Al Gore apparently has no command of the most basic details of anything related to Earth and climate. His last idiotic gaff in the media was that the temperature of the Earth 2 kilometers or so down was millions of degrees! Apparently, Slate editors who look equally like dufuses for printing this dreck didn’t notice his latest one either. Maybe all those trips around the world in the private jet have damaged his ability to tell the time and date? Too many trip across the International Dateline perhaps?
Here’s an interview question put to him from Slate:
Q: How damaging to your argument was the disclosure of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University?
A: To paraphrase Shakespeare, it’s sound and fury signifying nothing. I haven’t read all the e-mails, but the most recent one is more than 10 years old. These private exchanges between these scientists do not in any way cause any question about the scientific consensus. But the noise machine built by the climate deniers often seizes on what they can blow out of proportion, so they’ve thought this is a bigger deal than it is.
But wait there’s more…
Q: There is a sense in these e-mails, though, that data was hidden and hoarded, which is the opposite of the case you make [in your book] about having an open and fair debate.
A: I think it’s been taken wildly out of context. The discussion you’re referring to was about two papers that two of these scientists felt shouldn’t be accepted as part of the IPCC report. Both of them, in fact, were included, referenced, and discussed. So an e-mail exchange more than 10 years ago including somebody’s opinion that a particular study isn’t any good is one thing, but the fact that the study ended up being included and discussed anyway is a more powerful comment on what the result of the scientific process really is.
These people are examining what they can or should do to deal with the P.R. dimensions of this, but where the scientific consensus is concerned, it’s completely unchanged. What we’re seeing is a set of changes worldwide that just make this discussion over 10-year-old e-mails kind of silly.
Earth to Al, Earth to Al, come in Al.
Despite the fact that some of the 10 year old emails discussed important issues like the 2001 IPCC report and what made it into it…the most recent emails in Climategate were from November 2009. Last month, this year, earth time.
For example, here’s one from November 12th from Phil Jones:

And there are dozens to hundreds more within the last month, the last year, and the last 10 years.

Jeeez!! Gore. What a vacuous nimrod, and people pay to listen to him.

This stuff actually scares me, because Joe Public still thinks Al is the Oracle. If Al says the most recent e-mail is ten years old and it’s irrelevant because the research that was potentially going to be excluded was included, Joe Public swallows this more easily than if any other stiff said it. It’s disgusting, but true. It simply makes the effort required to refute his rubbish that much more strenuous, and I’m sure he knows this … which just demonstrates what a partisan wanker he is.

Here is a story on our hero from back in the day.
The sad thing about all this is that eventually, people will wake up and realize that they haven’t been duped this bad in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time.
When they do, Science, the media and Politics will drift below car salesman in terms of trust and credibility.
Now, the media and politics….yeah whatever…..democracy needs to get back to an honest place and most people I feel sure will have that constant inkling of doubt and skepticism to varying degrees.
Science, now that really makes me sad. I grew up with people like Magnis Pike telling me the reason why it’s easier to pull a grass roller than push it (I didn’t realize till 5th form that I’d learned all about vectors by watching ‘don’t ask me’ from the age of 5)
That is what science is supposed to be…. people who care about truth ….. that’s what science is supposed to be!!
To see it go down in flames for political reasons, now that is what these people will need to go on trial for when this is all over.
The heart of science is truth and the human spirit
I’m glad there are places like this on the net
Thankyou
Oh, I think Al knows they are recent, he mention 10 years a bunch of times.
Al is a pretty good propagandist, repeat repeat repeat, at least when he’s with quislings that help him out.
Al Gore is a buffoon.
The more I read about him, the less I think he’s intelligent and the more I think he’s a puppet. All anyone need do is pull the little string in his back and watch him recite from his vague and somewhat cloudy mind. Which of course concerns me. If he’s not in control of his faculties, who is?
Also, I think it is just pure coincidence that he was able to separate himself from Copenhagen. Or is it that rats are the first to know when a ship is sinking. We will never know.
I had even held this small belief, that Al Gore was some kind of mastermind behind the creation of Global Warming. I am having to rethink that logic.
There is no way he is smart enough to pull off a 20-plus year crusade to hide the decline and manufacture data to support AGW. He’s just too stupid.
I guess I’ll have to look for the real villain behind the man bear pig we have all come to despise.
“The result is a surprisingly accomplished, nuanced piece of writing. The images Gore conjures in his (untitled) poem turn a neat trick: they are visually specific and emotionally arresting”
The poem reads like it has been written by a computer – a series of words chosen randomly then parsed for rhyme and rythm. I assume the critic knew who the poet was before making his comments.
There was once a case where someone trained a monkey to paint. The result was a kind of abstract art in the extreme, which elicited exuberant praise from the art critics. Using their highly trained artiistic knowledge they were able to tell the audience how skillfully the artist used light, colour and form to bring a deeper understanding to the subject matter in hand.
I am not trying to compare Al Gore with a monkey however. Just sayin’.
here’s my question for mr al gore:
CDIAC reports that the CO2 emissions have increased in the last years. The Global temperatures according to CRU have decreased in the last years. Please explain it … I made a graph, and you can see the data/numbers in there: http://durox.wordpress.com/2009/12/09/al-gore-answers-your-climate-change-questions-cnn-am/
The Real issue here is not what Al Gore remembers or what those emails contain ( i think they have been quoted way out of context). we have to analyze whether climate change is real and even more than that whether renewable energy and efficient use of energy is the way forward. i personally think that it is the way forward. i also think that if oil was still continuing its upward climb like last year most people would have been taking renewable energy far more seriously. A nice view of the same can be read here http://www.green-global.net/blog.aspx
I came across an interesting piece in the Irish Times and the author [who’s been around the block for a long time] said it was well known what a venal, nasty clique the CRU are:
He takes a terrible kicking in the comments [things seem to have really changed – any MSM trying to keep the AGW idea alive is drowned in criticism].
“Insiders have long known that some CRU staff were venal, secretive, and sloppy environmentalists.” said the author – pretty strong stuff.

