Hypocrite Khan’s Airmiles

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

By Paul Homewood

h/t Ian Magness

Sadiq Khan, his deputies and officials have racked up more than 430,000 air miles since he was first elected London Mayor in 2016, analysis shows.

The Labour politician, who has positioned himself as a champion of environmental causes, attracted condemnation yesterday as he flew to the US for a climate summit.

He is expected to use the trip to promote his Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez), which he claims will reduce deaths caused by air pollution, after expanding the scheme last month.

He flew to New York with five aides to attend the UN General Assembly and take part in the Climate Ambition Summit and is also due to appear alongside Prince William at the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.

Mr Khan is flying despite repeatedly saying he wants to clean up the air, and analysis shows his latest trip has sent the number of air miles clocked up by him and his team to 430,000.

That is enough to fly around the world 17 times and is estimated to have pumped out 200 tons of carbon into the atmosphere.

The latest New York trip alone will account for 41,412 of the air miles total, when all six attendees and both legs of the journey are taken into account.

It comes after Mr Khan’s ‘Night Tsar’ Amy Lame – tasked with helping London’s nighttime economy thrive – jetted off to Sydney, adding a further 21,146 miles to the total. She attended the Neon international nighttime economy forum in May.

Mr Khan faced criticism for a five-day trip to the US in May last year in which he was seen schmoozing with James Corden on a rooftop terrace bar in Los Angeles after visiting a cannabis factory.

There is no way I’m going to treat CO2 as even a problem, unless those who are claiming that it is a crisis, start living their own lives as if they believe their own words.

“Comrade Commissar Khan, according to your belief, how many people have died as a result of your “polluting travel”, or are you a disciple of your idol Stalin who said “One death is a tragedy, one millions deaths are a statistic? Are you going to – personally – compensate the victims of your travel”

Ahhhh so THAT is what the ULEZ charge is for….

The trees in London will be delighted that he has provided them with an additional 200 tons of carbon. ( I take it that the quote means carbon dioxide. )

No they won’t be enjoying the CO₂ – not in the least.
The trees will be saddened beyond belief that they’ve been deprived of a lot of (water soluble) Nitrogen and also Sulphur

They’ll also be missing Iron from disc brakes not least and the powdered ambrosia that is= rubber tyre dust (more Sulphur)
Then fungi break down the rubber into what is effectively= Sugar. Saves them having to make their own.
Also the smoke and soot which massively helped the soil bacteria they depend upon.
Also the ‘escaped’ and unburned fuel. (Petrol & diesel)
These being Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which work to clean the air of ground-level Ozone – which we all know (or we damn well should know) is caused by sunlight acting upon ordinary Oxygen.
The trees are thus required to make more of their own VOCs – leaving less food/energy/resource available for making ‘tree’

The ULEZ is an absolute disaster for all plant & bacterial life within the zone.

Actually, I would like to offer my deepest apology to all bus drivers. Suggesting Khan had brains and ability to drive a bus was impugning the good standard of London bus drivers. The very idea someone that can perform the miracles they do in Khans obstacle course road system of modern London, should have informed me. Khan could never be and is not that clever or capable, of doing anything as honest as bus driving..
The fact he was a lawyer explains everything.

A former constituent of Khan writes…

Khan – a sociopathic narcissist – loves strutting his self-righteous stuff. The man who lies*, foments religious hatred against Ahmadis** and sees structural racism in everything, is in his element.

*
“Labour MPs Sadiq Khan and Martin Linton have been slammed as hypocrites after they voted for the closure of post offices to go ahead – despite campaigning to keep their local branches open.”
https://www.wandsworthguardian.co.uk/news/2135093.mps-hypocrites-over-post-office-closures/

As a government whip, Khan forced Labour MPs to vote for the closures. After the vote Khan jumped in a car to race back to Tooting to join a demonstration against… those post office closures. He came within a whisker of losing his seat. What saved him? The Sunni faithful.

