How the media are misleading the public: Five climate impacts, a short Mail & Guardian video (Nov 1, 2022) states Climate change is already having an impact in southern Africa
They list five areas to “prove” climate is a problem
Flooding in KwaZulu-Natal with 448 deaths in 2022
Cape Town hitting 45.2C in June
Jacarandas flowering earlier
Air temperatures/drought in the Kalahari Desert affecting southern hornbills
African wild dogs are giving birth 22 days later
These are misleading and littered with errors.
In 1987 there was flooding in the same province with 506 deaths. Flooding is not unusual and Mozambique up the coast has more floods.
This happened in January. It appears the UHI effect contributed from where it was measured.
The earlier flowering of Jacarandas is no big deal and there is usually no frost at this time.
This is nonsense as the rainfall is variable from year to year and breeding extends over the whole summer.
African wild dogs are essentially to be found in the Kruger National Park where the early winter minimums are between 15 and 10C with warm days so no problem for pups.
This is the kind of garbage that is going to be fed to the COP27 delegates.
How does deforestation affect climate change?Trees and plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. When they’re cut down, burned or left to rot, the carbon dioxide they store is released into the air and this contributes to something called global warming.
We are in the age of the University of the Internet?
I used to be a Physics Undergrad in London, 1978.
Over the years I’ve been particularly confused by Climate Science claims that never quite seemed to make mechanical sense or ‘bottom out’ so had a go at thinking it through for myself.
These days the Lapse Rate intrigues me and Google recently brought me here and I saw that I had commented on an Open Thread 6 years ago, pretty confused. Nicholas Schroeder had made a quiet and patient reply to my slightly lary questions.
These days I at least feel much more ‘with it’ a propos climate issues thanks to pages like this. So thanks everyone for pitching in, and in particular to Anthony Watts for allowing such open-minded discussions to happen.

The first generation afraid of warmth-

May I ask the question, please: When would be published the report “UAH Global Temperature Update for October, 2022: +0.32 deg. C” at WUWT, or would it be published at all to discuss it?

Another strong stratospheric wave will hit the West Coast soon. Maximum power will be needed for heating.

If the sea level is in the process of rising why is this happening? https://nailheadtom.blogspot.com/2022/11/will-sea-overcome-miami.html
Just a ‘thankyou’ !
