Live at 1PM ET – IT’S OVER! US Out of UN Climate Regime – The Climate Realism Show #187

President Donald Trump on Wednesday withdrew the United States from the United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent also announced that the United States is out of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for developing countries. The Trump administration also withdrew the U.S. from more than 60 other international organizations, including dozens of U.N.-linked bodies.

This is a breathtaking and historic move by Trump, something that was simply unimaginable until it actually happened. On the first episode of The Climate Realism Show of 2026, The Heartland Institute’s Jim Lakely, Anthony Watts, Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken will discuss what this means for the future of the global climate agenda.

We will also welcome a special guest, Lucy Biggers. Once a died-in-the-wool climate alarmist, Lucy came to see the light, and the truth, and is now one of America’s best communicators for climate realism.

TIP
From “spaceweather dot com” {more there}
THE ARCTIC STRATOSPHERE IS GETTING COLD: Very cold. NASA climate models say the current temperature is -80 C, typical of winter months inside the Arctic Circle. This means it is now cold enough for Type I Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSCs):

2025 minimum sea ice extent was measurably higher than it was in 2007 when at the “ice free summers” hysteria started. The previous two years indistinguishable from 2007.

The “canary in the coal mine” is doing fine. Still bold yellow feathers and chirping cheerfully.

What was that famous Churchill quote about end of the beginning?
Short Google AI search says:

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end.
But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning,”      Churchill 1942

Considering yesterday’s “Climate Change is causing worse migraines”
it’s going to be a while before there’s any discernible tide turning.

IIRC, Sir Winston Churchill issued the statement after the British Eight Army led by Field Marshal Montgomery defeated the German Afrika Korp led Field Marshal Rommel at the Battle of Alamein.

Yes, it was rather prophetic too. Basically, before Alamein we had no victories; after Alamein no defeats. Arnhem didn’t go so well though.

The irony of the Africa campaign by the Arika Korp to capture the oil in the Middle East and the Suez canal was that Libya had vast deposits of oil. Rommel and his tanks just rolled right over the vast deposits of oil and also an large aquifer of water.

Possible ‘Story Tip‘ relating to a previous much-discussed post on the TAE Reactors
*TAE <—> tri-alpha-energy inc., or hydrogen-boron fusion:

… TMTG-CEO @DevinNunes’ latest interview about TAE’s recently announced fusion power plant site selection process

What a search yields:

TAE Technologies, in partnership with TMTG, recently began planning for their first fusion power plant site, focusing on locations needing at least 20 acres, grid access, proximity to urban centers and talent, supportive governments, and security, with construction anticipated to start in 2026 after their merger closes to build a 50 MWe reactor, with future plans for larger reactors.

Site Selection Criteria

  • Land: Minimum 20 acres for initial 50 MWe reactor, future 350-500 MWe reactor, and research facilities.
  • Grid Access: Proximity to a primary distribution grid for power transmission.
  • Logistics: Near a metropolitan area and airport.
  • Workforce: Access to a skilled labor pool.
  • Government Support: Favorable local and state governments for energy projects.
  • Security: Ability to ensure adequate security for facilities and personnel.

Project Timeline & Context

  • Merger: The site selection process began following a merger announcement between TMTG and TAE Technologies, expected to close mid-2026.
  • Construction Start: Construction for the first 50 MWe plant is slated to begin in 2026, following merger completion.
  • Technology: The project uses TAE’s unique approach to magnetic confinement fusion, aiming to generate electricity for the AI boom.

Key Goal

  • To build a scalable fusion power source, starting small and growing to large-scale commercial plants, delivering carbon-free energy.

What will be the carbon footprint for the construction of commercial reactor?

The technology description is convincing and someone thinks it is valid, hence the bucks invested.

CCGT power to start it up, ok, but if, repeat if, it is real, it will produce with the CCGT electricity turned off.

Fascinating. The post to which I replied was changed after I posted.

What type of energy is released in the fusion reaction and how it is used to produce steam for the turbine that drives the generator?

My name is Robert Edge.

I am being persecuted by the UK Government for my rejection of the so-called “climate crises” and the need for “Net Zero” espoused by the moronic Ed Miliband.

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, Article 8 U.S.C. § 1158, I claim asylum in the United States of America.

something that was simply unimaginable until it actually happened.

Why unimaginable? Rud Istvan and others told this to Trump last time and pointed out the futility of pulling out of IPCC, which needs a 4y period of notice and can be reversed in ONE DAY once you’re out.

UNFCCCP only needs 1y notice and pulls the run on IPCC.

At last some sanity in a mad mad world.

Rud Istvan told Trump last time this is what he needed to do and instead he did the pointless IPCC move, knowing full well it needed a 4y period of notice and that it could be reversed in ONE DAY by his successor.

At least he’s made the right move this time.

One bit of sanity in a mad, mad world.
