Al Gore on SNL skit: What Up With That?

Irony abounds. I wonder what Gore was thinking during all this?

Typical utter nonsense from television. Nauseating. Exactly why I disconnected my cable so many years ago. This just convinces me further that there is no going back to mainstream entertainment. An utter waste. Depressing actually. Stuff like that makes me feel very alone. I guess I’m just a freak in the closet. Don’t mind me.
But do you really think it’s possible SNL was clueing in on WUWT? I wonder… It certainly seems like it…

Indeed… What’s up with that? SNL was funny back when I used to live in the US (1988-1992) … seems to have gone hill dramatically since then if this is the best they serve up these days.

Despite the ridiculousness of this video clip – Gore still gets plenty of press – and some serious misinformation continues to be presented as unbiased fact:

Since my last post, I’ve been humbled by a publically- funded, televised moment of self-reflective guilt. Apparently, if I drive five miles less per week, everything will be just hunkey-dorey ( aka I’ve just saved the planet)
A rather non-pc thought did, however, intrude on my self-congrats; Are they just lying to me?
Fellow citizens – no way – these guys are totally on our side!

“Exactly why I disconnected my cable so many years ago. “ Gary
Yes, TV sucks except for less than a dozen shows including:
The Simpsons
South Park
The Science Channel
The History Channel
Turner Classic Movies
What irony! Hundreds of channels with little to see unless one is a sports nut.

Yes, it was Dirty Harry that did it. Thoughout that text file he keeps notes wondering about the integrity of the data handed him.
Then it dawned on him. He figured out they were using him to launder the files they had already purged. So, Harry goes fishing about, and comes across originals, and the people and processes used to mangle the data.

I enjoyed the SNL skit, especially when it appears that Goricle was the totally the left out buffoon playing himself.

SNL has a well-earned reputation for responding quite quickly to what’s happening outside of the studio. They also had (it’s been years since I saw a show) reputation for not taking any prisoners. It just might be either a case of them knowing the Hadley leak has destroyed the credibility of the AGW mob and have shown it by the fact that with this skit SNL has totally PWND Al Gore. Or, alternate universe and an older parallel, AGW has jumped the shark. Either way Copenhagen just might get verrry interesting (even older reference).

What was Al thinking during all of this? My guess: “I didn’t know Al Sharpton could sing and dance.”
This should skit should be reprised at every Al Gore appearance from now on.

You know, it would be cool if you could get the ‘What Up With That” music to fire up when you go to the home page…. I doubt NBC would play along with that though.

“The Enemy (14:31:50) :
It’s kind of funny that the readers of this site consider it a possibility that the SNL skit is about WUWT.com.
This post by Mr. Watts is a good example of the dynamic at this site. Watts would like to claim that the SNL skit is about him but he knows he shouldn’t go that far and so he posts the video and some vague comment about it knowing that readers will make the connection for him.
xTxEx”
The pomposity of this comment in the shadow of the SNL humor just frames the issue more clearly. It doesn’t matter if SNL wanted to tie into WUWT. Who, beyond this woebegone mortal cares. This is funny. The justaposition of theatrical nonsense on top of AlGores serious attempt to promote his book (with the wierd cover pictures) all fits and its hillarious. Perhaps fitting, perhaps ironic, but fun by any measure. This person is seriously troubled.
What a hoot!!

“I’m sure the WUWT title was surely coincidental. Would anyone really believe the writers at SNL have any knowledge of it?”
The answer to that is when the song switches from the colloquial “What up with that” to “What’s up with that”. They knew exactly watt they were saying. The humor may be more droll. But it is still there. If you’re not sure, just remember those Schwetty Balls!

I think you are on the right track. A snip from O’s speech at MIT, a snip from SNL, all saying WUWT!

If Dirty Harry did it, how did he get all the emails?
That i think points more to Who Did It?
Or is it a Plural answer? One or more people grabbed emails, others grabbed raw data.
Or it could be as simple as, The AGW people compiled the data (stupidly) into one file, to prepare for the FOIA if it wasn’t turned down. and if it was turned down, then the smoking gun could be archived into obscurity (like Indiana Jones’ Ark) Probably not hard to copy (when found) if that occurred.
I also forsee this as being an Brietbart kind of thing, with more data still to be released, less “Random” and “Selected”, and pointed at the current cover up-lies. Brietbart proved a way to deal with evidence of a corrupt organization that is strongly approved by the dominant media.