Humans are much better monkeys than monkeys are.
A simple mistake for a man who has his ‘Mind on the money and the money on his mind’.
“David Alan (03:02:05) :
Al Gore is a buffoon.”
That is true however, he has the ear of the stupid and our “leaders” (The terms stupid and “leaders” are interchangeable IMO), unfortunately.
David Alan (03:02:05) :
Therein lies Als brilliance!
Seeing the wheels falling off the wagon, he’s now portraying himself as some kind of moron who could never have thought this up for himself.
Classic misdirection, you’re now looking for another mastermind 😉
DaveE.
If your reputation and livelihood depends on the facts of climate change do you not think you should actually know the facts. He routinely utters complete gibberish and falsehoods and is rarely taken to task on them and when he is regardless of the outcome claims he won.
Al Gore is The Court Fool who fancied himself a King.
Letter to Time – might as well put it here since I very much doubt if Time possess enough integrity yo publish:
“You recently reported Al Gore saying that the climategate emails didn’t matter because “the most recent one is more than 10 years old”. I realise that numerical accuracy is not a strong point with true believers but I feel entitled to ask you to accept that among the emails leaked is one from Professor Jones saying that they would not answer an email question from me because I was a “prat” (its ok I hold a considerably lower opinion of him). My email was dated 3rd October this year & he decided not to reply on the 5th. Even in Goreland that is not 10 years ago. “
When you teach students thre is no truth, only rebellion and change and justice, then what are facts are inconveniences and, like, hard and stuff.
Everyone wants to feel good about themselves.
Al, poor Al,
his bet on the future;
looks like it’s turned sour.
Did he not learn
(in Divinity School)
the future is His,
not his, to rule?
I will resist. Saying something about Gore and his comments is like kicking puppies. It’s too easy and morally wrong to tease someone so obviously challenged
$1200 a plate to meet the originator of the internet, the scourge of the cigarette industry and the savior of Gaia! What a bargain. In fact, the internet did fine without him, his family became rich from tobacco, and he’s a billionaire selling indulgences in artificial carbon credits. How backward can the world be? All from a man with an IQ rivaling several of my dogs and cats (added together).

🙂
You completely missed Al’s point .. you see Al Gore lives in the future .. sometime around 2019.
Do burning pants contribute to global warming?
The point is: lots of people will believe Gore. If he says the mails are old and irrelevant, they will not look farther. Why did the interviewer not call him on this? Is the interviewer that unprepared? Or was this a rigged stage?
He invented the internet, and the Earth is millions of degrees inside.
And the Earth has a fever.
And the science settled: Gore should change his name to Goreon.
Hey, with Al Gore living 10 years into the future, even if Global Warming is ever proven true, we have another 10 years before the window closes.
