Request to readers: Alert us to the best climate change videos and podcasts

We are going to be adding a media section. This section will highlight the best videos and podcasts related to the climate change discussion. While I already have my own personal list that I will include, I want to give readers a chance to weigh in on their favorites. Part of the reason for doing this is that quality climate skeptic videos get suppressed by “woke” search engines. We want to make them easy to find here.

Just a couple of requests:

1. Any video/podcast that looks/sounds like a rant won’t past muster here. For example, one former commenter who routinely claimed to have found “a new paradigm” will be automatically excluded. Along those same lines, anything that claims planetary atmospheric pressure is the cause, or that barycentrism rules, or a host of other “out there” crackpot theories that we have debunked here over the years will automatically get passed over.

2. Any video/podcast that claims “hoax”, “fraud” etc. also won’t do. I want content that discusses the science and the issues factually and rationally without stooping to mudslinging, namecalling, and derogatory commentary. There are plenty of places where these videos and podcasts exist, and some are very popular. Just like global warming aka catastrophic climate change itself is a popular belief, just becuase it is popular, doesn’t mean we should include it.

3. If you submit a video/podcast, be mindful of anything behind paywalls. Also, since the WUWT staff may not have time to fully review each and every one, if you can provide a brief summary, it would be helpful. All we need is a working link and a description.

That’s it. For starters, and as an example of quality content, here is one we will be including:

P.S. We may include a category that is comedy/satire, so consider that too. Likewise, we may include videos where the presentation is simply flat wrong, but we’ll need the “why” in detail ahead of time. If that happens, it is likely to be a second round effort. Also, don’t try to make sense of the header picture in this post related to any of this. I simply liked the clouds and couldn’t find anything representative that worked any better. – Anthony

The Canadian Climate Discussion Nexus (CDN) publish “backgrounder” videos which are top notch. The following are just two, which are well worth watching.

“How sensitive is the atmosphere”, addressing climate sensitivity:

“Big Trouble in the Tropical Troposphere”, addressing the predicted hotspot and failure to confirm it by observation.

This is a good one, Alex Epstein’s “The moral case for fossil fuels”.
Remarkably it’s a “Talks at Google” video:

My favorite is the one where he mops the floor with Bill McKibben (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_a9RP0J7PA&t=952s). And he has interviews with Steve Koonin, Bjorn Lomborg, Michael Shellenberger and many others.

The IPCC don’t care that the attribution studies they rely on are statistically faulty or fraudulent, that they resurrected the ‘hockey sick’ in AR6 shows that.

I’m not sure whether this qualifies or which category it belongs in, but I suspect that comedy/satire would be closest.

It’s about climate change induced “hotter droughts” killing thousands of Giant Sequoia in California, from Sky news.

It might be an idea to add a list of entered, but non-admitted video’s, and giving the reason. Reasons might vary from ‘not evaluated yet’, ‘of doubtful value’, to ‘a clear rant’, or whatever.

P.S. We may include a category that is comedy/satire, so consider that too.

In my humble opinion, this category should be the main offering.

Does the exclusion of atmospheric pressure being a contributory cause include references to the planet Venus?

The temperature gradient of a vertical column of gas in gravitational field, “the adiabatic lapse rate” is entirely accepted physics, used by meteorologists every day. Sussing out the less-than-informed that think it’s something to do with pressure/compression heating can be mentally painful. Especially when it comes to Venus….

I’d suggest that if at all possible, Closed Captioned versions should be submitted, and if a transcript of the video is available then include the link for that.

Sometimes neither C.C. nor a transcript is available. Don’t ever let that discourage you from submitting good stuff. There are not too many of us that have never heard** a video here on WUWT. That’s the breaks in life for some of us. (I usually get most of what went on in a No C.C./No transcript video from comments. Thanks, commenters! 😁).

One exception: Years ago I went out and bought special headphones just so I could hear a Bob Tisdale video. It didn’t work out so well for me, but I just wanted to hear his voice. I really like and admire his work. Worth the money, BTW.

I have always liked this one about weather cooking: bad weather in the Little Ice Age, things like a meter (3 feet) of hail in Germany, etc. Truly amazing what they experienced back then.

Excellent counter of the lie that we are on uncharted territory with extremes in our current times.

And a friendly reminder that finding a scapegoat for it is of all times. And that being sceptical about that is akin to being guilty, then and now.

Groene Stroom – segment from “Zondag met Lubach”, Dutch humour/satire programme with English subtitles, that covers the absurdities of green electricity, including how greenwashing works, importing woodchips from the US to the Netherlands while claiming it’s green.

Seriously funny, informative and recommended.

Great idea Anthony.

BTW, I love the clouds…don’t we live on a wonderful planet!

Some of the video presentatons to Heartland and various conferences by Bob Carter are classics…perhaps a bit out of date now in some aspects as we have updated data now, but the principles he presents are timeless for debunking the AGW nonsense.

Are you going to classify the videos by topics? Sea level rise, tide gauges vs. satellites, temperature rise, glaciers melting (?), wild weather (not) , etc.? Makes them easier to find if you want info on a particular aspect.

Be careful what you exclude from the Media Section as it could well be the truth. Don’t do what the MSM has done to investigative science.
