UK Electricity Consumption

The REF’s new report on green energy subsidies noted that renewables subsidies are now costing £25.8 bn per year – or over £900 per household annually – about one third of which, £280, will hit the average domestic electricity bill directly.
For a long time, part of the gaslighting around the cost of Net Zero has been focus people’s attention over the impact on their energy bills.
However, as John Constable pointed out, only about a third of the cost hits the public directly via their electricity bills, because only a third of electricity is consumed by domestic users.
The other two thirds is used by industry and commerce, transport and the public sector.
But that does not mean that the public at large don’t end up footing the entire bill one way or another.
Higher electricity costs for industry and commerce mean higher prices in the shops. And higher electricity costs in the public sector mean higher taxes or poorer public services.
At the worst, businesses may shut or move their production abroad, leaving us all worse off.
Miliband and co would love you to think you are only paying a hundred quid or so for Net Zero. People would be horrified to learn that the price is nearer a thousand quid a year.
And that cost is of course just for starters. When we all have to buy expensive EVs and heat pumps we don’t want, we will be much worse off.

Not only is it spending money on things we don’t want like EVs and Heat Pumps but also their induced demand increases coupled with the additional electrification charges and the required increase in unreliable renewables which will further increase subsidy charges.
Always remember climate science is not political science but simply relies on the facts-
Ed Miliband sacks Dame Mary Archer to ‘suppress opposition’ to Net Zero
From your link: “‘I think they are quite keen to suppress all opposition to their Net Zero zealotry,’ he told The Telegraph.
‘Clearly they are not interested in listening to people on their board who have a different point of view.
‘The attitude of the Secretary of State seems to be to double down and resist all criticism…”
Miliband is in denial and is doubling down on stupid.
These guys will never admit they were wrong to pursue Net Zero. Damn the torpedoes (UK economic collapse), full steam ahead!
“Zealotry” is the proper description.
I’m still looking forward to President Trump commenting on this failed Net Zero policy of the UK. He was disparaging windmills again in a speech he gave a few days ago. Trump doesn’t like windmills. He says your property value declines by half if a windmill is put up in sight of your home. He also doesn’t like that windmills are not reliable generators of electricity. In his speeches, he tells a story about a man whose wife wants to watch the television and the husband has to tell her she can’t watch television because the wind isn’t blowing.
Trump has a lot of fun discussing windmills.
All I hear from the Starmybarmyarmy is:
”We have to go further, faster”
Oblivion, here we come.
”We have to go further, faster”, said the leading lemming. What could possibly go wrong?
England to planet Earth: “See? We’re helping to save you!”
Planet Earth: “Save yourselves. I’m fine.”
It still surprises me that people do not understand/ realise that when business costs / infeed/ tax etc etc can only be paid for by the business by increasing their prices.
Socialists in particular do not understand basic business concepts.
Our very own starmer is a classic case.
Might the surprise be misplaced? Are the Nut Zeros really that stupid? Or are they mindful and deliberate in their sabotage and civil annihilation? Their real purpose, as I see them, is not to save the planet but to destroy it.
I’m not sure about the leaders of Nut Zero, but the followers are complete and total morons.
Very nice Paul. Wind and solar are not a substitute for fossil fuel, hydro and nuclear, they don’t work. Remove government subsidies, tax preferences, environmental forgiveness, mandates and wind and solar will be out of business tomorrow. It is that simple.
The true cost is even higher. £25bn is being diverted from the productive economy to make electricity generation less efficient and more expensive. The long term impact on the economy must be huge.
