Watch: UN Chief claims fossil fuels are ‘incompatible with human survival’

António Guterres lashed out at the fossil fuels industry following a meeting with civil society groups, the Associated Press reported. The industry, he said, is “trading the future” for money. Guterres urged them to move “away from a product incompatible with human survival.” “The problem is not simply fossil fuel emissions… It’s fossil fuels – period,” he said.

By Addison Smith

The United Nations secretary-general didn’t mince words when addressing how he feels about the oil and gas industry this week.

António Guterres lashed out at the fossil fuels industry following a meeting with civil society groups, the Associated Press reported. The industry, he said, is “trading the future” for money. Guterres urged them to move “away from a product incompatible with human survival.”

“The problem is not simply fossil fuel emissions… It’s fossil fuels – period,” he continued said.

Despite Guterres’ passionate rebuke of fossil fuel usage, the United Nations reportedly owns an entire fleet of aircraft, and is known for hosting a lavish annual climate summit that draws as many as 400 private jets, according to Breitbart News.

UN chief says fossil fuels ‘incompatible with human survival,’ calls for credible exit strategy

BERLIN (AP) — The head of the United Nations launched a tirade against fossil fuel companies Thursday, accusing them of betraying future generations and undermining efforts to phase out a product he called “incompatible with human survival.” …

Guterres called on the industry to put forward a credible plan for shifting to clean energy “and away from a product incompatible with human survival.”

“The problem is not simply fossil fuel emissions,” Guterres said, a nod to recent comments made by Sultan al-Jaber, the United Arab Emirates official who will lead the next U.N. climate summit. “It’s fossil fuels – period.”

Oh. By ‘west’, do you mean all the governments, including the US, that have arbitrarily, and in the absence of any scientific evidence, set forth to dismantle their entire fossil fuel and nuclear energy infrastructure? How did Russia do that given that these same governments are currently waging a hot war against Russia?

Russia, and before it, the Soviet Union have been funding the groups that have been pushing the dismantling of western economies. It isn’t just the global warming nonsense, but it’s also the idiots who want the government to provide free stuff and to ban any form of social organization that actually works.

PS, nobody is waging a hot war against Russia, unless you think that opposing Russian aggression is a form of hot war against Russia.

After the collapse of the USSR, membership in and support for radical environmental NGOs vastly increased because all other aspects of the Marxist narrative took a big hit, at least temporarily.

As for Russia supposedly attempting to destabilize the West, how is that any different from, or less moral than, the many ‘color revolutions’ that our deep state has perpetrated during our adult lives.

China used about 4.2 BILLION METRIC TON of coal in 2022, and has plans to burn more.

India used about 1.4 BILLION METRIC TON of coal in 2022, and has plans to burn much more.

The whole world used more them 8 BILLION METRIC TON in 2022.

That coal provides low-cost electricity these countries need to feed, house and clothe their people

Gutteres likely has no idea there are literally a 100,000 everyday products that could not be made without having fossil fuels, such as car tires and asphalt roads

Growing the crops to feed 8 BILLION PEOPLE CANNOT BE DONE WITHOUT FERTILIZERS made from natural gas

Either he does not know, which is highly unlikely, or he does know, but prefers to lie through teeth and scare-monger, just to stay in the good graces of the super nut farts.

Does António Guterres have a backup plan to replace the more than 6,000 products for society, as well as manufacturing the fuels for 50,000 jets moving people and products, and more than 50,000 merchant ships for global trade flows, and the military and space programs that are all based on derivatives manufacture from crude oil?

If Antonio has the answer, he should share it with the world, as 8 billion people are populating the world (including Antonio) based upon what is manufactured from crude oil.

Not just an idiot. He is also a liar.
He has stated that more people are being killed by extreme weather.
Of course, that’s a completely provable lie.
As shown by the Emdat database, over the last 100 years deaths from extreme weather have dramatically fallen. Today these deaths are at a historical low. Ironically this database is used – and misused – by the UN itself.
Sadly it’s almost impossible to fight these lies, because few people – particularly the media – are listening to the sceptics.

One can only imagine what uncivil hysteria and demagoguery was going on in those meetings with “civil society groups”, where they plan to wipe out civilization in the name of civil society.

“trading the your future for money” sounds exactly what António Guterres made in those back room meetings.

“product incompatible with human survival” like diesel fuel to run generators or power heavy equipment; or like fertilizers, medicines and plastics. Should we store and transport all food in paper bags and glass/metal jars? When hurricanes or other natural disasters strike, the most important thing to survival at that point is fossil fuels.

“its fossil fuels – period” Then pray tell, why has the greatest grown in human flourishing all happened under the umbrella of fossil fuel energy dominance? Or is that really the problem? Too much human flourishing?

Finding this kind of reckless statement and foolishness is pretty easy, I can go down to a homeless camp and find the nearest junkie, or poll the danger haired “teachers” in a government school to get this kind of “wisdom”.

