Climate Professor Thinks We Should ‘Cull’ the Human Population to Reach Emissions Targets

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

h/t Dave Ward

Professor Bill McGuire is a well-known vulcanologist and climate scientist who doesn’t care much for humanity. He tweeted out a scathingly brilliant idea if you’re in the mortuary business or work as a grave digger.

.

Ooopsie. McGuire deleted the tweet a few hours later but had no regrets. The trouble is, we just don’t understand how brilliant he is.

This MUST happen to have any chance of sidestepping dangerous, all-pervasive, climate breakdown.” 12:26 PM · May 12, 2024

I would love to hear how McGuire plans to convince, persuade, coerce China, India, etc. to stop building new coal fired power plants. Followed by his plans to convince these same countries to shut down the ones they have.

At the same time, please produce a rigorous plan to show how many windmills, solar farms, acres needed, and placement of acres we need to eliminate fossil fuels in the US. The plan must assume that current energy usage remains the same and then grows with GDP growth. Reliability must remain at current levels. Also show miles and placement of additional transmission lines, charging stations etc. Include all costs associated with this change, amount and source of raw materials needed, cost of production, transportation, etc of all raw and finished goods. Include all costs, sources and uses of funds etc.

Please then explain why adaptation to a potential warming of the climate is not a better strategy.

Reply to  Bill S
May 15, 2024 4:50 am

Also explain how all the coal, oil and gas used to source materials, fabricate, transport, erect, maintain, demolish, and transport to landfills of all those worse-than-useless windmills and solar panels, plus all the coal, oil and gas used to provide backup power for the 70-80% of the time wind and solar produce nothing or produce too little, is probably pretty much the same as it is using the coal, oil and gas directly to provide our energy needs more reliably and more affordably.

Culling has entered the climate alarmist lexicon and this is truly frightening. Carbon footprint reduction is being viewed favorably and GDP growth is not. Steps are being taken to put farmers out of business. The push for war is replacing the desire for peace. Alarmists are not pushing for adaption. They are pushing for avoidance and that strategy is being used to suggest, if not justify, the horrific.

To honestly re-phase McGuire; he did not outright say that bad things would happen is 5-1/2 years.

He simply says that, if we cut our arm off in the next 5.5 years, then we will have a better chance of not breaking & getting gangrene & dying because of it, in the future and throughout our remaining lifetimes.

So what is this so-called “climate breakdown”, exactly? How does the climate “break”? When in the past has the climate ever “broken”?

Yes, there have been cataclysmic events like the asteroid impact and the vulcanism of the Deccan Traps that led to very fast but temporary changes in climate, but even so the climate returned to norm, as it always does. Nobody has ever demonstrated how burning fossil fuels could create a cataclysmic event equivalent to the asteroid impact (equivalent to billions of thermonuclear devices going off instantly at one location) or the hundreds of thousands of years of elevated vulcanism of the Deccan Traps.

Reply to  Duane

“So what is this so-called “climate breakdown”, exactly?”

It’s scaremongering/delusional thinking.

Someone who thinks like Professor Bill McGuire should go seek mental therapy if he hasn’t already done so.

Imagine believing the Earth is in a “climate breakdown”. The stress must be enormous.

Wouldn’t McGuire be surprised if CO2 had nothing at all to do with the current warming? He should look at clouds from both sides now. I wonder if he would be relieved if he found out he had been wrong about the climate all this time; that there is no “climate breakdown” caused by CO2?

Bill, it appears that a reduction in cloud cover can account for all the warming since the 1980’s (CERES). CO2 has very little to do with it. See, you have been worrying yourself sick for no good reason. You need to study “the science” a little more to relieve your mental anguish.

Then, you can start obssessing over clouds, if you are inclined that way.

Duane
May 15, 2024 4:06 am

So how about a little circular logic here from this dude:

The world is headed towards a “climate breakdown” that could conceivably cause the deaths of billions of humans.

So the only way to avoid that cataclysm is to suffer another cataclysm that causes the deaths of billions of humans.

Right … got it.
