Has Climate Change Advocacy Run Its Course? It sure seems so.

Bart Tali writes in WUWT Tips and Notes:

Great article in the WSJ.

“Climate Change Has Run Its Course”

Its descent into social-justice identity politics is the last gasp of a cause that has lost its vitality.

By Steven F. Hayward

Some excerpts:

Climate change is over. No, I’m not saying the climate will not change in the future, or that human influence on the climate is negligible. I mean simply that climate change is no longer a pre-eminent policy issue. All that remains is boilerplate rhetoric from the political class, frivolous nuisance lawsuits, and bureaucratic mandates on behalf of special-interest renewable-energy rent seekers.

Judged by deeds rather than words, most national governments are backing away from forced-marched decarbonization. You can date the arc of climate change as a policy priority from 1988, when highly publicized congressional hearings first elevated the issue, to 2018. President Trump’s ostentatious withdrawal from the Paris Agreement merely ratified a trend long becoming evident.

A good indicator of why climate change as an issue is over can be found early in the text of the Paris Agreement. The “nonbinding” pact declares that climate action must include concern for “gender equality, empowerment of women, and intergenerational equity” as well as “the importance for some of the concept of ‘climate justice.’ ” Another is Sarah Myhre’s address at the most recent meeting of the American Geophysical Union, in which she proclaimed that climate change cannot fully be addressed without also grappling with the misogyny and social injustice that have perpetuated the problem for decades.

The descent of climate change into the abyss of social-justice identity politics represents the last gasp of a cause that has lost its vitality. Climate alarm is like a car alarm—a blaring noise people are tuning out.
Scientists who are genuinely worried about the potential for catastrophic climate change ought to be the most outraged at how the left politicized the issue and how the international policy community narrowed the range of acceptable responses. Treating climate change as a planet-scale problem that could be solved only by an international regulatory scheme transformed the issue into a political creed for committed believers. Causes that live by politics, die by politics.

Archived here: http://archive.is/a6sXH

On a supporting data note, these two Google Trends graphs, for the USA and for the world, show a clear picture of interest on the topic of global warming, or lack thereof. Note the big spike in 2006 from Al Gore’s movie, and the next spike (smaller) in 2009 from ClimateGate. Then, there’s the slow ride into obscurity. “Climate change” as a search topic has grown slightly over the same period, but runs about equal to the global warming topic today.

Or I prefer the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), hiding in the neurons of the sensory ganglia, latent. VZV DNA in the nucleus of those neurons, stochastically expressing Lytic expression which is kept suppressed by sentinel memory T-Cells. Memory T cells gradually wane and go senescent. Pow!!! Shingles. Painful, infectious sores.
Fueling another round of new T cells recruitment and clonal expansion from the naive pool to bring it under control once again.

The current Progressivism Phase we are suffering is certainly analogous to a Herpes outbreak.

When climate change hysteria has finally died out, the Eco-Left will look at its history and realize that it was a great success as a campaign to undermine the industrial West and almost fatally damage Capitalism. They will therefore begin with light hearts to scheme the next great rip-off, backdropped by a similar canard with same script as climate change with a few minor modifications.
The only answer is to reform the universities via remote teaching lectures and turn all the professors loose in the real world to grub for worms and such to eat. And to vigorously attack Socialism based on its murderous and utterly failed track record.

Why not add the cost as a TAX to the price of an elecrtric car? You’ve already made ME PAY at the pump for your idiot bullet train between Visalia and Fresno! And made me PAY an additional Cap & Trade BS cost to my fuel. STOP subsidizing your electric nightmare with MY $$$$.

Spending other people’s money is a way of signaling that the source of the money accepts your leadership and power over them. Spending one’s own money to solve a problem makes one appear a confessor. Pretense of leadership trumps pretense of contrition every time.

I’d rather we didn’t go back to an ice age, I’d far rather we marched onto a world with abundant atmospheric CO2 and no polar ice caps.

But so be it. Lets hope for the worst in order that we get the parasites off our backs.