What are we paying this clown to do? To advocate mass genocide and global famine? Granted, this is all on brand for the UN.

“Too much human flourishing?”
Even that premise has been proven wrong. Despite Erhlich’s or Holdren’s wild predictions, it turns out that the developed countries (i.e. those that took advantage of fossil fuels) have a negative population growth.

To me the obvious solution to a fear of “overpopulation” is to defuse that bomb by giving the 3rd world access to fossil fuels. (Nuclear would also work, but that is also a NO-NO by these alarmist jerks.)

The UN is a useless organization run by intending Communists and it should be de funded before they wreck the world ..
If the world needs less population the only way forward is for poor countries to lift their standard of living through the use of fossil fuels and their birthrate will drop.
Just look around the world and all countries with plenty of affordable energy have negative birth rates as that is what lifts countries out of poverty .
The only problem with fossil fuels is in the heads of these globalist elites .

In other news:

China has delivered its first smart floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) with land-sea integrated operation system, marking a breakthrough in the country’s application of the digital twin technology. The offshore oil and gas FPSO with a storage capacity of 100,000 tons is the first of its kind in China and employs diverse cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), edge computing, cloud computing, big data and the internet of things (IoT). The ship can process oil and gas on the sea thus eliminating the need for piping from offshore rigs to onshore factories.

So while António Guterres is angling to up his social credit score, China is going whole hog into investing even deeper into this “incompatible with human survival” quest to “trade the future for money”.

I would certainly like to know how Mr. Gutterres imagines the Industrial Revolution—with all its manifold benefits to advancing mankind’s knowledge, health, welfare and population growth—could have occurred without use of fossil fuels.

There is no way this works out well for those of us that value our liberty. I know that sounds old school 🌽 ey but it is not that complicated. I don’t know how we catch up now. Just the inflation alone caused by decoupling from China at this point would be difficult for any political party to sell to the public.

It is past the time when people like the UN Gen’l Secretary and others who speak in similar terms about ceasing the use of fossil fuels be told they must live their lives without fossil fuels and any product derived from them. They should be told to live as if it were the early 1800’s, and see just how much they like it.

June 18, 2023 10:07 am

As far as I can tell, the UN really doesn’t DO anything, except for a few visible activities:

  • Running the IPCC
  • Making a lot of noise about a “climate crisis”
  • Regularly passing yet another resolution condemning Israel for existing

I forgot about the peacekeeping, some of which has actually done a bit of good (e.g. Cyprus), others not so much (e.g. Rwanda)

Well, the UN also consumes substantial annual funding from the USA:

“The U.S. government contributed about $12.5 billion to the United Nations in 2021, the most recent fiscal year with full data available. About one-quarter of this total was assessed and the rest was voluntary.”https://www.cfr.org/article/funding-united-nations-what-impact-do-us-contributions-have-un-agencies-and-programs

So he’d prefer to return to the days when Europe was denuded of forests because they had all been cut down for firewood?

So why are all these anti-human pieces of sh#t using fossil fuels? Every single thing they eat, drink, and wear come to them because of fossil fuels, all the medical equipment and pharmaceuticals are derived from fossil fuels, their private jets and limos, their smartphones and computers. Their entire lives are dependent on fossil fuels.

Who are these “Civil Society Groups” he’s meeting with? They are certainly not those parading in our streets these days. Martin Luther King and Gandhi were civil and intelligent and most successful. Maybe the miserable, loud, destructive, mindless hordes and their handlers should give civil and intelligent a try.

Actually, all evidence shows humans and fossil fuels are extremely compatible.
Human population was was a flat line for thousands of years then shot up 8x since the oil age began.

Which of course is the real problem. Fossil fuels enable the real carbon infestation the climate/insane abhor.
Therefore they must go.

Some of that population decline was from the Bubonic plague, starting in the 14th Century. Europe lost 1/4 to 1/3 of its population, depending on the region. Population didn’t get to pre-plague numbers until the 1700’s. Between 1500 – 1700 80% of South America was wiped out from diseases the Spanish & other Europeans brought with them that the South Americans had no immunity to.

At the end of each speech these functional morons give regarding anything, including “climate…”, fossil fuels, etc., I expect to see the ending of the Looney Tunes cartoons of my childhood. Guiterres even sorta resembles Porky Pig. Serious problem taking them seriously when they are still reaping the benefits of their self-proclaimed dire warnings.
Maybe its just me.

There is a very simple solution to this cesspool. Disconnect the UN building from the grid. I am fed up with these crackpots. The US must get out of the UN and the UN must get out of the US. Their time has past, they are a corrupt, dishonest and criminal organization.

The simplest way to make any sense of the inane utterances of a warmista, is to realize every single word they say is the exact opposite of what the truth is.