**
An election hustings at the Tooting Islamic Centre (TIC) on April 14 turned into a dangerous farce after hardliners shut down proceedings.

After arriving at the TIC, mixed-race Tory candidate Mark Clarke had to be locked into a room for his own safety after he was mistaken for Mr Butt by fundamentalists.

Mr Clarke’s election agent, Andre Walker, said: “We had to be locked in a room for our own security. The mosque committee were embarrassed by it and it was tense for a while…it was clear Nasser’s arrival would have been dangerous and a real problem. There was anger an Ahmadi was running.”

During the incident, Mr Butt said he received a phone call from a committee member who told him it would be best if he did not come to speak as had been arranged.

Mr Khan told this paper last week he was not aware of the incident until days later and did not know about the pair being locked in a room.”

Of course he didn’t.

Yesterday morning I gave my better half a lift to the tube. The Northern (aka Misery) Line was down in part with a signal failure. Ok I said and set off for Brixton tube station which was a bit of a dog leg but better than loads of traffic. Brixton Hill – once home to film stars! – was closed. So I attempted to go around but got caught in a nightmare maze of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. In the end I gave up. I dropped her off on Brixton Hill a good 15 minute walk away (geddit?)

How does Khan get around town?

YOU MAY ALREADY BE A WHINER.

Keeping up with the post quota is getting harder.:

  1. How many assistants?
  2. Did they fly in the front or back or top of the planes (upgrades don’t count)?
  3. How does this compare to his predecessors?
  4. How does this compare to mayors of other comparable cities?

BFD. As an international rotating petroleum engineer I flew more miles/year than this post averaged in the front and top of major airline aircraft, for over a decade, . Not including bumpy Otter flights into and out of postage stamp conflict area unpaved oilfield landing strips.

Bob, you really do need to take lessons from Nick on how to distract with utter irrelvancies. Nick at least manages to make it look like he knows what he is talking about.

The fact is that they are flying at all.

The more assistants, the worse it is.
Where on the plane that they fly is utterly irrelevant.
Since his predecessors weren’t claiming that they want to save the world from CO2, whether the predecessors flew or not makes no difference in determining what Khan is a flaming hypocrite or not.
Ditto with comparing him to mayors of other cities.

As to whining, nobody takes a back seat to you.

Inescapable for a man in his position.

“The more assistants, the worse it is.”

Also inescapable. Even Jerry Brown, the champ of low bid travel, had at least one helper with him when he traveled as Governor.

“Where on the plane that they fly is utterly irrelevant.”

Wut? I’m sorry that you can’t discern the difference in per passenger effective carbon use between eco, eco+, biz, 1st. Bigger seats, more baggage, more food and drink, more attendants/ticket. Treat yourself before you assume room temp and you will. It was mandatory for us oilfield trashers (I don’t know why).

I noticed that you have no answers to the relevant questions I posed. Why am I not surprised….?

It isn’t inescapable. Teleconferencing has been available for decades.

If he doesn’t fly, he doesn’t need to take any assistants with him.

If he doesn’t fly, it doesn’t matter where on the plane he isn’t sitting.

If he doesn’t fly, it doesn’t matter how long the flight he isn’t on is.

Since I refuted your claims, answering any parenthetical questions became unnecessary.

What I still notice is how desperate you are to excuse the bad behavior of Khan.

Everyone of your excuses is, as usual, utterly pathetic. I’d ask if you are ashamed of yourself, but I doubt that is possible.

The article is deliberately conflating two different things to try and generate controversy (but hey it is the Daily Mail and that is its job). The Ultra Low Emission Zone sets limits on the amount of NOx and CO that can be emitted by your car and does not set any limits on the amount of CO2 you produce. Furthermore given that planes spent most of their time at a considerable height most of the NOx or CO they produce will not impact the health of anyone. Sadiq Khan may be a hypocrite for complaining about CO2 emissions while racking up the air miles but that is completely different to worrying about NOx emissions which cause immediate harm to people and children living in London.