If the US is stupid enough to elect another Democrat as president before the climate hustle has fully collapsed…we deserve it.

That said, the Electoral College is a piece of absolute brilliance on the part of the Constitutional Framers. If we didn’t have that, the East and Left Coast Liberals would already have turned the US into Venezuela.

Further to reduce the effect of Democrat election fraud, IMO the Constitution should be amended to award Electoral Votes by congressional district, with the statewide winner still getting two extra votes.

This would also mean that candidates could no longer camp out in OH and FL during Octobers.

The Framers didn’t foresee the party system, so that part of the Constitution had to be amended. They envisioned the Electors as respected individuals acting independently, rather than as rubber stamps for their parties’ candidates.

That’s not necessarily a good idea if the hope is to benefit conservatives. It would be beneficial to the Republicans in blue states that have conservative enclaves such as California, New York, Illinois, and New Jersey. But it would probably be equally or more beneficial to the Democrats in red and purple states like Texas, Florida, Missouri, and Arizona, where there are urban congressional districts that would go blue.

Allocation by congressional district is a step toward allocation by popular vote, that is a step toward the elimination of the Electoral College.

McKinsey’s fingerprints can be found at the scene of some of the most spectacular corporate and financial debacles of recent decades. The energy-trading firm Enron was the creation of Jeff Skilling, a proud McKinsey consultant of 21 years. But this wasn’t guilt by association. Enron, under Mr Skilling, was paying McKinsey $10m (£6m) a year for advice. McKinsey fully endorsed the dubious accounting methods that caused the company to implode in 2001.

If LA has decided that it isn’t worth the cost to upgrade their facilities, that’s their decision and their money.
The fact that Britain, which is part of the consortium that paid to build the A380 has also decided to spend the money needed to support them, is hardly surprising.

When the new scientific formula on clean energy discovered or the most difficult scientific question of global hydroelectric answered, It means that we can hope that global warming will be control.
This new hydro power scientific formula (E>P+1at) is the near future of renewable energy in the world and it can solve global warming difficulties!
(Ee>Ep+E1at) = (E>P+1at)
What is the most difficult scientific question of global hydro power that no one scientists could the answer to it?
Now the hard global question!
How can we produce clean energy in a best way by the potential of water Static head in dams & seas that this water pressure can push to the center of planet?
This is by getting benefit of joint scientific formula (E>P+1at) with immersion turbines method inside the water of dams & seas (Immersion turbines of series and parallel in zero point of opposite forces).
Ee= High pressure clean energy that is produced by the water power plants in the depth of water via released fixed potential energy of water natural pressure (More than ten meters of water) with new method (Immersion turbines of series and parallel in zero point of opposite forces).
Ep= Released fixed potential energy of water natural pressure in water depth (More than ten meters of water).
E1at= Amount of energy that is consumed at a small pump of one atmosphere power is the ability (In the same place of the water power plant in water depth).
Many scientists believe that the discovery of the formula is unparalleled. Although many still in shock! How this formula has not be discovered by scientists in the world. Answer to a hard question that scientists are searching for hundreds of years and they can control of climate change and stop global warming.
My new formula and new method can change the world and start a new industrial revolution soon.
This invention is patented in Department of Justice in Kurdistan of Iraq No. 952/6 on 12/6/2013.