António Guterres claims that oil and gas is incompatible with human survival. It’s more correct to say that António Guterres is incompatible with human survival. What is our exit plan to remove this demented megalomaniac from office?

June 18, 2023 1:03 pm

A certain sign of desperation.

The west expected to roll over Russia, destroy it, and break it up using sanctions for the activities in Ukraine which the west provoked over many years.

It’s the west that’s driving for a one world government using climate change as cover and the UN as its attack dog. Europe and America have been opened up to undocumented, borderless immigration, their utopian integrated world. This has been a long time in planning.

130+ countries wanting to join BRICS don’t like this idea, including Russia and China which value their national identities, and all refuse to condemn Russia for its intervention in Ukraine. They refuse to accept undocumented immigrants flooding over their borders, evidence that they aren’t interested in globalisation.

As for any suggestion that either country is attempting to destroy western nations financially, why would they bother? We are doing it to ourselves quite successfully by deindustrialising ourselves with crippling green policies like NetZero and offshoring all our industry to China which doesn’t give a monkeys about CO2.

In short, the attack dog has been employed to broadcast fantastic stories of climate doom to garner support amongst the great unwashed and keep failing governments in Germany, the UK, the US, France etc. from going under.

But they know it’s too late.

Russia invading a neighbor for the third time in 20 years was all part of a diabolical plot on the part of the west to destroy Russia?

You neglect the role Russia has played in funding the groups that are pushing the global warming and social justice nonsense.

I was wondering when Guterres would be launching his latest “all is lost unless” proclamation, but he like the rest of the alarmists still haven’t realized that renewables like wind and solar are nowhere near capable of supplanting fossil fuels. Evidently being clueless is what’s necessary to rise in UN ranks. As for Kamala Harris, she hasn’t realized that youth aren’t losing much sleep over the climate “crisis” because, like most of the population, they don’t see one; yet she believes if government officialsw babble away long enough about one, people will start believing it actually exists.

WSJ
CANNES, France—Marketing gone awry recently cost Bud Light its long-held crown as America’s bestselling beer.
But the brand’s owner, Anheuser-Busch InBev, was here at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity—a lavish annual gathering in the south of France, often called the Oscars of the ad industry—collecting one of the event’s highest honors: Creative Marketer of the Year.

In the wake of that controversy, across the Atlantic on Monday, AB InBev’s global chief marketing officer, Marcel Marcondes, took to the Cannes Lions’ main stage to give the event’s opening seminar. The session was described in programming notes as a talk in part about AB InBev’s “relentless focus on connecting with consumers in meaningful ways.” Marcondes also touched briefly on the Bud Light situation stateside.

The awards body, which is owned by London-based Ascential Events, announced AB InBev’s back-to-back win in March, months ahead of the Cannes Lions festival itself and just before attention around Bud Light’s work with Mulvaney began to swirl.
“The award recognises AB InBev’s sustained creative excellence that has driven sustainable business growth—as well as their body of Lion-winning work amassed over a sustained period of time, and reputation for producing brave creative and innovative marketing solutions,” Cannes Lions said in a statement released in March.

This article and the linked AP story keep using the term “civil society groups.” What is a “civil society group,” and who were these “groups” with whom Guterres was meeting?

I looked it up and found a World Economic Forum (WEF) (Boo! Hiss!) article which says, “According to the World Bank: “Civil society … refers to a wide array of organizations: community groups, non-governmental organizations [NGOs], labour unions, indigenous groups, charitable organizations, faith-based organizations, professional associations, and foundations.””

In other words, Marxist, left-wing lunatic activists and climate loons. That alone disqualifies the UN and Guterres. It is time we defund and disband the lot of them.

“The problem is not simply fossil fuel emissions… It’s fossil fuels – period,” he said.

Apart from CO2 emissions, how are fossil fuels a serious problem? That doesn’t make sense. Does the UN believe that having civilized societies that live longer, are well fed, educated, and prosperous is a negative thing? Then the UN is NOT on the side of the people. They want us dead.

Maybe this guy needs to check out his job description and the purpose of the UN
https://www.un.org/en/about-us/un-charter/chapter-1

I’m sure that the people of Ukraine would welcome some help in maintaining international peace and likewise quite a few African nations could do with some humanatarium support.

He is currently operationg well outside of his remit (and clearly his abilities).
The UN, WHO and other like them should be focussing on their “Purpose and Priciples” rather than jumping on the bandwagon of Cults!

Change the title this way : UN Chief is ‘incompatible with human survival’ If you cut off fossil fuels as he wants transportation will come to a screeching halt. people won’t be able to get to their jobs, or to the grocery store. Trucks that deliver groceries to the stores wont be delivering groceries so the shelves will be empty. Half of US homes are heated by fossil fuels so people will freeze in their homes. 60% of US electricity is produced from fossil fuels so switching to electricity won’t work either.
