Nature’s Carbon Cycle with Dr. Ganapathy Shanmugam | Climate Debrief

.

CO2 Coalition

Dr. Ganapathy Shanmugam joins Angela Wheeler on Climate Debrief to explore the science of natural ocean fertilization.

He explains how desert dust supplies iron and other nutrients that trigger phytoplankton blooms, strengthen the biological carbon pump, and support marine food webs.

Drawing on multiple case studies and satellite observations, he examines the connection between dust, ocean productivity, atmospheric CO₂, and past climate conditions.

He also discusses CO₂’s importance for plant growth and the global greening observed in recent decades. The episode offers a closer look at the natural processes that shape Earth’s carbon cycle.

Saharan dust also travels over the Mediterranean – I know this because I have skied on sand-containing snow in the Alps!!

Elementary biology. No relevance to the false narrative of carbon dioxide being the controller of the planet, rather the planet having significant control of the carbon dioxide.
