The World Economic Forum & Corporations Are Coming for Your Cars – WEF & VISA ‘briefing paper’ seeks 75% reduction in cars globally by 2050

From Climate Depot

Wall Street Journal: The goal is buried in a briefing paper released last month called “The Urban Mobility Scorecard Tool: Benchmarking the Transition to Sustainable Urban Mobility.” It points out that more than two-thirds of the world’s population will be urban by 2050. If we are to meet their needs and achieve the climate goals of the Paris Agreement, the report recommends “electrification, public transport and shared mobility.”

This will mean a lot fewer cars: “Reduce vehicles from a potential 2.1 billion to 0.5 billion.” That is a radical drop with fewer than 30 years to do it. But this, it says, “could slash emissions from passenger vehicles by 80% compared to a business-as-usual scenario—reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by 3.9 billion tons a year.”

World Economic Forum’s May 2023 Global New Mobility Coalition ‘briefing paper’ “in collaboration with Visa” – The forward was co-written by Douglas Sabo, the Chief Sustainability Officer with Visa and the WEF’s Jeff Merritt who is the “Head of Urban Transformation” at WEF.

If the World Economic Forum (WEF) has its way, the number of cars around the world will be reduced by 75% by 2050. How ironic that the denizens of Davos who spend much of their lives being chauffeured back and forth from international conferences hate cars.

The goal is buried in a briefing paper released last month called “The Urban Mobility Scorecard Tool: Benchmarking the Transition to Sustainable Urban Mobility.” It points out that more than two-thirds of the world’s population will be urban by 2050. If we are to meet their needs and achieve the climate goals of the Paris Agreement, the report recommends “electrification, public transport and shared mobility.”

Background:

Watch: Morano on Fox News on climate flight bans: ‘You will go nowhere & be happy’ – ‘Flying is going to be a venue only for the rich’ & they are ‘intentionally creating car shortages’ – ’15-minute cities’ like E. Germany

Great Car Reset – Planned Vehicle Rationing Underway: California to Ban the Sale of New Gasoline Cars – All Electric by 2035 – 12 other states set to follow

Watch: Morano explains the electric car mandate folly

Watch: Morano on Rebel TV: Net Zero/Great Reset agenda seeks ‘to intentionally collapse our energy system…a war on car ownership…collapsing our current agriculture & food systems’ & force us to ‘eat synthetic, fake meat’

Great Car Reset is working! ‘Cars soon unaffordable for 50% of Germans’

Great Car Reset: Biden’s EPA to release strict new fed emissions standard to ‘move U.S. car market decisively toward electric vehicles’ – ‘Up to 2/3’ of cars sold mandated to be EV by 2032

CNN: The US Environmental Protection Agency is preparing to release strict new proposed federal emissions standards for light-duty vehicles that, if implemented, would move the US car market decisively toward electric vehicles over the next decade. The EPA is considering emissions standards that could make up to two-thirds of new passenger vehicles sold in the US electric by 2032, according to a source familiar with the proposal. If implemented, the new greenhouse gas performance standards would start for light-duty vehicles that are model year 2027 and gradually increase through model year 2032. By 2032, the rules would ensure that 64% to 67% of all new-car sales in the US would be electric vehicles, according to the source

#

The Great Car Reset has arrived: Our transportation system is being intentionally collapsed; (and our freedom of movement is being stripped away) EVs to be forced upon YOU without a vote!

Marc Morano: This is the planned rationing of vehicles. The planned rationing of American cars. That’s the only way this plan makes sense … the only result is going to be shortages of cars and a completely altered used car market. You can look to Cuba to find out what it’s like to have a raging used car market because that’s what we’re looking at here. And you can look to old East Germany. East Germany had their famed Trabant car, where people would have to get on waiting lists for years to get one and that’s what we’re faced with here when the government is going to mandate you can only buy a new electric car. … An Australian bank is announcing it’s not going to give financing for loans to anyone buying a gas-powered car. The World Bank has now announced it wants to set a timetable to stop the funding for — even at the automaker level for gas-powered cars. The powers that be, the corporate world, the bankers, the governments, academia — they’ve decided that gas-powered cars are over and they’re putting all the forces into play to end it without our say in it.

And if you somehow avoid the gas car bans, they will make obtaining gas for it a nightmare! See:Gas Station Bans Next on Climate Agenda: Colorado city BANS new gas stations due to ‘obligation’ to tackle ‘climate change’ – Follows California cities)&  All the while, China is laughing at us. See: (Net Zero’s Global Winner is — China! ‘US hasn’t noticed yet that China-Made cars are taking over the world’ – Poised to become No. 2 exporter of cars, surpassing US & S. Korea)

Watch: Morano OAN TV on Biden EPA’s EV mandates: ‘This is mandating car shortages for Americans’ to ‘force people into public transit’

Morano excerpt: “This is mandating car shortages for Americans…with the design of forcing more people into public transit. You will go nowhere and be happy. … Once we don’t have the freedom of movement in America that we have grown accustomed to, they will be able to put all sorts of other mandates on you as well. They are making gas-powered cars statutorily extinct…creating radical chaos and car shortages.” …

Biden’s EPA Chief Micheal Regan: “Together, today’s actions will accelerate our ongoing transition to a clean vehicles future, tackle the climate crisis head on…”

Morano: “It is easier to transition your gender than it is your energy, particularly on the energy timescales they’re talking about. So if you think it’s impossible for a man to have a baby, well, then it’s equally impossible to have solar and wind power our entire economy. That’s the kind of delusion we’re living in right now.”