A Kurdish inventor has found a new method for electricity production under water
By: Mohammed Taher
Erbil / Wishe No3 Page16 (A Kurdish Newspaper)
Inventing electricity is supported by Kurdistan Region Government and it is decided to be implemented and at the same time a committee has been formed by the Ministry of Justice so to protect the legal rights of this project to the Kurdistan Region. In Kurdistan still there is the problem of 24 hours day electricity, today a Kurdish inventor wants not only to solve Kurdistan electricity, but also via his invention he can liberate the world as whole from this polluted energy that polluted environment and leads human and animal health into danger. A Kurdish inventor, Kambiz Fatehi has found a new way for producing electricity under water. Although this kind of electricity doesn’t cost much and it doesn’t have any bad effect on the environment. This invention has been supported by council of ministers, ministry of electricity and Salahaddin University and it was decided to implement it and at the same time a committee has been formed by the Ministry of Justice so to protect the legal rights of this project to the benefit of Kurdistan Region. Due to cheapness of the energy that invented by Fatehi, it is not wise from now onwards to drill the earth for extracting oil and gas and to continue the cycle of industry in this way. Due to largeness and effectiveness of this project, so many people in the government and universities of the region do not believe that a Kurdish person can shake the basics of world energy, therefore Kambiz Fatehi has tried for one year to go to the government institutions, the parliament and the university so as to understand this project and as a result of that the significance of this project has been increased in both internally and the world as a whole and implementation decision has been made. According to the opinion of Kambiz Fatehi regarding Einstein’s formula, he believes that Einstein’s formula negative effect on the world, but Fatehi said “I can try to rectify the negative effect of the world by new formula” Up to date, some countries asked this Kurdish inventor and they told him that they can provide him with all the requirements on the condition to implement the project in their countries but he refused them and said “This project is invented by Kurds and it should go down from Kurdistan to the world and its income should be for all Kurdish people” Kambiz Fatehi was paid his attention to all kinds of movement of nature so as to find the best way to obtain clean energy, but one day by chance he looked an accident in a film, then he got the idea of this invention. In this film a submarine body holed, then sea water entered into it quickly as a result of that life of persons in the submarine will be under threat so from that time Kambiz thinks although this idea was very simple and primary but Kambiz takes benefit of his experience in the field of purifying water and turbine and based on other sciences. Later he developed the idea and reached to a stage that he said “ I found the cheapest way of electricity production. It is very cheap that I can say it is free. According to Fatehi’s opinion, Kurdish people via its invention will be the superpower of the world & Kurdistan and will be the owner of this science and the world as a whole and they have to buy this science from Kurdish people. Due to the cheapness of this energy, Kambiz thought it is not wise to drill the ground for extracting oil & gas and the cycle of industry rotates in this way. Constructing atomic station for producing power that humanitarian & environmental disasters have happened may be stopped from now onwards. 80% of global pollution returns to human being and affects them by spreading breath, eye, heart, brain, skin and some other diseases. According to world statistics every year three million people die due to pollution of environment and climate. Although the United Nations has made some limitations for industrial factories and vehicles so as to reduce the pollution of environment, but according to Wikipedia website statistics, for each five persons in the world three of them are under threat of polluted air. According to Kambiz’s idea Einstein’s formula for energy affects world badly, but today this Kurdish inventor say “I try by new formula to rectify the world”. According to Kambiz’s thought, this invention can be a basic for thousands of inventions in the field of industry and lead industry into new clean way and to serve the humanity positively. As Kambiz said oppressed Kurdish people via this invention will be one of the superpower people of the world. Kurdistan will be the owner of this science and the whole world will purchase this science from Kurdish people. Today Kurds in Iraq are happy for finding out (90) milliard barrels of oil under its land. Kambiz believes that if this becomes the source of clean energy in the world, then it will be rich one thousand times than its oil & gas, in spite of that all Kurdish people will be respected throughout the world because their country becomes the source of healthy people. If the Kurds do not get benefit from this opportunity and not register this invention under their name, then other scientists of the world have similar idea and then change this idea into construction, then Kurds not only be the owner of this wealth but also its oil & gas resource cannot buy by good price so as to depend on it. This is not first invention of Kambiz Fatehi, but also he has six inventions more that one of them after studying by scientists in Iran has been awarded a certificate. Kambiz Fatehi is originally from Sina City in eastern Kurdistan and he is the specialist of water purifying. He has been worked in this field for 23 years. As he said that he loves environment and all his inventions are for protection of environment, human & all other creatures. Three of Kambiz’s inventions related to electricity production in a clean way. One of his inventions related to prevention of dust fall that registered in Iran . He also has two other inventions regarding atomic environmental protection field that one of them protect atomic stations and the other protect people from atomic natural sources. *- The invention has patented in department of Justice of Kurdestan of Iraq with No: 952/6 on 12/6/2013.

