estimate the area would be to take the length of 24 and multiply it by a rounded up average width of 10 to get about 240, I would have shot myself. How the Admiral managed I can’t imagine – the patience of Job, I guess.
Should be in the state home for the bewildered.
Oh wait…
He is, he’s a Congressman. 😛

I suggest the congressman write a law that dictates the weight distribution on the island. It makes as much sense as cap-and-trade. Just think what his constituents must be like.
That’s the next US President right there!
He is a complete idiot. He may be a drunken idiot or a stoned idiot, but without a doubt he is an idiot. The good people of Georgia surely have sufficient grounds to ask that he resign so that they can be represented by someone of at least average intelligence.
Hepatitis C, no matter how far advanced, does not expalin why Rep. Johnson apparently believes that islands are just like big boats that float on top of the ocean.
If this poor man is ill, then I extend my sympathy, however he should not have been allowed to be questioning someone, when he is clearly unable to have the most even basic attachment to reality and is therefore completely unfit to fulfil his duties in that house.
If this slurred speech and cognitive impairment is not a result of illness, then I am speechless. This man should NOT be in any position of power or influence. At all. Not even a little bit. Not even for a laugh.
The admiral clearly understood him to say that he was afraid that Guam would tip over.
The whole speech was so stupid as to be unbelievable. Whoever is running against this fool has a perfect campaign ad. The only one’s likely to vote for him are those who believe that he might be right.
