From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

I have long believed Miliband is determined to do as much irreversible damage to the country as he can before he gets chucked out:
From the Telegraph:

Labour is to ban new oil and gas fields in Britain, making it far harder for any future government to reopen the North Sea.
A legal prohibition on new drilling will be included in the energy independence bill, part of the raft of new legislation set out by the King in his speech opening Parliament on Wednesday.
The bill will make Ed Miliband’s temporary moratorium on new drilling permanent, ensuring it would be far harder for a future government to reverse the ban. Labour also plans to legally ban onshore fracking.
A detailed note released by the Energy Secretary’s officials after the King’s Speech said the bill would “meet [Labour’s] manifesto commitment not to issue new licences to explore new fields, including delivering the commitment to ban fracking”.
However, the timing is controversial because the Iran war has choked off supplies of fuel from the Middle East and created a global oil crisis. Leading executives, including the bosses of British Gas and Octopus Energy, have urged Mr Miliband to rethink his North Sea policy as a result.
The Energy Secretary’s plan won praise from environmental campaigners but generated a backlash from his political rivals, the offshore industry and Sir Tony Blair’s think tank.
Claire Coutinho, the shadow energy secretary, said the policy would “amount to the wilful destruction of our own domestic energy supplies and people’s livelihoods”.
She added: “It is utterly shameful and we Conservatives will fight them every step of the way.”
Richard Tice, Reform’s energy spokesman, called the plan “ludicrous”.
Full story here.
Now why would Ed Miliband fear being chucked out..?
If the real intent is to force people to abandon Oil then Ed Minibrain should stop complaining about the price of Oil from the Iran conflict and praise Trump for doing what he couldn’t.
Off the scale self-loathing is a feature of the Miliband family and mad Ed, like his father, does not like the English at all.
He is indeed most fortunate that he can beaver away at our economic suicide while civil war has broken out in the Labour government. And it’s going to run and run.
Tomorrow in London there will be two demonstrations: Unite the Kingdom and another free Palestine march. One will be policed with facial recognition etc the other will not. Can you guess which one?
Unite the Kingdom of course.
I am pretty confident both marches will be policed with facial recognition. But at the “safe” one it will be ostentatious.
Are you?
Tory fury as ‘facial recognition cameras at Unite the Kingdom – not Palestine marches’. – Express
Live facial recognition will be used in Camden, where Unite the Kingdom attendees are expected to gather, comparing faces of passers-by against a specific watchlist. This technology will not be used on pro-Palestine marchers. Brit Brief
That’ll be Sadiq Khan – he is the commissioner…
What the security services say and what they do need not be the same.
If I wanted to trap a wary animal I’d keep a low profile myself. But hey ho; maybe they really are content to spy on only the compliant locals.
This is islam… The security services will be operating the normal two-tier operations.
You may be right. But it’s hard to believe that is enough to animate him to do the damage he’s proposing. I feel there must be more.
I am afraid he really is thick enough to believe the stuff he says.
His father is on record…
It’s a prerequisite, not the be all and end all. It makes all else possible.
Never underestimate your opponents. I don’t think he’s thick. And yes, I think there is more, and that it qualifies as treason.
You’re right
Intellectual Yet Idiot: Ed Miliband and the Economic Illiteracy Driving Britain’s Energy Crisis
I hope someone out there hears the message –
Humans don’t get Miliband’s resume without being good at a few things.
Being correct is nice and looks good in history books.
Maybe Miliband has picked some other goal.
I used to say “Idiots don’t get to be president” when US commentators liked to comment that W Bush was an idiot.
I had to reevaluate that when I saw Biden elected to US President while slipping then start a reelection campaign while mostly gone.
Now I say “Idiots don’t get to make decisions that look like they come from a president”. It is not as strong a statement, but it’s all I’ve got left after the Biden fiasco. He might have destroyed his own party – we’ll see.
You can go back to your strong statement when you realize Biden wasn’t elected.
When Miliband has mastered the art of bacon sandwich consumption then he might have time to consider the impact his North Sea energy policy is having on the UK economy.
We should leave him to the important task of learning how to masticate before expecting him to undertake more advanced activities.