So you tell me you put something into the water, essentially a pipe, and have a valve at the bottom. Why? Doesn’t it need a pressure difference to make a valve useful? Oh, I see. You mean there is a pressure difference? Why then doesn’t the water itself react on that? I mean even without your pipe or whatever you put there?

Reply to  Rainer Bensch

The pressure of water extends across the depths to all levels. The pipe box cycle are only part of our system. We will have beautiful conditions inside the pipe box cycle. In the pipe box cycle, we will see a combination of weather and somewhat vacuum. At all stages of energy production, cavitation will be close to zero. In this new hydro power plant, we use water pressure in two different ways. First, it is used to open and close valves and jacks, and secondly to produce clean energy or to complete the clean energy cycle. To the scientific understanding of this new hydro power plant, we need to have 8 separate sciences. The scientific understanding of this theory have to be within a team of experienced experts. I’ve worked with experienced scientists for many years and I have seen this very well.
For this case, at Kurdistan University, after a year of training and close cooperation, they understood that what I mean scientifically. Then I managed to patent this discovery.

My great discovery and invention is not for wealth.
I’m trying to save the planet from ruin. I think I’ve succeeded and I hope I can teach the world’s scientists. Yes, we will soon see a new industrial revolution in the world. I hope I can find an international investor. To make a small model, the new power plant needs $ 20 million. But first, I have to teach scientists, because it’s difficult for them to understand this great theory.

Change the world with Kurdistan’s industrial revolution
Site: Kurdaneh
By: Kambiz Fatehi:

In the world to producing and making one megawatt power in different power plant on average needs to huge investments from seven hundred to one million dollars for countries to provide their needs such as industrial energy, agriculture and urban consume. Although, we must taking high expenses of fuel consuming of this power plant into account. Now, with invention of new and clear energy of Kurdistan ’s power which is producing through the modern method of sank turbine in seas and dams water and new formula (E>P+1at) by me everything is changed. Although the mentioned science were accepted by many expert and technical people, but as I told and tell, this invention ( Kurdistan ’s power) in all research center in the world is defend able because it is formula based on applicable hydraulic. Thanks to this, most extra expenses in nuclear and fossil fuel power plant in the world will be reduced and removed or this old power plants will be replaced with the new science. Also, scientist will face to a new method in the science of hydroelectric power. Thus, there is no damage to the environment, because this system will be placed in created space with different geometrical volumes pipe in deep of water. Then, they scientifically will connect to the turbines and generator. So, the result will be whole a lot of energy which produced by the play of air and water together and with the optimum use of above formula power cycle production will be complete. And, if this new technology will be installed in dams, even a drop of water won’t be wasted. Namely, with the Kurdistan power invention it’s possible to make one dam to thousands of dam in it and making advantages of all head statistic potential of these self-made dams water in just one dam and getting energy hundred time more. Kurdistan power has a great influence in the world which no one will believe and by passing time people may little by little believe this incredible source of energy even the readers of this paper. The simplest effect of Kurdistan power in the world is, planning of all countries for remove all of their fossil fuel and nuclear power plant. Because, they know the cost of maintenance of this power plant and the risky function of it is too high. Also, getting energy in this power plants jeopardize the environment of countries and the world such as, water pollution level, air and soil also, this pollution is the main reason of most kind of animals and plants extinction. So, Kurdistan powers indeed change the perception of the world toward the simple and normal background of hydroelectric. In this method, high level of energy can be obtained easily from the dams and seas compare to the past methods and use other science for the new method of hydroelectric easily. Moreover, beside preventing global warming, most of the time it reduce build and installment of power transition line and it can lead all today valuable and basic materials, such as, oil and gas industry toward the specific valuable production and related to the energy. Basically, the nice feature of Kurdistan power is use of several parallel and set turbines in a float and balance system and cycle. Other feature is the simple ways of maintaining of this installation. The role of Kurdistan power in its economic is very important because not only, it has an exclusive place in transaction and world energy map, but also, with this invention as a world clean energy pole it become the one important reference and pattern in the world. Further, with this invention it has an exit strategy to free itself from the problem of single production (oil and gas) through presenting policies, transmitting science and knowledge of design and build of this based water (Kurdistan’s) power plant and joins the developed countries and in action with this technology, beside earning privilege of reference country, it has a vital role in all energy formulas in the world and within the world markets it can get benefit from all production of in need countries to the Kurdistan power as an exclusive privilege of its achievement in improve and develop of Kurdistan. In a way that even most of developed countries be in a dream of this place. Of course have a look on practical values of this extremely valuable technology; its values must be mentioned from four aspect of social, cultural, political and especially economic by scientists and experts in the future which is out of the mood of this paper. This is the latest benefit of Kurdistan power invention, and with necessary privilege achievement from foreign governments and companies, cooperation and participation acceptance with them, and sharing the benefit of these companies it can receive hundred times more benefit from present budget of Kurdistan . Also, with creating a mass job opportunity in the world it will be complete. And Kurdistan in a short distance will be a developed country. Thus, energy price will go cheap in Kurdistan and in the world certainly, so, unemployment will fall or destroy and you won’t find anyone who is homeless or suffer from hot or coldness. Also, with should say, as air pollution parameters fall down or abolish, humans food and grain, agriculture will improve and FAOs concerns which being a serious problem will drop. At last world health and hygiene will improve and get better. At the end I must explain that, all world formula after the Kurdistan ’s invention must be revising and define by scientists in different science again. Because, the thing that is important is the humans knowledge and notion effect which is concealed in mentioned practical hydraulic formula. Undoubtedly, Kurdistan power invention must be called Kurdistan industrial revelation. Because, this invention not only, can provide an endless source of energy in the world, but also, it bring the peace, love and friendly massage and a gift from Kurdistan to the world. Actually, Kurdistan power demand a world far from the war and violence that, found on the bases of peace, respect and reconciliation to all nations.

