From the “the hornier they are the harder they fall” department: The head of the United Nations climate change panel (IPCC), Rajendra Pachauri, has stepped down amid sexual harassment allegations.

The BBC reports as of 12 noon GMT today:
The head of the United Nations climate change panel (IPCC), Rajendra Pachauri, has stepped down amid sexual harassment allegations.
A spokesman for Mr Pachauri told the IPCC that he had resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Indian police are investigating a complaint from a 29-year-old woman working in Mr Pachauri’s office in Delhi.
Mr Pachauri has denied the allegations.
Lawyers for the woman say the harassment included unwanted emails as well as text and phone messages.
On Monday, the 74-year-old had pulled out of a high-level IPCC meeting in Kenya because of “issues demanding his attention in India”, as an IPCC spokesman put it.
The IPCC has since confirmed that the meeting will instead be chaired by its vice-president Ismail El Gizouli.
Mr Pachauri had chaired the IPCC since 2002. In 2007 he collected the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the organisation for its work in the scientific assessment of the risks and causes of climate change.
We all knew it was simply a matter of time.

I hope he fights all charges to the bitter end, shouting, screaming, and denying. I hope he uses every dirty trick in the book, to avoid coming clean. That kind of spectacle would truly reflect and expose the tactics of alarmist warmers. We should all encourage him to resist with all his might. GK
It’s hard to sound convincing when you make a statement of fact that is blatantly not true. Who will believe him? The IPCC clearly states that it reads and references GRAY LITERATURE. This is a long established fact. Now read this from Pachauri.
The reality.
50 shades of GRAY
I would hope that something comes up about Ban Ki Moon. Probably won’t happen. He looks like the kind of guy that doesn’t know what hand to use when going to the toilet.

More slack in the ropes let them do themselves.
Who cares he resigned. The IPCC will stay the same. No gain, no loss.
I think it’s very sad to see someone in his position brought low. (Tee hee)
In the spirit of “alarmist” scientists’ practice, the facts are sure to have been exaggerated for the desired impact in the press release. The reality will be somewhat muted I’m sure.

IF he was dumb enough to engage in sexual harassment in emails, one wonders what else he was dumb enough to communicate in emails.
Does India have FOIA or equivalent?
Actually, i can’t see this as a downer for Pachauri. This is more of a timely escape. He has gotten out before the whole global warming fraud could blow up in his face. He will now only be cursed in memory instead of being a poster boy. (Notice that he didn’t fight to maintain his position. These accusations are actually something of a godsend to him.)
Or to use another metaphor — his stocks have been rising for years and selling now he took a slight haircut on his profits but has gotten out before the coming crash.
We are going to be seeing less and less of the big “political” names as they find ways to disappear into the background. They know the jig is up and are slow-walking for cover. (Al Gore has been fading into the background — has anyone noticed?)
So who is going to take the fall? Any of the “scientists” of climate who do not retire quickly or if they are too young, who do not begin to recant. The young ones are going to have to walk it all back if they want academic careers in the future. The ones to walk it back first will be the ones furthest from the explosion and safest from the fallout. And the explosion is coming.
Even one or two of the really big names of global warming science could save themselves — if they made a sudden renunciation — while flaying their former colleagues. But that will only work for the first one or two. And they need to toss red meat to keep the hounds off themselves. So who will be first? It’s a real prisoner’s
dilemma.

Wonder if all that hidden heat has found its way into Pachauri’s underpants.
Old Grumpy
Actually choking with laughter.

Frankly the resignation of Pachauri from the IPCC will change absolutely nothing. In fact it may be a deliberate ploy to distract attention from other events. Even if it isn’t the deranged AGW fanatics are not going to stop. For them the cause is everything.
What a pity the Telegraph had to back down in 2010 and apologise to him, because of his superior legal funding:
“The Daily Telegraph, Tata and Dr Pacahuri – An Apology Too Far?”
http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/originals/apology_too_far.html
Missed the typo; Dr Pachauri
I read that the Telegraph apologized to the Tata group. From you link in that PDF:
“At the time, Dr Pachauri demanded an apology and hinted at legal action if none were forthcoming. I am not aware of any such response, so it was somewhat of a surprise when an apology did appear this month in the Telegraph, not to Dr Pachauri, but to the Tata group, who felt they were maligned by comments in the Pachauri article.”
Climate scientists, bureaucrats, and politicians, are being cursed from Texas to Maine.
They deserve worse, than they will get, but will get, more than they are expecting.
They should all get together and have a circular firing squad.
The name and shame game goes both ways.
Ha! Haha!! Hahahahahahahaha!!! Yet another proud moment for the warmists. Lawyers say, “the harassment included unwanted emails as well as text and phone messages.” Should have been a class action suit.
I imagine the Washington Post and NY Times headlines will read:
BREAKING NEWS – Global warming increases sexual harassment.
good one
Have been monitoring Rommulan frequencies for comment. Thus far, **crickets**.
LOL. Gonna take a while before they figure out how to blame this on CO2
WHERE ARE THE WARMISTS TODAY???
So will Al Gore airbrush him out of the team photos?
Betcha betcha.
Pachauri should have stuck with masseuses. That pleasure only gets you divorced.
Yea, and not only that – how about the Nobel Prize? Does Mann finally get his piece of the pie?
Good thing Gore & Pachauri weren’t caught getting “relief” at the same massage parlor…
Great opportunity for Obummer to resign the POTUS possition and become the IPCC Chairman. As far as I’m concerned he already sounds like the IPCC chairman with all of the climate crapola that he voices.
Hmmm…looks like he fiddled with more than the climate numbers.
well I think I have gathered that the man made climate change is a lie promulgated by people who know it to be a lie.
Is that the assertion ?
The assertion is that Pachauri is a perv.
Now he has to avoid the fathers, brothers, husbands, and boyfriends, of the women that worked for him. If he fails to do this, he may understand, for once, that there are “tipping points” in the “real world”.
The whole science is based on harassing, bullying and threatening the careers of other scientists into towing the line on global warming. It is not much different than what the former head of the IPCC did.
They have all lost their moral compass.
The Rasputin of the UN bows out.
Funny how history (and climate) repeats itself in ways not always recognized.