Bacon might as well be dry ice.
Ed Miliband’s behaviour is so damaging to Britain that it can only be called treasonous.
Deliberate destruction is way above treason.
Alas, poor UK, we knew it well!
Good, it’s a non-solution anyways

Say the haters of fossil fuels. How convenient.
Miliband calls the fossil-fuel market a roller-coaster. That’s an odd term for an efficient market accommodating random shortages, but whatever; its excursions are at intervals of many years.
Renewables on the other hand are akin to driving fast on a road full of pot-holes (dunkelflaute) and speed bumps (nightfall).
We may have a problem with fossil-fuels every 10 or 20 years, but renewable are not the answer. They are an additional problem.
You left out ice, which is where you lose control, aka grid stability.
Keep trying. We enjoy watching your Pavlov’s Dog impression.
We need to inform the Carbon Brief guys that fossil fuels used by power plants provide the electricity for the website.
How ignorant are these people?
I enjoy it about as much as I enjoy getting a needle stuck in my eye.
Good
I hear you recently won the David Attenborough award for Malthusian of the year.
Congratulations.
Is the Malthusian of the Year award better than, lesser than, or comparable to the Sophistry Class A award?
Hmm….
You have to be somewhat intelligent for sophistry. MunR is substandard, drive-by trolling.
“Indeed, numerous experts have explained that new drilling would make no difference to bills in the UK.”
Numerous experts don’t understand that increasing supply results in lower price for the same demand? Wow, how did they get to be experts without an economics course in their schooling?
Also: Though the link is on UK oil fields, the name ‘Trump’ appears on te first page. Why/
There is no point in banning development of the North Sea, it is a stranded asset. It would be far more sensible to open up the North Sea and issue as many exploration and development and pipeline and refinery and transport permits as they possibly can. That way, the oil companies would pour vast amounts of their shareholders’ money into it all and when the green predictions come true they will lose it all. You see, it isn’t necessary for a government to do everything, they can just leave it to the free market and the lemmings will follow.
Disclosure: I own shares in coal-producing companies.
Disclosure – we have mad Ed
Ah. The “evil” free market (supply and demand) capitalism.
How dare you! /s
Sad to see UK intentionally devolving from a world power to a third world state.
And for what? A possible 0.5% to 1% reduction in anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere?
And at a cost of arable farmland, environmental devastation, and potential species extinctions?
No, Willis Eschenbach has worked out that if UK’s Net Zero succeeds (ho ho) the globe in 2100 will be seven ten thousandths of a degree C cooler
Note I put in (~ 0.04) ppm, not any mention of a fraction of a degree C.
I love Willis’s work, but converting theoretical UK emissions savings into theoretical global average temperature change gives results of the same believability regardless of how much we respect the person running the model – not buying it.
This ^
Ed Miliband is workig for the enemies of the UK. What more proof does anybody need. Just lock him uip.
Typo Alert: uip. If after posting a comment you spot a typo, move the mouse pointer to the lower right corner of the comment box and there will appear a small gear wheel. Up placing the pointer on the gear wheel, the message: “Manage Comment” appears. Placing the pointer on this results the instruction “Edit”. Click on it and your comment is displayed in light grey text. Make corrections and then click on “Save”. You have a five minute window for making corrections after posting a comment.
That works if you are quick enough and have not closed and reopened the page.
Huh? Your comment wrong. This method works _after_ you have posted a comment. I found that you can continue making corrections many times within the five window.
If Britain would commit more to the Persian Gulf area and help us secure the Hormuz, we could get more oil flowing through there and bring down oil and gasoline/petrol prices fairly soon.
That would be the first step in a direction the Western world is reluctant to go.
It’s inefficient, but I get it.
If Britain would commit more to the Persian Gulf area and help us secure the Hormuz, we could get more oil flowing through there and bring down oil and gasoline/petrol prices fairly soon.
Once again I see a double post of a comment. Could it be that the grave yard shift moderators were dozing off and therefore didn’t delete it? A double post wastes comment storage space.
Every comment from you is a waste of comment storage space.
Humor – a difficult concept.