You raised the rationale and its answer is simple.
Before running any project, you need to prove scientifically and logically the base of project! I hope you have a strong scientific team and this is a must have for your confidence. People who need to be in this team must have scientific and legal credentials. My guarantee is my knowledge and proofs are proven.
There may be several answers for each question. If the world’s scientists were able to respond, they would not succeed. I could answer this question and this is a scientific proof. If it were not a scientific proof, I would certainly not be able to patent it. Do you know the meaning of 24 years of research? When scientists are scientifically convinced that this global scientific answer is correct, there is no longer room for discussion.
It’s interesting to know that this new power plant does not need field testing and should be industrialized quickly.
Now a question remains.
Which one is more valuable and more important!
Tens or hundreds of millions of dollars of you or my scientific and global credentials?

Ignoring the does it work problem you are in for a big shock if you try and patent this in the developed world. Lets give you the heads up you can’t patent a mathematical or physics formula and because what you are doing is so simple anybody could copy it. There are exceptions to mathematics in the finance area where they don’t pertain to actual science as they are viewed as technology implementation rather than a mathematics formula. However your patent would almost certainly be rejected and would be worthless.

You need to patent the process or machine like Rossi E-Cat if you really want to run this sort thing 🙂

You are right and this is a fact.
But it should be noted that this is not just a new theory in mathematics and physics.
This new scientific formulation has been registered with its advanced method and has been published on Google for several years.
Also, all legitimate legal centers in the world have already been notified, that is, they are not stealing.
It has also been published on television channels.
Finally, my goal is not money!
I have tried to save lives of people and protect the planet and I think I’ve succeeded in this.
Although I think that I am very alone, this alone will not take much time because the subject of energy is very strategic. I hope that I can teach the world’s scientists before building a new model. The scientific understanding of this formula and the construction of a new model is very difficult. I now live in Norway, and unfortunately there is no scientific and technological team in Norway.

Only the beauty of science is just its honesty. That is, nobody is able to commit an offense.
The whole world should be owed to the scientists of Kurdistan. Because they were able to confirm scientifically the most difficult question and answer of the world.
Therefore, the beginning of the new industrial revolution of the world is called Kurdistan.
The scientific proof is simple and easy for your scientists.
I hope that your incompetent scientists are able to control their natural balance when they see the scientific response.