Very, very, VERY funny.
Subtle humor….but I think a previous poster had it right….per the writers:
The joke was on Al.
Hell…at least he was a good sport about it…
And regardless if WUWT played any part in it (I think it did)…here’s to *TOAST* a really great forum that is making some big waves….er um…GI-NORMOUS steep-walled….30 meter rogue Schrodinger Draupner-like waves.
We are witnessing history, folks.
Yeah, yeah I heard the round of applause for Al Gore from the SNL audience.
But the relentless, nagging, constant, non-stop pulling of the LOGIC ROPES, through all kinds of weather, from all corners the world of truth from AirVent to WUWT to ICECAP to CLimateAudit.
Hell….even RealClimate is allowing some people to raise serious questions (who’d ever thought there would come a day!).
Give it time. Your efforts will pay off. The Scientific Method will win once again.
Not a moment too soon in the aftermath of one of the greatest, GREATEST scientific frauds to ever have been perpetrated upon our species.
Hang tough. A new day dawns. We will evolve.
And if we don’t…well…that is Nature’s way of saying….BYE BYE.
But I think we will.

My bet is one the poor sod who wrote the: “READ ME for Harry’s work on the CRU TS2.1/3.0 datasets, 2006-2009!” I bet after he saw that the whole data set was simply guess work
That’s the first thing I read and yes, it was facinating. I feel sorry for the guy.

monkeyboy (12:06:36) :
for non Americans

Thanks for that monkeyboy. That was funny. Al Gore was treated just like the buffoon he is. Mind you for non-americans half the stuff was gibberish – but funny nonetheless.
From what I could make out:
Monkeyboy – (After 3 minutes of monkeying around) Well lets get down to biznez! Former Vice President Al Gore is here – (Al smiles and nods in acknowledgement – applause) he is a (staunch?) advocate for the environment.
Al Baby – Andre? its such a pleasure
Monkeyboy (Andre?) – Pleasure is all mine Al, pleasures all mine – heh heh heh … (laughter) – now you have a nuuu (we call it new to rhyme with pew) book down (sounds like put down) called I was short? the man who solve the climate crisis – that right?
Al Baby – I do – (holds book up with huricanes air brushed on cover) this is an issue I have been working on for a laang time and I feel we have aal the tools to saalve this problem (laughter) except perhaps the political will…
Monkeyboy – po-lit-ical will, po-lit-ical wi-ill (more laughter louder) –
Al looks quizzical – not amused, bites his lips and carries on raising his voice a notch, FFortunately in the United States Political will is a renewable resource – (Monkeyboy – Ren-ew-able Resource – laughter) – Al glances around preplexed – not happy – not quite knowing what to make of this – after a pause decides to plow on manfully – THIS IS A CRISIS OF UNPRECEDENTED (Monkeyboy -UNPRECEDENTED BAYBAYYEE) but I think we’re upto the challange …
Monkeyboy – sings dances- I gat to get up (gets up) I gatta saayee — OOO ee Watt up with dat .. watt up with dat … dancers on stage – Al gestures in utter confusion – preplexed – vigorous dances while Al tries his best to avoid a swinging guitar.
Monkeyboy sits down. Al extends his hand questioningly says something inaudible (what?…) – Monkeyboy – well looks like we’re outta time… applause…
Excellent way to treat Al Gore… Just the right intellectual level for his crap.
That Watt up with that – could be the signature tune for WUWT.

This skit is absolutely brilliant – especially how they conned Gore into “playing along” with six plus minutes of making a total mockery of him. He is probably still clueless as to the high likelihood that he was not there to be a contrast to the parade of clowns, but was just another member of the circus.
By the way, the music is excellent… I have a musical education and came away highly impressed with the skit on its musical value alone. That was a really well done musical production!