On the serious side, do we know what causes double posts?
Is it the user double clicks too fast or is something else?
If we know how to avoid them, we can strive to avoid them.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers.
Don’t post twice when the first when wasn’t approved.
Ouch!
LOL!
As a retired organic chemist of 81 years and with Ph.D., it is my obligation and mission to explain to the people who come this website that the CO2 from use of fossil fuels does not cause global warming as alleged by the corrupt IPCC and the unscrupulous collaborating scientists. You are certainly aware of what they have done and are now doing to the economies of UK, Germany, Australia, New York, California, many other states and countries who made the ridiculous pledge of Net Zero by 2050. They obviously have forgotten about winter. Gov. Gavin N. of CA has chased away most all the oil refineries and in a few months only 11 will be left.
For example, I often mention to commenters that they should go to the late John L. Daly’s website:
“Still Waiting For Greenhouse” available at:
http://www.john-daly.com. He was the first citizen-scientist to show by compiling empirical temperature data from over 200 weather stations that CO2 does not cause any warming of air. Shown below is plot of the annual mean temperature in Adelaide from 1857 to 1999.
I live in British Columbia which one the first political jurisdictions to levy a carbon tax on fossil fuels. In 2009 the tax was $10 per tonne of CO2 equivalent. Then the government got greedy, slowly ramped up the tax, and by 2024 it was $80 per tonne of CO2 equivalent. The government was raking several billion dollars a year. On Jan 1, 2025, the consumer carbon tax was canceled. The price of gas and diesel dropped about 25 cents per liter and food got a cheaper.
The federal government has now introduced the “industrial carbon tax” of $110 per tonne of CO2 equivalent which will rise to $170 per tonne in 2030.
This will increase the cost of all goods and services and will have no effect on air temperature, weather and climate in Canada.
Here is comment I often post:
At the Mauna Loa Obs. in Hawaii, the concentration of CO2 is currently 431 ppmv. One cubic meter of this air has a mass of 1,290 and contains a mere 0.85 g of CO2 at STP. This small amount of CO2 cannot absorbed enough out-going IR light emanating for the earth’s surface to heat up such a large mass of air.
NB: If you click on the chart, it will expanded and become clear. Click on the “X” in the circle to contract the chart and return to Comments.
Usually when you click on the “Post Comment” button, you see a scrolling indicator in the top right corner of the screen, indicating that they system is working on your post. On rare occasions, I don’t see this indicator. After waiting a few seconds, I hit the “Post Comment” button a second time.
Every time I see a double post from me, it has been after one of these instances.
I rarely ever have a double post. I just click on “post comment”, and it automatically updates the page with my one, single post. I don’t know where the double post comes from, unless hitting the back arrow on the browser somehow sends the post out twice.
We need to inform mad Ed that from oil is produced oils and greases without which UK would come to a grinding halt. No oil means no diesel for the heavy machinery used in agriculture. No natural gas means no hydrogen for the manufacture of ammonia which is converted to nitrate fertilizers.
No coal means no coke production for iron ore smelters. Pig iron from the smelters is used for making steel which is for making cans for food.
Once again I ask: What is this guy thinking?
What if he already knows?
It’s ALL part of the plan!
What is he thinking?
He is thinking, if I continue to do the things I am doing, my ultimate objective to destroy the independence of the UK, will be achieved.
He and his boss Starmer want the UK back under the control of the WEF/UN sponsored EU bureaucrats. Everything he is doing is predicated on that objective.
The destruction of the UK economy is necessary to force a return to EU subservience. Ed Miliband, along with the whole UK establishment i.e. the civil service, the BBC, the Guardian, academia and the entire public sector are focused on that goal.
The voting public are saying, No.
We live in interesting and changing times.
Not really news, but worth repeating, in the North-Sea context.
“ban new oil and gas fields”
Horizontal drilling comes to mind.
You’d never find his brain!
I remember when North Sea oil was hailed as a solution for Scotland: more jobs, and cheap and abundant petroleum.
Banning it is crazy. What the hell is wrong with these labour people?
I’m really starting to wonder just whose payroll Mad Ed is on. Any guesses?