To counter all the skeptical folks like you will find on a site like this one you need to contact multiple Tabloids such as the New York Times and others that you may find in US supermarkets where readers with an open mind will certainly help promote your ideas. You don’t want the greedy corporate industry to buy out your patents just to protect their investments. Contact Greenpiss and Serria Club and they will jump on the opportunity to save the world. I know all these people and centers well.
They are just slogans and they are more interested in their individual interests!
I do not trust them and I do not believe them.
When the new scientific formula on clean energy discovered, the Paris agreement on climate change is funny because the world’s energy problem can be solved!
This new hydro power scientific formula (E>P+1at) is the near future of renewable energy in the world and it can solve global warming difficulties!
(Ee>Ep+E1at) = (E>P+1at)
I have to teach the world’s scientists to build this new hydro power plant model. After that, I think we will see the beautiful world.
When we produce clean energy, seawater is also cleaned and refined from unstable organic contaminants. We observe the romance of the water and air in the depths of the water, which means increasing the water-soluble oxygen content.
That is, for the first time in our world, we see that the industry will come with the help of the environment, and this is amazing.
It is the task of environmental activists to introduce me to the scientists of global warming. I am a researcher, and time is very important to me because I work on other new inventions.

You hear on the news most days now about the negative impact of climate change. Here is a very good example of how it is affecting local communities and their economues in Louisiana: http://mankindsdegradationofplanetearth.com/2018/06/05/louisiana-land-loss-while-slowing-still-a-football-field-every-100-minutes-nola-com/

Speaking of BS, I found it interesting that the article that you linked to basically says that coastal erosion is about a third of what it was in the 1970s, yet alarmists are complaining that the problem of “climate change” is getting worse since then. This seems to be a typical approach of alarmists: cite studies that report problems, but don’t support the claim of anthropogenic warming. Are you hoping that skeptics won’t read the citation with an eye to veracity?

I love the idea that we can “build the economy” with “preventative measures”. Perhaps you could outline some of these measures and what the net benefit will be.

In Ontario Canada the leader of the Liberal Party (Ontario version) already conceded defeat in the election that will be held tomorrow – that was last Saturday. She was intent on building the economy with preventative measures, like you. As a result, 4% of homes have been disconnected from the grid for failure to pay electricity bills and 8% are behind in payments. It is illegal to disconnect someone in winter so heaven only knows what the real state of energy poverty is. It is an unmitigated disaster (geddit?)

It is the costs of virtue signaling with boondoggles that keep increasing – evidence is everywhere. Now the public is left with the very real costs of her virtue signaling.

It is my generation that became highly concerned about the environment and protecting and cleaning it – we did it purposefully . We were very successful. Oceans are next.

Managing climate change requires adaptation with skill and knowledge. Altering the climate as a conscious act requires being a god. We are not gods, just people taking care of things – even you, if you have an accident. Be happy. Do something nice for someone’s environment today.

Two problems, first the notion that the economy can be designed.
Second the belief that anything bad that happens while CO2 is rising, must be caused by CO2 rising.

It appears that the CAGWers, Warmians and Greenbeans thought they had it in the bag, but didn’t realize the bag was full of holes. It’s strange that this WSJ article appears shortly after a WaPo article about the Left’s failures with socialism, written back in May.

The problem was that they’ve pounded this ‘gimme, gimme, gimme’ thing for so long that people who are no longer children have other concerns such as paying the rent or the mortgage, putting food on the table, finding ways to get their kids into college at a modest cost (hey, scholarships are everywhere and some are going wanting for customers!!!) – just regular, every day stuff like that. Parents are more interested in safe neighborhoods, trash pickup, and good schools than they are in whether or not the mean Gorebull temperature is going to rise 1 degree Centigrade. They really just do not give a flying flake of corn about it.

