Al Gore on SNL skit: What Up With That?

Irony abounds. I wonder what Gore was thinking during all this?

He was probably thinking how much longer is this crappy skit, just like every other host the past few decades.

Is that Al Gore or Alec Baldwin?

Great moment for Al Gore!

Not much happening in Gore’s brain… he’s the caricature of the (brainless) Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. Jim Hansen is the wizard and since the HADCRUT hacked site the curtains have been drawn back to show the wizard has no clothes.

Ok, I can picture that, except where the scarecrow had straw sticking out all over the place, Gore would have dollar bills.

It’s kind of funny that the readers of this site consider it a possibility that the SNL skit is about WUWT.com.
This post by Mr. Watts is a good example of the dynamic at this site. Watts would like to claim that the SNL skit is about him but he knows he shouldn’t go that far and so he posts the video and some vague comment about it knowing that readers will make the connection for him.

Gore is due to appear on 30 Rock soon.
Tina Fey and Gore, together.

You know what’s really funny … is that I have ALWAYS imagined WUWT sung to the tune of a sweaty James Brown riff
Talk about your anthropogenic warming ! The godfather of soul really puts out the BTU’s !

It’s [deleted] Green Week on NBC. That means that put in shameless plugs for GE’s shameless efforts to profit on global warming fears.

I guess I’m dating myself when I say that I remember when SNL was actually funny. It’s true! I know, I know, it’s difficult to believe, but back in the first few years they actually had funny people doing funny things.
Maybe it’s more of a sad commentary on modern civilization that a skit like that IS considered funny today. I mean, why listen to anyone? We all know what they’re probably going to say, so just get their faces on there and pretend they said it… drown them out…
And no, “TE”, nobody here ACTUALLY believes it was about WUWT, I really wish that trolls would comprehend the definition of “sarcasm”. Don’t they teach that at troll training school?

Actually, what’s funny is blithering idiot trolls coming here making wild baseless claims about the site, about Anthony, and the readers, and thus making complete fools of themselves. Thanks for playing.
Fool.

Oooh – Samurai Climate Researcher…
Jane Curtain: Excuse me, I’m not sure this MWP really belongs here…
John Belushi: Eh? MWP? Haiiiiiiii—– WHACK… no mo mwp.
Dan Aykroyd: Say, does this look like a hockey stick to you?
John Belushi: Eh? Hockey Stick? HAIIIII — WHACK…. there, hockey stick.
Just a thought.

I liked that!
How many people will search “Al Gore” and “Whats up with that” looking for that and end up here instead?

What a strange weekend this has been. When the story about the gentleman in the gray-Coat broke, I was initially elated but now I’m much less so.
Mr Gores video, for me, has just reinforced my deflating sense of elation.
The pop-idol, self-seeking clamour to be a celebrity is understandable where politicians are involved but the planet-saving, the end-is-worth the means gropings of grant-supported and supposedly serious scientists is beyond belief!
Phil, prior to your resignation from heading up a motely cru of earnest but delusionalist clever-folks do you still subscribe to the technique of marginalization of those who dissent?

November 22, 2009 3:29 pm

It gets funnier every time I watch it.
“I got Pac-Man Fever And I got it good?”
It shows about what level scientific discourse has sunk to in the main stream media. I especially like the guy in the clown wig. The guy in the joggin suit is good too.

Update: The official UEA statement is as follows:
“We are aware that information from a server used for research information
in one area of the university has been made available on public websites,”
the spokesman stated.
“Because of the volume of this information we cannot currently confirm
that all of this material is genuine.”
“This information has been obtained and published without our permission
and we took immediate action to remove the server in question from
operation.”
“We are undertaking a thorough internal investigation and we have involved
the police in this enquiry.”
An external hacker or an inside job? That is the question!

“Jane, you ignorant slut”
IMO the funniest thing about this skit is the irony, as the skit itself was pretty poor, and as mentioned earlier it is a reoccurring skit.

Pretty subtle for a writer at SNL NBC owned by GE maker of wind turbines to use the American Black vernacular, “Whut up with that?” to create the linkage. “Sure, Al, we won’t ask you any hard questions, come plug your book! ”
It IS a plug for the book in prime time BUT Albert Gore and book are minimized, (along with two other guests, “Not just you Al, baby, two other guests, too, ya know?”)
Looks like host & friends are just too busy, too mindless, or too I just gotta sing to too take serious notice of award winning Ex-VP Gore and his book of ‘choices’ for climate change. Wow!
Political satire is ‘under the radar’ political persuasion. Good piece.
Or, on the other hand, it’s just a coincidence.

An external hacker or an inside job? That is the question!
My bet is one the poor sod who wrote the: “READ ME for Harry’s work on the CRU TS2.1/3.0 datasets, 2006-2009!” I bet after he saw that the whole data set was simply guess work and not at all meaningful he released the information before the world’s economies were destroyed by such outlandish foolishness.
That or someone else inside.
And you should read that file documenting 3 years of trying to make sense of the data set and codes. What a tale that file tells.

Here is the Al Gore skit on 30 Rock.
http://www.hulu.com/watch/109158/30-rock-sun-tea
The part with AL Gore is at about 19:30 in.
Don’t watch the episode if you like sun tea.

I have seen this skit before. I think at least twice. It’s nothing to do with Watts Up With That but the coincidence is really neat. I do need to give Al Gore credit for being a good sport. Maybe it is training for when he becomes known as a complete joke to everyone.
