COP30 opened in Belém on Monday with a clear message: the era of half-measures is over. Climate change is here, devastating communities and driving up costs, but solutions are within reach. Clean energy is surging, resilience saves lives, and cooperation can still bend the curve further.
“This is the moment to match opportunity with urgency,” said Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, calling for a decisive defeat of climate denial and faster action to keep the 1.5°C goal alive.

They control algorithms, sow hatred, spread fear, and attack institutions, science, and universities. It is time to impose a new defeat on denialists. Without the Paris Agreement, the world would be heading toward catastrophic warming of nearly 5°C by the end of the century.”

Clearly we are not past the age of demonising climate skeptics.
On a positive note climate skeptics are winning, otherwise we wouldn’t occupy so much realestate in the minds of green true believers.
The reference to “control algorithms” is intriguing. I’ve said for a while that I believe Silicon Valley big tech abandoned climate activism and secretly helped President Trump win in 2024, because they desperately need a secure supply of abundant cheap energy to power their AI systems, to keep up with competitors in Asia. Is President Lula’s references to “algorithms” corroboration of this suspicion? If anyone notices green true believers lashing out at big tech in the next few weeks or months, please leave a story tip comment.

What I see more of is indirect ‘control’ done because more from what they can do than what is necessary. It occurs from cars to many other areas we have to deal with that computers have made possible. Promises of less paperwork failed. AI might be scary that way more from dumb use than other sins,not to deny their existence. I was just told by a relative about a professor friend worried about incompetence.

What Lula da Silva is really saying is that we should stop presenting the real facts about what the supposed climate change is causing and what more or most of the harebrained ideas to combat it can really achieve. Suddenly these recent violent storms, droughts, wildfires and floods are occurring when they never occurred before since we somehow had the weather and climate under near-total control. Yet we can restore this mythical control by adopting all sorts of green products and renewable energies made possible by a multitude of new taxes, laws, restrictions and mandates. Except voters and consumers have already shown they won’t tolerate the type of costs and inconveniences guaranteed to accompany such proposals, and that’s the main explanation that governments worldwide have learned that to impose them on a skeptical public is to commit political suicide.

For sake of argument, let’s grant all of his claims as valid.
Their own date indicates that if the entire Western World were to magically get to net zero overnight, the declared emissions from China and India would STILL result in a WW increase.
What is his plan to get China and India to reduce emissions?

Yes! We need to apply a little tree stump/tree line science to these Climate Alarmists to show them that history actually refutes their claims that today is the hottest time in human history, or that CO2 has anything to do with regulating Earth’s temperatures.
The viewpoint of Climate Alarmists has been skewed by thinking the bogus Hockey Stick global temperature chart represents reality. It does not, and history shows it does not.
Yet, this bogus Hockey Stick chart is the ONLY thing Climate Alarmists have to hang their hat on (show a correlation between CO2 and temperatures). History shows there is no correlation between CO2 and temperatures. History also shows the bogus Hockey Stick global chart is indeed bogus.
I fully agree Tom. In addition, we now know that human emissions are less than 5% of all CO2 in the atmosphere, so that even if CO2 was driving warming, reducing emissions is not going to change anything measurable.
So, the whole UN emissions mitigation policy is a farce, or really is just an excuse to decarbonize and weaken western economies, so that developing counties can overtake rich nations and install a world government run by caring socialist UN stooges.

Sooner or later the modelers of the general circulation will explain that energy conversion within the general circulation massively overwhelms the minor incremental IR absorbing power from rising concentrations of CO2, CH4, N2O. This means there never was any good physical reason to expect emissions to drive a trend of temperature or of any climate variable.
What then? Will the warmists deny that the resolved – not parameterized – computational outputs of the models are not representative of the real circulation?

And in the ice core reconstructions, temperature change LEADS, atmospheric CO2 FOLLOWS, over and over. With a time lag of hundreds of years during which there is REVERSE CORRELATION. Which again, simply would not occur if atmospheric CO2 had any significant influence.
And if that is not enough, the ice core reconstructions also show that the Earth’s “average” temperature (as meaningless as that is) consistently begins to RISE when atmospheric CO2 is FALLING and near its LOW point, and consistently begins FALLING when atmospheric CO2 is RISING and near its HIGH POINT. Precisely the opposite of what we would observe if atmospheric CO2 had any influence.

Wouldn’t it be nice for these CAGW fakers to share some of their science with us? They don’t know what the average global temperature is today much less in 1850, they are just making numbers up. They know the effectiveness of CO2 as a greenhouse gas is logarithmic so won’t cause runaway global warming. They know water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas far more potent than CO2. They know rising ocean levels are not accelerating. They know earth has been warming because the little ice age was ending in the 1800s. They know that is why the glaciers began retreating. They know we have always had severe weather and it isn’t getting more powerful or more frequent. They know that it was fossil fuels that lifted us out of poverty and made our lives far more comfortable. They know we now burn fossil fuel cleaner, safer and more efficiently than ever. They know that nuclear is a clean, safe and affordable source of energy. They know all this and more yet still cling to their lying cheating ways. They are an embarrassment to our modern society.