Everyday stuff takes precedence over futuristic nonsense that comes off as some peculiar sci-fi plot resembling ‘Soylent Green’. When the weather guessers can’t even make an accurate forecast about the next five days, and keep changing it on a daily and sometimes hourly basis (I’ve been tracking Accuweather’s guess and switch stuff for about six months now), why would anyone who has a real life waste a moment of real time on such silliness? They should simply admit that they turned this branch of science into a cult to feed their ridiculous egos and grab grant cash, and that they are otherwise useless chair warmers.

The pullout from the Paris climate nonsense was a good thing to do. Ending that idiocy for the US was a start to return to something more normal. I hope this trend continues and other countries not mentioned by me finally come to their senses.

Odd sets of graphics…

According to both graphs; interest in “climate change” or “Global warming” peaked at 100% approximately around 2007.

And, their graphic shows that the 2009 Climategate release, only caused a minor interest increase to approximately 50%.

To achieve those levels of interest in “climate change” or “Global warming”, I suspect they searched for a lot of similar terms and just conflated all results.

Still, both peaks were very temporary.

The problem is that you can’t prove a negative.
We can show that it’s been a lot warmer many times in the last 10K years.
We can show that historically there is no correlation between CO2 levels and the earth’s temperature.
We can show that the models are built on false assumptions and run hot when they try to hindcast.
But none of that “proves” that THIS time, man isn’t responsible.

“Choices have consequences. It’s a simple message that sensible parents share with their children and that everyone will eventually learn for themselves.

In a sign of emotional immaturity, where a poor choice is made, some will seek to deflect blame onto others. They will rationalise and justify whatever they can to avoid responsibility themselves.

Choices have consequences. It’s a simple message that sensible parents share with their children and that everyone will eventually learn for themselves.

We have seen a stark example of that immaturity this week by some of those involved with the Australian National University (ANU).

ANU is our top rated tertiary institution that marks success by producing assorted leftists who perpetuate group-think and identity politics.

One young man I know lasted a single semester at ANU before transferring to a university that was less concerned with gender fluidity and other PC nonsense.

He commented to me that, “Every day at ANU entailed being drip-fed radical Kool-aid that was undermining the country and poisoning my mind”.

Now I know that is just one man’s personal experience but we all gained an amazing insight into the culture of ANU when – under leftist pressure – it back-flipped on hosting the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation, despite winning the competitive tender for the initiative.

The Centre is funded by a massive bequest from the late philanthropist Paul Ramsay. With a $30 million annual budget, it provides scholarships and degrees to inform and advocate for the pillars of Western civilisation.

These are the very values and traditions that have underpinned our nationhood and make Western nations so attractive to those seeking a better life.

However, the advocacy of these values is too radical for the ANU, which rejected the centre. Unable to mount a credible rationale for the decision, the decision-makers chose to blame Tony Abbott.

That’s right, the leftists’ “in case of emergency break glass and blame Tony Abbott” defence was trotted out.

The former PM’s egregious sin – as a director of the Ramsay Centre – was to pen an essay stating that the Centre actually advocated for Western civilisation.

Imagine the horror of such a statement that proved to be a bridge too far for the ANU.

This esteemed taxpayer-funded institution will host a centre for Arab culture and Islamic studies but not for Western civilisation.

It will accept money from an Islamic theocracy and state sponsor of terror like Iran but won’t take a bequest from a wonderful Australian philanthropist.

It is a shameful indictment on the state of some of our tertiary indoctrination institutions.

Remarkably, the Australian government is closing the door to many students from attending some more balanced universities through penalties in their fee HELP program.

Students who choose to attend one of the four private universities cop an outrageous government ‘fee’ comprising 25% of their total student debt – that’s many thousands of dollars – for the ‘sin’ of studying outside the indoctrinating public university club.

This unjustifiable inequality removes the opportunity for many young men and women to access a university more intent on delivering quality education, practical skills and employability rather than thought-compliance and other ideological agendas.

It’s time to end this unjustifiable financial bias against our private universities. If the government needed any reason to act then the ANU has given them a perfect one.”
