Yesterday we informed you about how France’s lead television weatherman was forced to take a “holiday” in response to him publishing a book that is critical towards climate change alarmism. So far, all the TV network has done is unleash the Striesand Effect, heaping negative attention upon their decision, which is being seen as prohibiting free speech.I’ve heard from people in France, and they are mobilizing a petition:
The petition, written both in English and in French, is here. Please, sign it quickly, regardless of your opinion on climate change, since this journalist is in deep trouble. Thank you to all.English version :Philippe Verdier, a journalist in charge of the weather service of the French public TV channels France Télévisions, is threatened in his job and his career for having published a non-conformist book about climate. Even if he emphasizes that he is not a climate skeptic, Philippe Verdier points out in his book all the erring ways of climate policies. He also criticizes the IPCC and its ideological views that have just nothing to do with science.
The origin of his book is Laurent Fabius’ explicit and recent attempt to get full support of all French weathermen prior to COP21, the international climate conference that will be held in Paris late November. Laurent Fabius is the French Foreign Minister and also the future president of this conference.
In January, citizens from all countries in the world stood up for freedom of speech, with « Je suis Charlie » as a motto. Time has come to stand up again. The Collectif des climato-réalistes call on you to sign this petition regardless of your opinion about climate change.

3.382 signatures so far…if you haven’t signed because they want your email address – not to worry.
Henri Masson says: “I can guarantee your e-mail address will never been used by “le collectif” for any other purpose than this sole petition.”
Don’t like the plea for money when signing!!
Didn’t even notice that. Are you sure? There was an option for comment which I didn’t use, didn’t see anything about donations or such.
I just checked out with our webmaster. The “promotion money” they refer too on the webpage is exclusvely aimed to get the Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. reference to the petition to “climb up” in the order of appearance of the hyperlink when you type in “(petition) Philippe Verdier” as key words for your search, increasing this way its visibility (and thus reaching more people).
If you type in my name, you will find out that desmondblog must have spend a nice amount of money for smearing my own reputation (just to give you an example).
I understand this perfectly. I did not design this webpage…and actually I share your views and feelings about that. .
However:
1- as many “realist” websites we are not sponsored, neither by the industry, nor by the Government( that you already guessed, I think 🙂 and running a website has a cost (fees to host, equipment & maintenance, etc.). All the members of the “collectif” participate to our venture, for free, during they free time (which can be important if they are retired, which is the case of some of us).
2- As for many really independent websites you are kindly asked to participate to the running costs if wanted (this.is common practise; look around)
3- but our petition is clearly all except a fundraising or crowdfunding operation.
So please do not feel obliged to support us finacially. But if you really want, you are of course welcome 😉
Over 4008 so far. Seems like this thread is dead, But the petition signers still keep growing. Is there any news whether or not he will get his job back? Haven’t seen any updates…
Indeed no news so far, except that Philippe Verdier must meet the Direction of France Television “somewhere later this week”. As you might know, Philippe Verdier is supported by his Union (Force Ouvrière), and since the begining of the week the Unions negotiate (harshly, some unions having already slammed the door…) with the Government on a “new social deal”.. Maybe nobody wants to exasperate the other parties by putting too much emphasis on a “touchy case”….for the time being..