American Energy Alliance “Today, less than 6% of cars are electric, despite years of generous tax credits…The EPA rule is an attempt to accelerate the number of electric vehicle sales to 67% by 2032.”

U.S. automaker Group Urges EPA to ‘Ease Up’ on Vehicle Emissions Rules Due to Mandates Benefiting China

Alliance for Automotive Innovation CEO John Bozzella said Monday in a blog post the “EPA should ease up and reassess this rule before it helps cement China’s place in the U.S. auto market.” He predicted that if the EPA regulations are too tough, China will gain “a stronger foothold in America’s electric vehicle battery supply chain and eventually our automotive market.”

Alarming drop in mining derails drive for Net Zero – Green transition will take 6 times mineral output world is producing now

The 38th edition of the World Mining Data report, published annually by the Austrian government, finds that mining production is not meeting the hopes of governments working to increase their own domestic and friendly sources of minerals. Rather, production has roughly plateaued, with the sector yet to match the peak production of 18 billion metric tons achieved in 2019. Far from growing our outputs, we’re struggling to maintain them.

As soon as they mandated a move away from a (reasonably) plentiful fuel supply to less plentiful materials for the batteries, this reduction was on the cards. Fewer cars, less road congestion and maintenance, less road deaths, less choice, less freedom, less everything.

Marc Morano is mostly right. The rationing of personal car use in big cities like London has been underway for many years now. It IS necessary in some way unless everybody wants to feel like they are living in Bangkok without the happy endings.

It is a real problem when so many humans live in such densely-packed cities with inadequate transport of any kind, even the rich. (You’ll have to be rich enough to bribe your way into the helicopter club).

The real issues arise when do-goody politicians want to transfer big-city solutions to everyone else in the world. They want to have humans living without personal transport options of any and every kind that is not approved them.

Shove more and more people into a smaller and smaller area, control the rural landscape and enforce a lockdown within the urban area. A very disturbing dystopian future (or not so distant now).

We have had a congestion charge zone in central London wheereysince the eighties it was obvious that you would need to be brain damaged to want to drive as. A car in central London the present ban comprises all the suburbs with about 20 million people losing travel functionality. The agenda is of course control. It may well be worse in Eastasia and Eurasia but Ingsoc will make it bloody awful for us in Airstrip 1
Good time for rats though

Fine. Meet the needs of the urban population. But this obsession with “climate goals” is destructive.

Get a grip. CO2 from beneficial use of natural hydrocarbons as fuel is not capable of causing heat energy to accumulate down here on land and in the oceans to harmful effect.

Watch from space to grasp this point, and lose the fear of what non-condensing GHGs do in the atmosphere.

The car companies will continue to make vehicles, but they will be owned by governments and operated by contractors. When you want to travel somewhere, you will make a request to the contractor, describing when, where, what, who, and why. The contractor will check with the govt AI, and they will assign you a travel itinerary, based on your need and any other characteristics the govt deems to be important.

And, of course, you will be billed for the trip based on your income and wealth.

“‘Say goodbye to the US car market as we know it: Cheap Chinese EVs are coming’”
Cheap? How cheap? What some people consider cheap is a ton of money to many people. Let’s not forget that home prices are rising fast along with all energy, food, medical costs, etc. Driving people into poverty makes them angry and rebellious. This is not looking good for a peaceful society. Here in Woke-achusetts, you can’t find a house for under $300K that isn’t falling down. Property taxes are extremely high. I have a modest ranch house- the annual property tax is $6,000- peanuts for some people- a lot for someone living on social insecurity. Good thing we grow much of our own food on our large garden. Young families without at least one very high paying professional job- are screwed- priced out of homes, cars, insurance. If the educated professional classes don’t resist this climate religion, these younger families sure will- just to live. Their “betters” won’t mind- they can afford all this idiocy.

The WEF has officially come out of the closet and ensconced itself in businesses and governments throughout the world. The WEF has even had official representatives in UN sponsored events for countries. “You’ll own nothing and be happy” is their mantra. People will quickly realize that the WEF goal isn’t to raise everyone’s lifestyle but rather reduce lifestyles to the lowest common denominator in the name of equality. They control corporations by blackmailing them into cooperation by threatening to withhold their operating capital. It’s a gang in a business suit.

WEF forgot this. At the rate their regressive social policies are gripping U.S. cities, by 2050 there will be nobody left in stinkholes like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago or NYC except the poor, homeless, druggies or the insane. Of course, that is probably their intention all along. A feature, not a bug.

Reduce cars from a potential 2.1bn to 0.5bn “could reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by 3.9bn tons a year.”

Yet the IEA tell us that in 2022 75% of emissions came from the energy sector and amounted to 38.6bn tonnes of CO2 and that much of those emissions came from China, India and the rest of Asia where coal use is growing at pace.

Do the WEF publish their rubbish in Asia?

The Yankee love affair with automobiles may have cooled somewhat with generational culture change but in many ways it’s still evident. Commuters grouse about their agonizing trips to work and back but the reality is for most normal people employed in mundane, meaningless and soul-crushing jobs their highway adventures are the most exciting part of their day. No boss, no kids, listen to what they want on the radio, gossip on the phone with friends, a twice daily mini-vacation that includes some risk and the opportunity to anonymously get the advantage of total strangers. Public transport would put them in close proximity to unwashed creepy strangers, presently a big problem in Asia. Taking cars off the road would make millions truly unhappy and shouldn’t maximum happiness be a central goal of any form of government?
